Funnies

This little peanut of ours really seems to be growing up lately. She's talking more like a kid and less like a toddler, and it's pretty darn funny.  Don't you wish our brains had a DVR in them so we could replay some of these precious, hilarious moments and remember them all perfectly? That would be awesome. I am the world's worst at writing or recording these things,  I am already regretting it. So, here goes, I'm recording a few that I can think of at the moment.

  • A few weeks ago, we were at my sister's for dinner when Crew decided to pull a chunk of hair out of Macey's head. It really was a chunk. Katie picked it up after Crew had discarded it and when Macey saw it in Katie's hand, she ran over, ripped it out of Katie's hand and exclaimed "Hey! That's MY hair!" and then proceeded to put it back on her head.
  • Macey is really in to learning about gospel-related things right now. Easter was really fun and she got really into the whole Story about Christ's death and resurrection, but the think that reaallly seemed to stick in her mind is the tomb. If you bring up Jesus around her, doesn't matter what story you are telling her, she will say "Jesus was in the tomb. But then he came out!" She's really got that part down. She's also really into the Holy Ghost. We will have lengthy, and circular, conversations about him. "Where's the Holy Ghost?" "Does the Holy Ghost live in our hearts" "The Holy Ghost helps us." " Can you see the Holy Ghost?" she loves talking about him.
  • Tonight as I was piggy backing Macey to bed, I picked her blankey up off the floor and tossed it on my head, kinda veil-like or like waaaayy-back-when like. Macey immediately started cracking up and said "you're like Jesus, Mom, you're like Jesus" laughter. I was so confused for second then asked if the blanket on my head looks like what Jesus would wear. I was spot on. She thought it was beyond hilarious.
  • You may know her as Macey, but 60% of the time she is either "Scarlett or Chili" Let's just say she's watched her fair share of Horseland. We are all horses in this house. I'm whichever of those 2 she isn't, and Benton is always Aztec. This is how we refer to each other. There's also a lot of communication through winneying or naying during the day.
  • She has a cereal cocktail for breakfast every morning. It usually consists of any combination of Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Annie's fruity O's, corn flakes and Honey Bunches of Oats. It's so gross. She loves it so much, she has 2 bowls.
  • If she's not a horse, she's a princess. So am I. Today she was singing "I'm a princess, so is Mommy....daddy is the prince..." So I said back "what about Crew? Is he a prince too" without skipping a beat, she kept on singing " No, he isn't a prince becuase he is the king..." and ended with a very dramatic and high pitched big finish.
  • She's been carrying around a penny for a couple days now, not really sure why. And today she insisted on putting it in her shoe and walking around with it in there all day. Whatever. Then today at kids' club, I mentioned it to Tiffany, and she said, " oh that's from Primary" Apparently a few weeks ago in primary, they told the kids to put a penny in their shoe and every time the feel it, to think about Jesus. I don't know if she got the entire meaning, but she sure remembered that little challenge, weeks later, and was very protective of her penny all day.
I know there are a gazillion other little tid bits. She's been really, really fun lately. I sure like that spunky, stubborn girl. Now if only she would learn to use the potty and cut back on the whining. Love ya, Scarlett!

A Super Benton Birthday

The cake (don't mind the frosting coming through Benton's face)

,Aunt Charla gave Crew his own cup of orange soda. If you ever need to bride him, you know what to use
the Big Super Benton cake reveal
they don't kid around when it comes to Lemon slices at Joe's
Crew with food in his hand-shocker ;) nope. And little miss Bree- isn't she just beautiful?

Benton is now the ripe age of 29! He's been that old since January actually. Let me try to recap the day's events. We had planned on getting his free breakfast from Liberty Market to go, so we wouldn't have to take the kids to an early sit-down breakfast, that just spells disaster. But they changed their darn policy so you can't get take out for your bday meal. boo. So, I made breakfast and it was yummy.
We decided to meet for lunch and eat more free food, and I really don't recall even settling on a time. Apparently Benton thought we were gonna meet at 1, and so when we called me at 1:00 wondering where I was, and I was in Phoenix with Tiffany picking up a Christmas tree and hitting up Last Chance, I felt really bad. Wife of the year award right here!
We did catch each other at home for a few minutes before he headed back to work and he even saved me a few bites of his free birthday food, what a nice guy!

I set out to redeem myself and whipped up Benton's favorite Caramel Brownies and the coolest ever "Super Benton" cake. Benton secretly wishes he was superman.
We met up with family and friends at Joe's Farm Grill for the last free meal of the day and to celebrate the birthday boy! We had a good ol time stuffing our faces and hanging out with everyone. It ended up being a great day and Old Man Benton can't call me old anymore, at least for a few more months. :)
Thanks to all who came, it meant a lot to us! We Love you Benton!! Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!
