Getting Ready for Winter

This fall was absolutely beautiful in our neck of the woods.  The golf course was open every weekend until nearly the middle of November and the leaves were vibrant up and down the valley.

For the first time in his life, Dave had to rake leaves and Genevieve decided to join him.  Here she is playing in our driveway and heading over to the neighbors to see their labradors.  She is crazy about dogs and has even driven her parents to consider the impossible idea of actually buying a dog.

As the cold days began to outnumber the warm days, Genevieve has also developed some indoor skills.  One of her favorite pastimes has become artwork.  Here is her first attempt at greatness.  Eat your heart out Michelangelo.

Dave's Flying Lesson

I'm sure that many of you know that Dave loves to fly.  He doesn't necessarily like going to the airport and waiting for delayed flights or the lack of leg and hip room that has become the norm, but once he is in the air, he is in heaven.  He has had a fascination with flying since he was a little boy and Becca decided to finally let him begin to live one of his dreams.  For his 30th birthday in May, Becca got Dave an introductory flight lesson flying from Grand Junction to Moab and back.  On November 10th, he finally cashed in.

Needless to say, Dave loved it!!!  He was stoked that the instructor allowed him to do so much on his own and surprised that he really only needed help with the final piece of both landings.

Genevieve wasn't really impressed with the whole flying thing, but she had a great time playing with rocks while daddy was in the air.

A Day at Rock Bottom Ranch

With all of the excitement of Halloween in the past, Genevieve and her girlfriends decided to go see some good old fashioned country living at the beginning of November.  They took their moms to Rock Bottom Ranch, a local ranch/petting zoo.

Genevieve loved the chickens, turkeys and goats that were there. I don't know when I'll have the courage to explain to her that what we had for Thanksgiving is the same as some of the animals that she loved so much at the ranch.

Happy Halloween!

It may not have been Genevieve's first Halloween, but it was her first year to actively celebrate it. And, did she have fun! We went to a church Halloween party last Saturday night, dressed in costume for her music class on the morning of Halloween, and attended a friend's "wee-ones" party later that night. It was a lot of fun and really cute! Here are some pics to share and show off the fun!
