We Forgot

OK I really didn't forget birthdays the last two months, I just didn't take any photos of them. I had a birthday in January and turned 36. I am having a hard time with this age for some reason. I am on the slippery slope to middle age. Ugh. I have the most thoughtful husband. Robbie bought me a saw for my birthday. A table saw? What a crappy gift. You would think that if you didn't know me. It was one of the 3 best gifts Robbie has ever gotten me. The other two were skis and a sewing machine. One of my favorite smells is fresh cut wood on a saw. I love this gift. Thanks darlin'.Robbie's birthday is in February and he is now only a year from 40. He sent me an email and signed it, "Love your senior citizen". Whatever. Robbie is always going to be 23 to me. He still looks amazing and is so much fun to be with.

Robbie is amazing. He makes me do things that take me out of my comfort zone. I am a big fat scaredy pants about everything. Because of him I have been to Mexico many times. He always tells us that he can't guarantee fun but he can guarantee an adventure. We have had many of those adventures. He taught me how to snow and water ski. I love both of them both. He makes me want to be domestic. I am horrible at this but if dinner is cooked or the house is super clean it is because I want to do it for Robbie. Not me or the kids heaven forbid but for him. I don't even start cleaning until late afternoon so that the house will still be cleaned when he gets home. He is an incredible father and is the voice of reason at our home. I go crazy and he settles everyone down. He is actively involved in our children's lives and that is huge to me. He has passion. Yes that kind too. He is a Gunter after all. He has passion for the things he does. He loves his job and the opportunity to teach kids and make them better people. He believes that if you work hard you can accomplish anything. He treats everyday like it is going to be the best day ever. He forces me to confront fears that I have had since childhood. I have been river rafting with him. He makes me feel safe. He loves me and I am thankful everyday that I tricked him into thinking I was a relatively normal person and got him to marry me. I love Mr. Hottie Hottie 2x4.

Grandma and Grandpa

A couple of weeks ago we went to Idaho to visit family. Robbie's Grandmas was having a birthday so we went up to see her. They live in a hotel that they converted into their home. We have two beds that came from there. It is a fun house. Grandpa Jeff, Britton, and Breckin. Grandpa Jimmy is a wood artist. He also photographs tons of wildlife and it decorates their home.
When Britton was just born, we took a 5 generation picture. This is 4 generations of Gunters. Breckin, Robbie, Britton, Jeff, Jimmy, Helen, Malia. Malia is holding a photo of a rabbit Grandpa Jimmy took.

Grandpa Jimmy and Grandma Helen. Grandma has not been feeling well and it was good to see her. I love Robbie's family. I have always felt like I was a part of them. I am never treated like an in law but like a daughter or granddaughter. I am blessed to be a part of such a crazy and amazing family.

State Champions for the 5th time

Since we moved here, Viewmont has won 5 out of the past 6 years. It has been so much fun being part of state championship teams. Robbie is an assistant coach and loves it. He coaches with some really great guys. We got to stay over this year and it was a lot of fun. Viewmont had the Championship won on the second day of wrestling. Robbie got to sit with us for a little while before final matches started. This year was crazy. I have never seen a pin in a finals match and this year there was 4 or 5 between 4A and 5A. Robbie with two wrestler he is going to miss. Richard and Ronnie
Viewmont 5A state champions
I spent way to much time taking photos of the kids, especially Breckin. I can never get them to smile cute. I finally caught one

Blowing Bubbles with Mom

We were in the car waiting for Robbie for what seemed like forever and so our bubble blowing fest began. Malia got pretty good by the end.

Draper Utah LDS (Mormon) Temple

On February 17 I got tickets for our family to go to the Draper Temple Open House. It was awesome. We met at a church and they showed a short video of why we build temples and then we got on the "red" bus and they hauled us up to the temple. It was so cold and a huge storm was hitting so we didn't get any pictures at the temple except in the tents that were set up to wait for the buses.
I love that the church never skimps on things. The craftsmanship of this building is truly amazing. I was amazed with the marble baseboards. Both of the ordinance rooms had hand painted floor to ceiling murals that were gorgeous.

