A Few of Our Summer Highlights

Bryce and his cousin Josh. These two are in a contest to see who can be the biggest member of our family. After our loooong flight from NYC to Utah, we drove what was supposed to be a 12-hour drive to Genessee, ID to see my brother Ryan and his family. I think it ended up being more like 15, or so. But it was definitely worth it. We got to see my grandparents in Boise and we got to be there for Kylie's baptism, Kayli and Natalie were instant best friends, and I had a complete blast in between missing Blake who was off in California on business.

We went to a local orchard a couple of times. The first time for raspberries and strawberries that would have set a record for their size--the smallest I've ever seen. And more recently we picked the most delicious apples and peaches. This shows a small portion of the orchard. Kayli ate more berries than she put in her basket and picked up some lovely apples from the ground. Such a helper.

Sailing on the Woody Guthrie with my parents. We took a 2 1/2 hour tour of the Hudson River by night. We had some good winds and it was just perfect for sailing. Next year, if my dad joins the sloop club, you can all come try it. Hopefully, that man sitting behind Kayli will be there again. He kept her happy with crackers and cheese and would have given her sushi if I would let him.

Kayli can't ride enough carousels.  This one was at the New England Fair at the Big E in West Springfield, MA.

We went to the beach a few times. If you haven't heard yet, ask Kayli what happened when she "drank the ocean". She thought it was "SICK! SICK! SICK!" I never get tired of hearing it.

Kayli and her cousins Ella and Christian enjoying popsicles at Grandma & Grandpa Roper's house. For some reason, Kayli has a mean look on her face in every picture of her eating this. She had so much fun playing with all of her cousins (except Elena :( who we didn't get to see) on our trip. And Grandma and Grandpa's cats. She keeps asking for them. I'm pretty sure they don't miss her at all.

Kayli and her hot pink boots. Need I say more?

Fenway Park! Our first Red Sox game. We cheered them on to victory over Toronto. I'm still not a baseball fan, but I really liked the Red Sox. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anyone who could figure out how to get a picture of us AND the field. They all thought we just wanted a picture of us. Blake took this one with his expert skills.

It's been so busy, Blake hasn't really had much time for personal hygiene.  Maybe next summer we'll stay home a bit more.

These Boots Were Made for Snowplaying

I bought Kayli snowgear last weekend, so she immediately wanted to play in the snow. Unfortunately, we've been having some very unusual 90 degree weather lately. Dead grass and no snow. We told her that the snow would come after all the leaves fall off the trees. She asked to go outside, then started yelling, "Hey, trees! Hey, trees!" and asked them to lose their leaves. Very smart thinking, but we're still waiting.
