Changes

Changes are happening in the baker household. I have finally decided to just buckle down and potty train this little energetic two year old of mine. We almost had her fully potty trained but then I got pregnant with Brock and all good intentions went flying out the window. For the past few weeks Sydney has been letting me know again when she is poopy and she really doesn't like it when she has a wet diaper so Seth and I decided that we just need to take a week and potty train 24/7!

We went to the store and bought her some big girl panties. Of course I was trying to decided between princess panties and doggy panties and then I herd Sydney squeal "Abby Cadabby, Elmo, Abby Cadabby!" I looked and down at the very bottom was Elmo underwear. Sydney is in love with Elmo these days so I thought that they were the perfect thing!

Sydney is very excited about her big girl elmo underwear. She will carry them around and gets very excited when she gets to wear them!

Cute little booty!!! Right now she is just wearing her panties over her pull ups but starting Monday it will be only panties! (I think I may be a little bit crazy!!)

Brocky is getting bigger every time I blink! He likes to be up looking at everything, so I finally pulled out the jumperoo and the exersaucer. He is a little bit wobbly in them but they will entertain him for a good 5-10 minutes(as long as he can see me).

He also has found his voice and has been cooing, grunting, growling and yelling all the time. He is very close to rolling over and I have got him to giggle twice. He loves to be tickled.
Sydney is her usual energetic self. She has been literally bouncing of the walls! She has been so wild that she fell on the 24th and we were sure that she broke her leg! 3 1/2 hours later spent at instacare that wasnt the case but she refused to walk for three days and now she mostly limps around, unless she can get one of us to carry her places. Sydney is loving having friends come over. She asks all day if someone can come over and play! When school starts up in a few weeks I will start babysitting again. Sydney is going to be so excited to have her friends come play every day!

***By the way I am looking for one or two more babysitting kids (full or part time) if anyone knows anybody that is looking for a babysitter.***
Brock smiling at the animals hanging from his jumperoo.

Check out this kids eyelashes!!! They are so long that they almost look girly to me. Sydney and Brock are both lucky to have inherited Seth's uber long eyelashes.

Dear So and So

Dear Dishwasher,

I know that for the past few weeks you have been giving me signs that you were breaking down, but for some reason I just refused to believe it. It all started with the suspicious water that sometimes leaked out the bottom of you and spread across the floor. Then you started to moan and groan like an old man getting up from the couch when ever we turned you on. Today you finally had enough and started to smoke, my kitchen smelled like a camp fire. I know that I saw this coming these past few weeks, but I just wasn't ready for it. I will miss you my old friend. You have served us well this past four years, and I am sad to see you go.

RIP

sincerely,
the woman with the dish pan hands

Dear Baby Brocky,

I am so sorry that you have this awful cold. I fully understand that you don't feel good, with a sore throat, a cough and that you are all stuffed up. Would it be to much to ask for you to sleep for longer periods on your own? Don't get me wrong, I love to snuggle you and make you feel better, that is what mommy's do. However, it would be so nice if I could get a shower, clean clothes and brush my teeth, with out you screaming and crying because I am not holding you. It would also be nice to get a little more sleep at night, 3-4 hours just isn't enough. While we are at it could you please try not to get so upset when I use the booger sucker on you to help you breathe better. I don't enjoy sucking your boogers, it is just something that needs to be done. Thanks! I hope you start feeling better soon!

love,
the smelly mommy with the blood shot eyes

Dear two year old,

I would appreciate it if you tried a little harder not to get into trouble as soon as I turn my back.

Thanks,
the cleaner of the all the mess a.k.a the maid

My cute kids

Next week on the 23rd my little boy is going to be 3 months old! Where did the time go? You have to admit though he is pretty dang cute!!
A few things about Brock at 3 months old are:
  • He still loves his mommy over everyone else but he is starting to like his Daddy and sister too.
  • He hates to be put down
  • He sleeps with Mommy all night long
  • He likes to look at his toys, Mobile's, Daddy's hair, and the Jesus calendar on the wall
  • tolerates tummy time for short periods
  • will only lay on the floor by the sliding glass window because he likes to look at the leaves on the tree.
  • He has only taken a bottle twice.....hates it!
  • Loves to chew on his fists, and to slobber everywhere
  • is pretty darn fussy most of the time, we are still trying to figure out his acid reflux meds.
  • He will stop and smile at anyone that talks to him
  • He has started to coo a lot.
  • Still has to be swaddled to sleep
  • He is starting to get a few bald patches on the back of his head,(sniff) but for the most part his hair still covers them
  • Loves to play in the bath water
  • He usually sleeps from about 9 p.m. to around 3 a.m.
  • He has just grown out of his 0-3 month clothes and his size one diapers.

So he hasn't actually slept in his crib yet but he will sometimes be content to lay in it and watch his mobile.
Love him!!!

So Sydney hates sitting still for pictures but I thought that I would try to get a few anyway. She was all over the place jumping and wiggling and ruining the black sheet I had tacked on the wall. Seriously it was a joke. I finally pulled out some Smarties and she sat still long enough for me to get just a few decent pictures. Do two year olds ever run out of energy?