My favorite part was at the end of the tour. They take you into a sealing room and talk to you and then you get to stand in front of the mirrors. They have huge mirrors placed on both walls so that when you look in you can see forever. By looking at the one in front you can see your posterity, at the one in back your ancestors. I was overwhelmed with emotions as a stood there looking on forever with my little family knowing that if we do all that we are suppose to that we can be together forever.

I am truly blessed.

Draper Utah LDS (Mormon) Temple: "Temple Facts
The Draper Utah Temple was the twelfth temple built in Utah and the third built in the Salt Lake Valley, following the Salt Lake Temple (1893) and the Jordan River Utah Temple (1981).
All but one of the art-glass windows for the Draper Utah Temple miraculously survived a fire in the warehouse where they were being stored prior to installation. There are 221 exterior windows, 50 interior windows, and 432 door panels for a total of 35,420 hand-cut pieces of glass.
The Draper Utah Temple is built of the finest materials including granite from China, Makore wood from Africa, and limestone from France.
The theme carried through the Draper Utah Temple is of the sego lily—Utah's state flower.
The Draper Utah Temple has the largest sealing room in the state of Utah.
Ordinance rooms in the Draper Utah Temple feature hand-painted panoramas of mountain scenes, a depiction of Draper's Corner Canyon and its view of the Salt Lake Valley.
The baptistry of the Draper Utah Temple is located on the downhill western side of the building, which allows for natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows."

Clive Cussler

So today is laundry day and I have really been trying to do at least one load everyday
so I am not so far behind all the time. The best part of laundry day is in between the 70 minute dryer cycles I get to read. OK I read everyday. In the past month I have read a good 25 books. Normally I can read one a day depending on what is going on. I honestly need to get more in my life. Anyway, I love Clive Cussler books. Rachelle got me totally hooked on them. They are like MacGyver and James Bond rolled up together. I love them. This is the newest one I have read and it was really great. I read so many books that sometimes I read them twice and usually I don't know it. It is like a new adventure all over again. I know I should be reading things that make me a better person but instead I read books that help me get out alive by using only a penny and a shoelace.

Albert

Malia is watching TV yesterday and I see that it is Little House on the Prairie. I only meant to sit down for a minute or two. But I got sucked in. It does it to me every time. I loved Albert. This episode was when Charles was going to adopt Albert and they ended up finding his real father but his real father doesn't want him. Albert pretends he is blind and the happy ending happens. Malia looks over at me and asks, "Are you crying?". I am starting to make ugly crying noise and I told her in that fabulous crying voice that I have how good it was that Albert was adopted and how much Charles loved him and called him son. Malia has that look on her face that tells me she really thinks I have lost it. Maybe I have but I still love Albert Ingalls

11 Tardies

One of my new years resolutions has been to get Malia to school on time. She has to be there by 8:45am. You would think I could manage that. Think again. I went to Malia's SEP(parent/teacher conferences) and her teacher said she was doing really good and then talked about the goals she needed to work on. #1Handwriting(This is awful I know but in my head I was thinking ya whatever we type everything anyway), #2No more Tardies. She has 11 tardies. What?? 11?? Today she was on time. When I was in the 6th grade I had a boy named Blake in my class. He was late everyday. I remember thinking how could he be late. Didn't his mom get him up. He must have had a mother like me.

State Champions

Breckin after a full day of wrestling. Tournaments are brutal
Britton Wrestling

This weekend we went to the 4A/5A Utah State Junior High State Tournament. The boys both wrestled in it and did really good. My camera doesn't take photos very well inside gyms and so none of them turned out very well but I will say both of the boys did and amazing job. There were 500 kids at Roy High school and my boys took 5th in their weight class. They both are a little beat up and have bruises(Brecks heps appliance was too long and it punctured a hole in his cheek on the inside and so he looks really good with all the stuff on his face and a huge swollen jaw) but I am so proud of them. They work really hard at this and it pays off for them. This is the crazy thing though. All of Utah's Jr highs wrestle right after football except for Davis county. We are now just starting the Jr High season. They wrestle with a club and so this is the end of most seasons and is the start of ours. This was just a warm up for CJH.
