Drought

Hi, so I haven't posted anything new for awhile, but I guess I've been waiting for something exciting to happen, and apparently compared to New York, nothing is exciting.

But here's an update on our now, apparently, boring lives:
  • Our house is officially on the market!! woohoo!! No showings yet, but it's only been 3 days.
  • Matta's is closed.... sad face. Temple trips will never be the same, but as long as we can hit up dairy queen after El Charro (not my favorite place) I'll live
  • It's a birthday hallapalooza around here!! Rachel, Anne, Stacy, Mom, Brooke & Bethany, and Benton!! (Benton's is on Sunday, he should be excited! ) Happy Birthday to you all!!!!
  • Amber had her baby!!!
  • I cooked a real meal for the first time this year, yesterday. Poor Benton he probably thought I'd given up for good.
  • Tonight in Dillard's, a male worker ( I'm sure he was not straight) complemented me on my necklace for a full 2 minutes, nice but mildly awkward. Charla, you should be proud!!

Well, that's all I can come up with for a time being. I promise there will be more exciting posts in the near future.

New Years in NYC

Benton and I just got back from our AMAZING trip to NYC. So, here are some of the highlights from our trip, I'll try to limit it, there's just so much though! New York is an incredible place and there's TONS of stuff to do, we didn't come close to getting it all done, but we squeezed in a LOT. Thank you again Amber and Doug for letting us come you are wicked awesome and I miss you guys already!! We hope you get in some good rest before the baby comes.

So, before I post the pics, here are a few things I learned about NYC while I was there:
It's so HUGE but everything is so close together, weird, but very handy
  • You have to be insane, or very drunk, to brave New Years Eve in Times Square
  • If you're one of the sane ppl that chooses not to stand like a sardine in Times Sq. for 8 hours, you'll find it's the only night the NYC sleeps, everything shuts down early, everything! Except for one really good Italian place that delivers, thank goodness. It's an odd feeling being in the city and having nothing to do.
  • It gets cold, understatement, it is Bone chilling Freezing!!!! especially by the water, I suggest you steer clear of that during winter months.
  • The colder it gets the more children you see without faces. (the result of parents' extreme bundling)
  • New York has some GOOD eats, but it turns out chicken, bleu cheese, honeymustard and buffalo sauce isn't a good combo.
  • From my observations, there are far more foreigners than Americans there, we heard every language out there and no NY accents.

On to the highlights:

Top-of-the-Rock observatory (the roof of Rockafeller Center 69 floors up, awesome view!)

Dinner at Max Brenner's "Chocolate by the bald man" it's gooood

Being dorks on the subway The church building we attempted to go to church at. We were there at the right time, but there was no church going on...... but it's a sweet building huh?

In front of the Met, that place is massive!!! And you don't have to pay $20 to get in!
