Meeting Gracie

We had so many visitors come and meet our little Gracie after she was born. Oh how that kept me sane. We also were able to venture and take Gracie out pretty soon since it was such nice weather and not a sick season. Here is a lengthy yet tender post of Gracie meeting some high quality people. But first I must mention 2 things. 1. If you are not pictured...don't feel unloved, I was sleep deprived and probably forgot to get out my camera. 2. Warning...I look extremely hot in some of the photos! After baby pics...nothing like em!

Family of Four

Since Clara Jo didn't get to visit us in the hospital, we didn't get our first family photograph taken. I had someone try with my camera soon after we brought Gracie home and this is what we got! Can we pick out who is the most difficult to photograph? Waiting patiently for the wanting to ham it up in front of the camera phase!! Oh well, at least we tried...and they are slightly comical as well. I think the last one of Eric being choked is my personal favorite!

Gracie at home

Life was pretty fun bringing a newborn home. Who needs a full nights sleep anyway? Clara was doing well and it was a fun adjusting time for us. I loved having a newborn in April. I was able to go on walks and get out in the pretty weather. Here are some pictures of Gracie's first little while at home.

Big Sister

So, the big question was.... what was Clara Jo going to think about little sister? We came home from the hospital. Clara was at our friend's house down the street so Eric went to pick her up. We had Gracie in the bassinet with a present wating for the big sister.
They got home and she came upstairs into the room and peered over the bassinet on her tip toes. "Baby...night night" was what she had to say! Then she spotted her gift and opened it. She got a few more little pet shop animals from Gracie. She was pretty stoked about that. Then she went back to the bassinet and told us again that there was a baby in there sleeping.
Then Clara tried to help me pump. She thought it would be a good big sister thing for her to do! I knew then that we had a definite helper on our hands. It was funny to see how she would try to imitate what I was doing.
Later in the day, we asked Clara if she wanted to hold baby Gracie. Oh was she ever excited to do so. Here are some fun pictures of the big sister holding Gracie and giving her loves. We will work on the part about being soft with baby. It will be a work in progress.
Things have gone pretty smooth since the first day these two girls met. Clara loves baby and holds her on a daily basis. Eric and I have tried to spend some quality time with Clara every day and make her feel like she is still loved. Clara hasn't requested that we take the baby back to where we got her. So that is good news! We did hit a little rough spot yesterday when we put Gracie in the swing for the first time. Clara didn't appreciate this at all and wanted to have her turn in the swing. I love that I have two little girls and I can't wait to see the fun they will have together in the years to come.
