Snow What?

One day last week, Eric took Clara Jo outside to play in the snow. Oh the fun the two of them had. She shed many tears when it was time to come in. Here are a few pictures of their bonding time outside!

1461 Days

Yep.... that is four years that we have been married! Tender really! We still love each other and are willing press forward to year 5! :)
We had a hot date on the town to celebrate. We went to Texas Roadhouse where I was introduced to something marvelous called loaded mashed potatoes. Then we went and played some miniature golf. No need to discuss the winner! We couldn't go too wild and crazy this year since I am a large pregnant woman. Next year... I envision us somewhere in a tropical setting without the children.

Going Under

So lets rewind back to last October. At Clara Jo's two year appointment, her doctor told us that her eye that leaks is probably due to a closed tear duct. She recommended that we go see an eye doctor about having it fixed. So in December, we went to the eye doctor and indeed we had a closed tear duct. She recommended surgery to go in and open up that duct so her eye wouldn't leak and lead to infections. The thought of Clara Jo having surgery and being given anesthesia to do so didn't thrill the parents. However, we figured if we are going to do we need to do it before baby sister arrives. So alas, we made the appointment and dreaded the day. The good news is that the surgery was pretty simple and Clara Jo wouldn't be in hardly any pain afterwards.

On the big day, we headed to the hospital. The nurses and people there were so amazing and made us feel calm. First they took her vitals and she changed into her snazzy hospital outfit. They were going to take her and give her a mask that would have her asleep in the matter of a couple of minutes. They warned that sometimes kids wake up from the anesthesia very grumpy and upset! Lovely! Then we walked down a hall and the nurse and Clara went one way and Eric and I went the other way. I, in my hormonal state, walked tearfully to the waiting room. I didn't even make it through the latest People magazine before the doctor came and said that all went well. A few minutes after that, Clara was waking up. She was upset and crying. I think she wanted people to leave her alone. They got us to a little post operating place where they turned on cartoons and gave her crackers and apple juice. Eric and I took turns holding her and rocking her while she calmed down. Within a half hour or so... our little girl was a happy camper as she was being pulled out of there in a wagon. We came home and Clara took a great nap and was pretty much back to her usual perky self after that. Everything turned out great and we are glad it is over. We have an appointment later this month to make sure the surgery was successful! We are keeping our fingers crossed!!
