A Few Pictures

This is what's hanging in Trent's apartment. Can you see the
"improvements" Trent made to his companions wall hangings?

Week ending May 21st

It's been an interesting food week for Trent.
His "great news" is that he bought a grill. It was only $10.00 at Wal-Mart. He even marinated some chicken overnight and grilled it the next day. He says that p-days will now be filled with grilling.

Last Saturday they were invited for a crawfish boil. He said, "it was alright. I did suck the head off for the spices. I am not the biggest fan. It's too much work to get that little amount of meat. They also had some gumbo that was excellent."

He reports that graduation for LA Tech was last week so everything is going to slow down for the summer. He also went to Shreveport this past week for zone conference.

Week ending May 14th

Trent didn't have a whole lot to say after just being able to talk on Mothers Day. We did receive a package from him with his memory card from his camera. I will be posting a few pictures soon. For now, here he is with his companion Elder Corless in their car.

Trent usually leaves us a one-liner at the end of each email. Often it's a quote from a movie, tv or a song. This weeks was from the movie Cool Runnings.

"Peace be da journey".

Mothers Day Call and more photos

We had a great call from Trent on Mothers Day. We were able to talk for a while. He conveniently called during the Jazz game. He started the call with, "What's the Score?" We were able to give him updates during the call. He sounded really good. He was able to fill us in on many details that get left out of his weekly emails. He said that he would probably be in Ruston until at least August. In his mission you are trained for 2 transfers. Then your trainer gets transferred and you have at least one transfer with a follow-up trainer. (for those of you who don't know, a transfer is 6 weeks)

Week ending May 7, 2008

Transfers this week, but not for Trent or his companion. One of the Elders from his district was transferred. Conincidently, Trent had played football against him at West.

Weather has been a concern for family. So to report, Trent said, "The parish (county) I live in is very good about not getting tornados, so I haven't heard much about them. But we have had a lot of rain and a lot of thunder and lightning".

He was invited to eat at the Condie's house again. He is the assistant basketball coach for Louisiana Tech. They have been really nice to him. They don't get many dinner appointments so it's nice to have a family invite them over.

Speaking of food. I had asked Trent how the food is going. Anything strange yet? His reply was, "I am in America. I eat American food". He was taken out to dinner by Karl Malone's body guard. He also sent this picture. Which leads me to believe he is eating alphabet spaghetti O's and toast.

Photos from the MTC

Trent was finally able to email a few photos home.
The first few are from the MTC.

Week of April 30th, 2008

Trent reports that all is well in Louisiana. Although it is heating up. He said that he thinks the Pres. is going to let them wear shorts. That sounds like Trent.

They have been teaching a 19 year old guy. He had a baptism date set. He didn't show up to church last week. He later called and told them that his mom won't let them visit him any more and the baptism is off. He'll see what happens now.

He is still trying to get his bike fixed, even though it's brand new. But he doesn't seem too worried about it because they have a car too.

He gets Jazz updates. So he is hoping they can finish off Houston. Same old Trent!

*short report-that's about all we get too
