Double Digits

So did anyone else notice that we're in double digits? Yeah probably not. But i did. Under 100 days until this little baby gets here. We're making progress.

    Pregnancy Milestones:
  • Finally gave in and got measured for a new bra. I'll probably still grow in the next 3 months but the one i was wearing was 2 sizes too small (as i suspected). So i went and bought a humongous nursing bra. Really the cups are like the size of my face. Here's hoping those shrink down at some point in the future.

  • Woke up last night because i was comfortable sleeping for the first time in months. Turns out i was on my back, a pregnancy no no. I rolled to my side and "Ah that's the dull shoulder cramp i was missing." Easily fell back asleep. Kind of sad that being comfortable wakes me up. I guess that's just the pregnant life.

Crafty days off

There is the finished product of the cute baby's blanket. I guess all my machine needed was a break because when i went back to try to fix it it was working just fine again. So i finished quilting and binding this quilt. I love how it turned out.

Today I decided that I would attempt an new block, the Dresden plate. I was inspired from a picture on my friend sukie's blog and i figured I'd try it out. I looked up a little tutorial online and watched this YouTube tutorial and then got to work this morning. I don't have much of a fabric stash yet so i just used some scraps from my other recent projects.* I like how they turned out. I'm not sure what I'll do with them yet. I'm toying with the idea of learning some other blocks and making a sampler quilt or making some throw pillow covers. We'll see. For now I'm just enjoying the thrill of learning something new and making something pretty.

*My stash will soon be expanding; David ordered some fabric for me for our anniversary so i just have to wait another month until our anniversary and I'm in business. Yay!

He's got my back...

So I've noticed that when i get angry or sad the baby gets very active. It's kind of like he's saying "no ones gonna hurt my momma, let me at 'em." I think it's kind of sweet in a weird way haha. Looks like I'll have a little guy that'll stick up for me soon :)(David sticks up for me, by the way, he's just a big guy lol)

Sweet tooth

Admittedly, I have a sweet tooth. I love sugar, candy, goodies. I love them but I usually am fairly responsible in when I eat them. I don't eat them everyday usually and i try to keep to nice healthy stuff. These past couple weeks though i just can't stay away from the treats. I don't feel content unless I've had a little dessert of some sort after dinner. It's really bad. My next doctor's appointment is next week and I've been trying to be really good this month (eating better then i have been and walking several times a week) so that i don't have a monthly repeat of the obscene amount of weight i had gained last month. (Really it was bad my midwife asked me what happened with my eating that i gained so much.) As hard as i try though i just can't keep away from the sugar. I'm beginning to wonder if this little guy has a bit of a sweet tooth. I've had friends tell me stories about things they craved or detested while pregnant and those things are exactly what their kids love or hate now. It will be interesting to see but i think the little baby has a sweet tooth.

Happy Spring

I was not so happy this morning when i saw that it had snowed overnight but the snow has melted so I'll be thankful for that. It's still a little chilly but i can handle that. This is our cherry tree that we got and planted last week. We've been wanting to plant fruit trees since before we bought out house and when we saw cherry trees at Costco for $15 we couldn't pass it up. This cherry is a hybrid that has 4 different kinds of cherries that will grow on it. They grafted branches from different varieties of cherries onto one tree and voila we should be getting 4 kinds of cherries from this tree. We'll let you know how it goes in the next few years as it begins producing a bit.

We have some signs of spring. The tulips that i planted last fall are starting to poke out of the ground a bit. I love them because they'll be so pretty and because they're a little reminder that spring is really coming.

Spring also means that we're one season closer to getting this little boy here. When summer hits I'll be a couple weeks away from my due date so spring marks the "better get things put together before this little boy comes" season. We did a lot of cleaning and purging of unnecessary stuff yesterday. We broke down the futon that was in the baby's room and moved it downstairs along with a bunch of other stuff we were storing in the babies room. We're not done yet, obviously, but we're getting closer. This is the dresser and crib we have. The dresser was David's dad's growing up so it's kind of fun to keep it in the family (with some updated hardware:). The room is going to get some color in the coming weeks but we decided that less is more when it comes to paint and instead of painting the whole room we're going to paint a few bright stripes and call it done.

Awww, isn't it so cute? I keep peeking in everyday just to look at it. We're having a baby soon. David felt him for the first time this week and we saw him kick today at church. It definitely is getting more real by the day. And we're getting more excited.
I did not get his quilt finished because I'm having a tension issue with my sewing machine and i couldn't figure out what was wrong last Wednesday so i gave up for a few days. I suppose I should try to fix it again so I can work on projects again. I've played with the tension wheel thing and I've looked at the bobbin, which seemed a bit tangled so i unwound it and rewound it but it didn't help. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix tension?

Baby prep

We practiced diapering our little baby
Ray Ray.

I am in the process of making this cute baby boy a cute baby quilt. When i saw the train fabric i had to buy it. It's funny because i don't have a theme for his room or anything like that but i just loved this fabric. If all goes as planned this week I'll have a finished picture next week. I love my days off of work. I usually just sew all day. It's fun. Part time is the best :)

All the baby quilt.

And there is the finished product of my other quilt. This is the first time i machine quilted anything so it was a new experience. I learned a lot from it and I'm determined to get better at it. For this quilt i just did a really simple diagonal line pattern for the quilting and it kicked my butt. However I'm getting a bit more daring in what I'm planning for the baby quilt so hopefully it will turn out well. Time will tell.

So we're getting prepared for baby slowly but surely. We also bought baby wipes at Costco yesterday. Our house is slowly being overrun with baby stuff. Who knew a baby needed so many things?! We still have plenty of time to finish prepping though. In the next month i hope to show pictures of a painted put together baby's room. We'll see how that goes, maybe within the next 2 months :) But soon things will be together.

chopped

Here's hoping i can style it well. I really like it though. And killing two birds with one stone there's me and baby at week 23.
