hi mama

we were just waiting outside to pick up ava from preschool. we were there a bit early so to help pass the time i whipped out my little point and shoot and started recording emaline. there waiting, with her sippy and a paper she found in the back seat of the car that she insisted on bringing with her to go get ava. i'm not sure why, but this video made me smile when i uploaded it. maybe it's the small peek at my protruding belly, her messy hair, or just the sound of emaline's "hi, mama's" or maybe it's all of the above.
either way, i loved it. all 18 seconds of it.

roughing it

mountain {dew voltage} man

i have a completely irrational fear of camping alone. and by alone, i mean just me and my husband. my fear is that the crazy woodsman living in the forest is going to come and mass murder the whole campground in the middle of the night. which is why i have never gone camping alone with bryce despite his many efforts to convince me.
it's quite silly, really. but still.

but camping with friends? strength in numbers... count me in. what's more silly is that it's probably more irrational for me to go camping 8 months pregnant, but that didn't stop me. it should've though... what was i thinking?

our weekend was spent in cooler weather, eating junk, letting our kids run wild, laughing and enjoying ourselves amongst dear friends. the best part is that our kids love their kids, too, which makes for a good time all around.
and a good time it was.

well, until i had to sleep on our air mattress without my beloved body pillow that i opted not to bring, to avoid looking so overpacked and laughed at by my husband. my 8 month pregnant self regretted that decision the moment i laid down.

we returned home filthy and completely exhausted and yet somehow, refreshed.
but more importantly, alive.
(and still pregnant.)
