I'll Admit it...I'm 29.

So, happy birthday to me. Can't exactly say it's been the best birthday. After all, it's Sunday, so we couldn't really go out and do anything fun. Plus with a surgery recovering husband who has also been sick all weekend, doing anything fun wouldn't have happened anyway. I briefly lamented to my mom (isn't that what mom's are for?) about how mom's never have great birthdays, because we still have to do everything AND make our own birthday cake. She understood, even if my husband didn't. At least I got to eat the yummy lemon cake that I made, so that wasn't so bad. And I got phone calls from my brothers and LOTS of well wishes on my facebook page (thanks everyone!).And as long as I get to share my birthday cake with these little cuties, I guess I really don't have much to complain about at all.

Seeing Eye to Eye

Dustin has had a dream for quite some time. We both have, actually. But whenever we have talked about it in the past, the conversation has always ended with a sigh and a "someday..."

Until today.

Today, Dustin fulfilled his dream of someone cutting open his eyeball and shooting a laser in there. Yep, today he got Lasik eye surgery. And I got to watch the whole thing on a nice big monitor. It was pretty crazy, and I'm sure my husband is rather relieved that I didn't have my camera to snap any shots of him in his beautiful blue puffy cap, or him squeezing a big teddy bear.

As for now, he just looks like this= (don't worry, it looks a lot worse than it is.)It was a very fast procedure and the recovery is going well. I'm so relieved, because his lack of vision has been driving me crazy for years. Maybe now he'll be able to see our gigantic TV and stop bugging me for an even bigger one!

Jensen is 11 months old Today

Jensen turns 11 months today, so we celebrated by cutting his hair (again - seriously, does it ever stop growing?) He continues to army crawl and is getting rather good at climbing into and over things. He loves to give kisses (especially to anyone wearing flavored lip gloss!) and he refers to me as "Vah, vah" because he just can't seem to figure out how to make an "M" sound.
It's pretty hard to believe that he's almost one. It certainly doesn't feel like a year has passed. He continues to be a source of laughter and fun in our home (and a constant reminder that I need to sweep my floor more often).

Our Trip= SLC & Baby J

Ah, what a trip we've had. This was the first time we have ever traveled during Christmas with our kids. It was an adventure, and they were sure excited to be home last night! With stops in St. George, Salt Lake City and Roosevelt, Utah, we racked up quite a few miles on the rental car we got in Vegas. Here's a little sampling of what we've been up to for the last 2 weeks...keep scrolling down, it was just too long for one post. You can also check out more stuff from our trip here (Thank you Jen and Adam for letting us crash at your place for so long!)

Here's our little bundled up family checking out the lights on Temple Square. (Thanks, Mom, for the adorable hats you made for the boys!) Our evening might have turned out a little better, but poor Jensen got an ear infection (after battling a cold the previous week) and we had to take him to an insta-care place that same night. Fortunately, after some Willow and Garlic Ear Oil and some antibiotics, and he was back to his smiling little self.

Isn't this funny? Thanks Jeff and Stephanie for the portable DVD player. It made our trip so much easier!

We also got to see my brother Eric and his wife Stephanie and their new baby Ashlyn while we were in Salt Lake. It was fun going out to lunch with them, but we were sad we couldn't spend more time hanging out.And our last night in Salt Lake we went out to eat with my old roommate, Ginger. It was fun to see her- even if we did have to wait for an hour to be seated at the Cheesecake Factory!!!

Our Trip= Sledding & Bowling

We were worried about our ability to defend ourselves from the snow and cold temperature that we knew we would inevitably encounter on our trip to Utah. Fortunately, dry air really doesn't feel as cold as we thought it would. And the snow...Carson couldn't have loved it more.Even when he took a spill with his cousins (that's him in the red pants with his bum in the air- on top of his cousin, Drew)......He wiped the snow out of his face......And kept on going! (SOOOO not Carson!)We also got the chance to go out bowling (adults only, thanks to our Fish and Hornbeck cousins). Thanks for schooling us Steph and Emily!

Our Trip=Christmas

We sure did have a fun Christmas this year.Jensen had fun playing with bows and Carson was so excited about everything he opened. We had a great time with our Jensen cousins and hope that Carson and his cousin Drew get to see each other again soon.
We had a good trip, but we're glad to be in our own beds now!
