WOW!

Whooo-hooo-hooo! Where does the time go?!
I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted.

I guess moving and
trying to get situated and
organized and
finishing projects and
teaching the kids and
studying up on how to keep a house and
teaching the kids how to cook and
teaching the family how to keep the house clean and
going running and biking and
prepping for a 5k and
prepping for a triathlon next spring and
trying to read more books and
returning library books (and
paying some late fees) and
preparing for Debany's baptism and
invitations and
holiday planning and
decorating and
finishing the basement and
cleaning the basement first and
wrapping up some projects and
collecting more projects and... well, maybe you get the idea.

BUT, I'm sure you want to know that you're not the only one who struggles with all these day-to-day things... so I've got to get back into the swing of things.

So, I'M BACK!!!!!!
Hold on to your britches... there's lots to come!

We Have Grass

Side yard (to back)
Side yard (to front)

Sprinklers not working completely yet. Hoping grass lasts.
Thankful for the rain - makes watering the lawn by hand 3 times/day much easier.

Sod Day Party

We had a big party with music, food, and drinks.
Lots of people showed up.
We worked hard.

(Knew better. Insults are like salt on a wound.)

Inspection Day

So, the inspector came and looked at all 6 houses on Thursday.
Our house. Getting inspected.
So, while we were getting ready for inspections, I had the fun task of removing all the winter snow mats (about 12 or so) from the 5 houses that had them and haul them down the street to the trailer, unroll them and fold them correctly, drag them onto the trailer and into a pile.

Nice and neat.
I felt pretty good!
... And I was there to take care of the little things that the inspector found that could be fixed right away.

(Okay, and when I had 5 mats left, 'the supervisor' moved the trailer closer to the houses that had them. - Expecting some insult soon.)

Silly Sammy Slick...

... is sick, sick, sick.

Okay, it's really mommy.
Really feeling out of the loop.
Not able to work on the house,
or pack up the other house.
How did this happen?!
A cold that lasts more than a week,
and a stomach ache that lasts 3 days and ends...
let's just say, 'not so happy.'

*HOW MUCH LONGER?!*
May 1st is looming ever so closer.
(reaches for the door...)

Must... have... house... ready... to... ...show.
(crashes in bed.)

Back in the Saddle Again

After a week without a working cell phone, I now have a new phone!
(and I LIKE!)
And the stockpile of AA batteries has been gone now for a couple of weeks.
SO... a new camera, I now have!
(and Walmart, I'm sorry, but your site to store was really LAME! It took FOREVER - and delayed?! Yeah, I needed it asap, and 3 days LATER than the WEEK you told me it would take to get here is 'not happy.' Sorry.)

BUT, I'm glad to have them!
And you're benefitting again now, too!
Yeah!

Closer to Home

Monday : Surprise
"We're getting carpet!"
We were expecting to be the last, so while they were putting down boards I had to vacuum all the little rocks that would've been permanently under our carpet.

Our floor got padded down.

and then the carpet was added!
Carpet in the entry turned out real nice!
Look! Extra...
More news:
cabinets in, bathroom countertops in...

Kitchen cabinets in.
(and countertops, I heard, are in - but I haven't seen it yet.)
Dane says they look good!
Sprinklers are prepped, just need to trench.
And steps to the backyard are ready to go in, just need the cement slab poured.
Lights/electricity is in (a few lights not done yet), and numbers are up!
(I did the numbers.)
More rocks were received and now we can finish our stone!

Caught Red-Handed!

What's all that 'ooohing' and 'aaaahing' down in the basement?!
Staining.

Time to stain the handrails...
"oooh! aaaahh!"
Isn't that perrtiful?!
Top: Wild Cherry

Bottom: Mohagany
"ooooooh!!!!"
All things needed for staining: stain, sandpaper, rags, drill...

Just love this color!
Lesson: Stain stains.
How do I keep my hands from getting like this?
One more item needed for staining: GLOVES!
And then it was time to INSTALL!
p.s. that's our handrail!!!
(pecan stain)
