Little Mommy

Claire is such a sweet, nurturing little girl. She loves her babies and stuffed animals. The other day she found the sling and I watched for several minutes as she attempted to put it on. I helped her and she walked around with her baby in the sling for 20 minutes. She was so happy!

So I decided to make her her own little sling. I had been meaning to do it anyway, but this got me to hurry and finish it. She likes it a lot more than these pictures show. She just wanted the camera.
Claire even wore it to the store the other day and likes to put several babies and animals in it at a time.
She also wraps them up in little blankets (or napkins in this case) and carries them around. She loves pushing them in the little stroller.
The cutest is how much nursing all her babies do. She loves to nurse everything all day, and makes this cute little clicking noise with her tongue. She'll nurse everything from a doll to a plastic cockroach to a truck. She also likes to bring me her babies to nurse on me. And she won't accept pretend nursing, I have to actually lift up my shirt for her to be satisfied. She throws a fit in public when I won't do it; I guess she doesn't get why I nurse her in public but not her dolls!
Claire is such a good little mommy!

17 months

Claire is 25 lbs of awesomeness.

This kid knows a bazillion words, there's no way I could write them all down. Her favorite book at the moment is Goodnight Moon (she requests "Moon!!" several times a day), she also loves "My Little Pup" despite being terrified of dogs, and any book with flip out pages. She knows all the important body parts (including elbows, cheeks, hair, knees, and bum. She loves to say "bum bum bum bum bum" while patting her own, or others), and she can mimic what cows, ducks, turkeys, sheep, cats and dogs say.
Those are black grapes in her hands, she's very excited about them, and she's showing us her belly. She loves for us to tickle her belly or feet and pretends to tickle herself and says "tickatickaticka" to get us to do it.
This morning when she woke up, she crawled over to Hyrum, planted a kiss right on his lips, crawled over to me, gave me a big kiss, then yelled "Up!". She is so sweet; every day we talk about how incredibly amazing Claire is and how lucky we are to have her for our little girl.
Claire loves music, and we listen to it all day long. She's in a little kindermusik class once a week that we really like and she loves to dance all around. Some favorite songs include "If you're Happy and you know it" "Head shoulders knees and toes" "Bringing home a baby bumblebee" and the "ABC" song. I play a children's cd in the car now, and she often cries when I try to get her out of her carseat!
Yesterday, Claire walked up to her little potty after dinner, ripped her diaper off, sat down and peed, then jumped up and yelled YAY! while clapping. I should probably be less lazy about it because I think she could be out of diapers before too long. She loves going potty.
Claire loves to try on clothes, she's wearing 5 dresses, a tshirt and a jacket here, and one day she put on 9 different articles of clothing and wanted more (all pajamas). She's also gotten picky about what she wears. She often refuses to put on what I want, and instead insists on something else (usually it's pink). We went to the grocery store with her wearing a regular outfit, with my pink tshirt over it. The shirt went to her ankles, but she loves it!
Her hair is finally long enough to do this!
She likes me to "do" her hair, but doesn't like to keep them in, darn!
She's got 7 teeth now, and appears to be working on some molars.
The way we've always fed Claire is to give her pieces of what we were eating. If we had burritos, she would get pieces of meat, chunks of cheese, some beans, avocado etc. Now, she refuses to eat like that and will only eat exactly what we eat! She ate almost this entire burrito, also loves her little hamburger, sandwich, bowl of spaghetti, etc. She's such a good little eater! For a while, olives were her favorite food (she would do anything for an olive, so I stocked up. Rookie parent mistake), but at the moment it's frozen cherries.

Claire loves to give us kisses between the rails.
She still loves bike rides with her daddy
Throwing a fit after we took her off the bike the other day. It's a good thing she still had the helmet on, she through herself onto the cement pretty hard. Whether it's been 10 minutes or an hour, she never wants to get out!

Loving the leaves
I made this fort on her crib that Claire loves. She gets so excited when she sees it and calls it her "ffft". She loves for us to crawl in there with her and we'll read or watch Claire videos on the camera or play for ever.
Claire's cool winter clothes. I love her little jeans
I hardly ever take pictures anymore because Claire almost always stops whatever she's doing and begs to look at videos on the camera. There are so many things I want to take pictures and videos of!

Claire always taps her head when this song plays, I think it's hilarious that she started tapping her baby. We can't figure it out, it's only the Muffin Man that she does it to.

This is blurry, but I love her "cheese" grin.

I love how she copies us sometimes

Ready to watch movies!

Cute Claire sentences

This morning while Hyrum was reading a book to Claire, he thought she wasn't paying attention and started to doze off. Claire goes, "Uh oh! No no nigh-nuh (night night/sleep)! Book!"

A few weeks ago we were trying to sleep in a little and Claire wanted us to get up. She came into the room and yelled, "Mama! No no! Nigh-nuh! Dada! Up! Up! Up! Up! Up! Up!"

Happy Halloween

Last week out our church party.
Claire had a stomach virus the day before Halloween (the day that everything actually happened) so we didn't get to trick or treat or do any of the fun stuff. But, she was feeling better in the evening, so I let me hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. She loved when I opened the door and she would say Hi, hand each person a piece of candy (which she had gathered in her little arms), then wave bye bye.
You can see her "earrings" and eyeshadow

On Halloween- Claire was the lead guitarist for the rock band ABCD, Hyrum was security, and I was her groupie. (thanks to my friend Timbra for taking this, and any other higher quality pics below)
Rockin out on her stage at the Aviary, bodyguard close at hand to make sure things don't get too out of control.

Her little painted nails (Claire LOVES painting her nails) feeding the ducks
Hyrum and I hadn't planned on dressing up, but an hour before we left for the Aviary, the idea for our costumes came to me. It was fun running around putting them together!

We used beet juice and unlfavored gelatin for the pink in our hair
