Can't wait to spread some color around our house, to fill the pots and gardens with these beauties.

April Showers?!?!
After another week of lovely spring weather we woke up to this today:
Although it is April, it was still so beautiful to see and so fun (the perfect snowman/fort building kind of snow)! Knowing that it will melt away in just days also helped the enjoyment factor.
T had the day off so he joined us for gymnastics which was much appreciated by his pregnant wife. It was fun to just sit back, relax and enjoy watching the classes
Just had to post this one pic of the back side of AL to show just how long her hair had gotten. Right after class was over I took her and had a good 6 inches cut off! (Just couldn't do the tangled hair/brushing battle everyday any more ;)
After school we got out and enjoyed this perfect winter storm. The kids and T built me my very own snow MAN, complete with abs and huge biceps! T said that now I would have some extra manly company when he is at work....ha!
After dinner we got out the spray bottles and food coloring and had even more fun!
Here's to hoping that even this type of April Shower will still bring May flowers.

Spring Break Highlights
Last week was spring break and we enjoyed some glorgious glimpses of spring time weather with a few reflections on winter all in the same week. It really was so nice to have no where to be, no pressing schedules and having General Conference at the end of the week was the perfect relaxing and inspirational thing to top it off.
A few highlights:
1. A play day visit on Monday from our best friends that moved a way a few months ago. The kids loved every minute of it and so did I. A little bitter sweet after they left because we miss them so much!
2. We grabbed Daddy from work on Tuesday and took him out of downtown and out for lunch with us. The kids loved seeing Daddy since he has been working some CRAZY long hours each day this past month or two.
3. Potty training success. My little Buddy filled his chart with more then 70 stickers and was one happy boy to head to the store to claim his reward on Wednesday! Way to go JA.
4. A last minute phone call from a friend on Wednesday to run over to the local park to play for the afternoon! It was a little bit chilly but it was so fun to burn off energy. The best part about spring break is being able to do things last minute!
5. Thursday was spent with a dear friend and her sister at the zoo with the kids. The weather was amazing, I could feel the sunshine just bringing new life back to my soul. The kids had a blast and have been asking to go back every day since. I think we may need to get an annual pass!
6. I was awoken at 1am Friday morning by T who told me he was sure his eye was swollen shut. It certainly was! After chatting about a past expereince he had with a similar situation (cyst gone bad) as a teenager that involved IV's every 4 hours for a week I strongly encouraged him to head to the ER and not let it get worse. Glad we live close to the hospital and traffic is pretty light in the middle of the night so T was able to get himself there (I did suggest a cab too ;). Long story short he came home after a few hours (slightly traumatized by the late night strung out ER visitors in the beds around him) with some antibiotics in hand. He lucked out with the day off and we made the most of it even though it looked like I had punched him in the eye! We dropped the kids off at Grandma's and escaped for a quick lunch date. So fun despite it all.
7. Friday night we were invited over to some friend's house for the most amazing meal and great company!
8. Saturday morning AL headed to a birthday party and JA had his little buddy over to play. AL was pretty excited about the chef's hat she made at the party and the beautiful cupcake she decorated.
9. Saturday afternoon spoiled us with the most beautiful weather! We headed to the park and walked the trails along the river. The kids loved every minute of the chipmunks, birds, bugs and melting river. I was blown away by how many people were having picnic and bonfires. JA even managed to invite himself to a BBQ and scored some of the best fire roasted chicken ever ;)
10. Sunday played a little April fool's joke on us when the snow started flying but I am happy to report it is basically gone now. We loved spending the day void of the usual rush and stress of Sunday. Relaxing and listening to conference was the perfect end to a great week!
How did you spend your spring break?

Loving a Long Weekend
We sure do love having a long weekend. An extra day with the Daddy home. An extra day of fun!!
A look at our weekend .....................
A backyard visit with old friends

Bike riding

A trip to the zoo

We spent time at the park, working in the yard, cuddled up and watched a movie, time at church, had dinner with great friends and made some more construction progress on the basement!
I sure do love me a long weekend!

Under Attack
We are under attack!! Do you see it????
*click on the pic to enlarge*

The sun is finally shining and the temperatures are in the glorious 20's but these little mosquitoes have come into town with a vengeance. I am starting to feel like we are being held prisoners in our home. AL is terrified of all bugs (I am hoping it is a phase that passes quickly). We did put on long clothes and tons of bug spray so we could get out and plant our veggie garden and mow the lawn yesterday.
I am hoping our little visitors leave quickly or at the very least thin out a bit so we aren't literally breathing them in. I seriously only have so much blood I am willing to donate there way!!!!

Sure Signs of Spring
We have FINALLY been feeling the warmth of the sunshine again these past few days (I think I had almost forgotten how glorious mid-teen temps feel).
This afternoon while the kids and I were playing in the backyard we took a look around to see what signs of spring we could find. We were pretty excited to find:
New shoots on our raspberry bushes

Our rhubarb growing strong

Buds on the trees

A tulip poking out of the soil

And children playing happily in the dirt

I just love this time of new life and rebirth; I can feel my soul being energized with each breath of springtime air I take in!
What signs of spring have you spotted?

There is hope
Despite the snow, harsh winds and cold we had over the weekend there is still hope that spring is just around the corner! I spotted these on the tree in the front yard a few days ago......

I love knowing that spring will always come again whether it is purely the weather or whether it is in our own personal lives winter will always come to an end and we will once again feel the warmth of spring!