Don't let those big brown eyes fool you, this little girl is full of trouble! Today I took a shower and she found a roll of toilet paper, unrolled it all over the dog, the kitchen and the family room. Then she dumped out the dog food and played in the dogs water. Then she spilled the kitty litter everywhere. As if that wasn't enough she dumped her spaghetti all over the top of the kitty as she was trying to feed it her noodles. All of this happened within about an hour time period. No wonder I am such a dead Mommy!

Tuesday Confessional

So I saw this on Emma's blog and loved it so I decided to do one too!

So I really kind of thought that I had this Mom thing in the bag like I was finally at a point that I could handle all the ups and downs that is accompanied with having little ones around. If not in the bag than I at least felt like I was doing an all right job of it. Yeah, being a mom is harder than I thought it would be and I will be the first to admit it. Being a Mom to Sydney is hard. Being a Mom to Sydney and a new born is much harder. You never know what each day will bring, laughter or tears, pain or happiness, love beyond belief, or moments that I want to rip my hair out and list my children on e-bay to the highest bidder.

I don't know exactly what it is, but I am having a hard time with my energetic little two year old. She is into EVERYTHING!!! Sydney is into this curious stage where she needs to get into, climb on, open, spill, touch everything. Everything has to be done NOW, and if not she falls on the floor and cries. Of course I don't give in to her tantrums, but how do you explain to a two year old the concept of "wait just a minute". Everyday she does more and more naughty things until I wish that I had a straight jacket to put her in. Today for example she colored all over the bathroom with bathtub crayons while I took a shower. She opened up the flour container and threw handfuls of flour at the kitty. She was painting with watercolors and started painting on the wall. She wanted to swim in her pool and by the time I had it filled and had changed her into her swim suit she refused to play in it(all this while Brock was screaming in the background). She picked up the kitty from the table and threw her on the floor. I feel like I have no control over anything. Every day is like this and I feel like I am just going to one mess after another doing damage control. Time outs don't even seem to phase her. In fact sometimes she lays in the corner and pretends to sleep during her timeouts.

Please tell me that this is what every two year old is like because I am starting to feel like I must be the only one and I am the worst mother ever. Is she to spoiled? Is she used to getting everything she wants and all of my attention and that is why she is acting like this? Please I need answers so that I don't feel like I am the only one with a child that is out of control.

Sydney has always been a very strong spirited little girl. I believe that she has to be to deal with the many physical trials that she will have in the future and that she had in the past. She was born this way, she was a fighter from her very first breath. How do I channel her spirit and energy into better outlets? Where do I find the time to channel her energy? Brock takes up so much of my time. I love the little guy to pieces but he is a very fussy baby and needs to be held constantly or he gets very upset. Usually he lest me put him down for one of his naps during the day. That gives me enough time to maybe shower, get Sydney ready for the day and do a little bit of cleaning, some days I don't even get that much done. Sometimes I feel like I don't even have time to breathe between the both of them. Today I didn't even have time to eat lunch or dinner. As I am typing this Brock is downstairs screaming his guts out with Seth and I am to so physically and emotionally drained that I don't even want to go downstairs and deal with it.

So to all you Mommy's out there with more that one baby(and those of you that don't), How do you do it? What are your secrets? How can I have more patience with my little girl? Any and all advice would be wonderful!

***Sorry for such a downer post!****

Summer lovin'

Sydney is finally starting to like her little brother just a little bit....its about time. She will climb up into his crib and pile all his toys around him. Yesterday she even went up to him and gave him a kiss on his head! If he is crying she will sometimes go over and talk to him and tell him "it's okay baby rock."

Seth and I think that this little boy is going to have blue eyes, just like his Daddy has. I am so in love with this little guy! I think that his crazy growing spurt is finally slowing down. He used to need to eat every 2 hours, but now he is going 4-5 hours between feedings. The past two night he has gone up to 8 hours before he wakes up hungry. When he first started waiting for longer periods without eating I was convinced that something was wrong with him. I thought for sure he was sick or something crazy was going on. I am so insane sometimes. My mom took one look at him and the huge smiles he was giving her and told me that I was delusional and that he was just fine.

The other day Seth was about to get in his car after work and his car started meowing. He opened the hood and found this tiny black kitten sitting on his engine. It was hot, dirty and hungry, after being there all day, so he brought it home with him. Sydney is in love with her. She is the perfect cat for a little kid. She lets Sydney carry her around everywhere and loves to snuggle on laps. We are trying to find it a new home so if anyone is interested please let me know!

Brock is learning to sit up in the Bumbo. For the most part he does pretty well in it, as long as he can see me.

Sydney loves to play in the water on our back patio. I put off buying her a little pool this year until she started using this bucket at a pool. She would fill it up with water and squat in it. I felt so bad that she had to use this white trash pool so I finally went and got her a 10 dollar one at target.

Sydney loves party hats! Lately she will carry around a play ice cream cone and put it on all her animals as a party hat. Then she will put it on herself and on us. She is totally into the birthday parties and party hats so I went and got her some real party hats, she loves them!

Brock has some of the cutest smiles lately! He gets these huge grins, and his nose crinkles up and his whole body wiggles because he is so happy! I love it! It melts my heart every single time, even when he is awake at 4 o'clock in the morning!
