Husker Time

We got the opportunity through Blake's work to go to a Husker football game a couple weeks ago.  They have the longest sellout record for the stadium--something like 203 years, I think.  Maybe a few less.  Did they have football 203 years ago?  I don't know.

I think the Huskers might have invented football.

They certainly get excited in a big way.

Some good friends were able to join us.

Which pretty much meant that we two ladies in the middle talked most of the game while the boys watched and occasionally tried to yell to each other some comment actually related to the game.

Super fun date time.

You might notice a little certain something missing from this photo.  A certain someone, is a little more accurate.  This was our first date without her.  I missed her a ton, but was so reassured knowing she was in the more than capable ands of another good friend of ours.

We went to a tailgate party beforehand (super awesome good times for non-drinkers, like ourselves), so it was a long afternoon and evening without her.  But, she was recovering from croup and those two teeth.  The few days leading up to this, she basically never let me put her down and she was back to eating every 2 1/2 hours through the night, just like a newborn.  So, as much as I missed her, it was kind of a timely break for me.

And it was a long overdue chance to catch up with my good friend.  Thanks for joining us last minute!

We didn't plan our hats, by the way.  We're both just naturally cute and fashionable.

Lips and Teeth

Just some random photos I took of my two babies the other day.

He's such a ham.

For those of you who missed it, Lanaya sprouted two teeth a couple of weeks ago.

TWO!

Have I mentioned how much I love this face?

Can you see the little teeth in there?

She wasn't super cooperative in showing them off, but with a smile this sweet, who needs to see those early sprouts?  Actually, one of her favorite things to do ever since the first of those two teeth popped up is to suck her lower lip back over her teeth.  It's hard to describe, but pretty funny to watch.

This was the day she turned 5-months old, by the way.  She's pretty much more of the same, as far as personality goes.  She is still super giggly and sweet.  Very chatty, too.

She's starting to sort of be able to sit up, with a bit of a slump.  For a split second, before she slides forward onto her face.  It could just be her chubby belly that props her up for that brief moment.

And we still get massive amounts of comments about her sweet cheeks every time we step out.  Turns out, people never tire of chubby cheeks.

Let's be honest, she's beautiful.

So Excited To Share!!!!

It's family picture time!  Get excited because these are great.  I'm still struggling to choose a favorite to put on the wall because I love them so much!  Thanks to my talented friend who took them!

Trey was his typical grumpy gus self.  So fun.

Exhibit A.

A little closer look at that face.  Ah hah!  It makes me laugh so much.  I love it.

And actually, I really like the personality caught for pretty much everyone in this picture.  It just makes me happy to look at this photo.

I love my family.

They say the best way to have a natural smile is to pretend you're talking to a small child.  Turns our, looking at a real live baby works as well.  I'm a huge fan of this one too.

Zima gave him this lovely scratch two days before.  That's a prerequisite for family pictures, right?

Those eyes are going to slay the ladies in the not too distant future.

They melt my heart pretty much every day.

My beautiful beautiful princess.

Isn't she pretty?

Speaking of eyes...

You don't have to have a happy smile when you've got eyes like that.

But, this one has the happy smile down in spades.

These pictures make me too happy.

She is such a princess.

OhmygoodnessIlovethatface!  I can't help myself when I see her.  I'm just completely overcome with love and adoration and a desire to smooch her all over.

And yet another fabulous photo!  I just keep looking at them.  Is that normal?

At The Core

Drum Roll, Please.....

Badabadabada--Ba-Da-Ching!

Yeah, that's how I spell a drum roll.

With this post (as random a post as it is), I am caught up.

On my blog.

This here blog.

It's been over a year since that happened.

Maybe I can handle four children after all.

Because blogging skills are the true indicator of that sort of thing.

This is random, but to all those questioning the difference between farm fresh eggs and all of the others--this is it.  There is one farm fresh egg from a properly fed chicken in this bowl.  And here's the kicker--the other two are from supposed organic free range, cage free chickens, but were purchased in the store, not at a farm.

And just so you know, color and size are the least significant differences between these eggs.  I'm not a crazy egg person, or anything, but the taste of the real eggs is significantly better!  They are richer and everything made with these eggs is too!

Remember when I said Lanaya needed to work on her core?

She's doing well, don't you think?

Her new (to us) Bumbo seat is helping.  (And she's entering that fun stage of reaching for her toes--more pics to come, I promise!  I love that!)

Speaking of feet, aren't they adorable?

Happy Haunting!

So, last year, I went a little overboard on the Halloween foods.  Thankfully, my in-laws were in town and my mother-in-law helped quite a bit.  But, I remember sitting down and feeling so utterly exhausted and too tired to stand back up.

When I took a pregnancy test a couple days later, it suddenly made sense.

Oddly enough, I'm still really tired.  So, I tried to go light on the festive fixin's.

Apple Monster Mouths and Clementine Jack-o-Lanterns.

I need a punch bowl.  This was a ribcage in red punch.  Everyone thought it was a brain.  I guess that still works, but it wasn't what I was going for.

Tentacle Pot Pie.  This is the extra large version.  If I do it again, I think I'll make fewer tentacles, but make them a little wider.

This was the baby Tentacle Pot Pie.  Uneven tentacles.  But, Trey was doing all he could to destroy my dough and so, I had to just throw these together with a lot less time and care than I would have liked.

Still, I think they turned out kind of cute.

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to eat it before we had to hurry off to the Trunk-or-Treat.

Shockingly, the kids weren't too upset about this.

A prize to anyone who can name all of them.

Fabulous family picture, no?

This is Blake trying to barter for better candy with the children passing by.  Just thought I'd catch him on camera.

This was the first year that I just bought the costumes.  Those of you who have been following this blog for years know that I typically get quite excited about making the kids' costumes.  This was my favorite year.

But, this year I just felt too tired.  And then, when they decided it had to be Star Wars costumes, that sealed the deal.

So, I bought three costumes for the oldest three, intending to have Lanaya go as a pea pod that we already have.  But, I made the mistake of saying something about "Princess Lanaya-Leia".  And thus, this had to be:

I'm kind of proud of it.  I made it by making buns out of yarn and using hairpins to a brown hat we already had.  And then, I made some holes in a pillow case.  The only part of this costume I had to buy.

I'll be honest, the whole thing made me pretty happy.  Multiple people asked for pictures of her while we were out and about.  That probably had everything to do with her amazing cheeks, but it still made me feel all the more proud of my one homemade costume this year.

I forgot to take a picture, but the kids got way too much candy because, of course the trunk-or-treat wasn't enough and we had to case the neighborhood after.  It was adorable watching Trey run his tiny little legs up all of the steps.  He couldn't keep up with Kayli and Bryce and was apparently coming down with Strep, but he had a complete blast.  And, we were blessed with amazingly nice weather.

All in all, a great Halloween.

I hope you enjoyed yours.  And if you need some sugar, feel free to come and get it.

When Yoda Is Sick

Yoda's dad was sick, too.

And we were supposed to do the annual Halloween Booing at the Zoo.

Fortunately, Yoda was not old enough to remember this tradition.  Sill, I had two very sad siths (?) on my hands.

So, the three of us snuck off in the night.

Can you guess which one this is?

Or, this one?

They are so fierce!

Darth Maul is so fierce he (she) doesn't even need to look where he (she) points her light saber!

We were pretty excited to find one booth all decked out with fellow Star Wars freaks fans.

We took this picture for our sick little Yoda.  I bet you didn't know that Yoda is currently obsessed with Cookie Monster.
