Kisses from an Angel

Catherine says I don't post on here enough. I think she left this one topic just for me though. Last night, I received my first kiss on the cheek from Hannah! It was very adorable. You have to kiss her first. Then you have to turn your head and she opens her mouth big and wide and she does her best imitation of a kiss. It's very cute! Catherine showed me first that she's doing this now. Of course, she gets to see and hear all the good stuff first, but that's okay. As long as I get to experience it too.

Hannah has also started taking to conversation. Yes, she mostly makes intelligible sounds, but she gets pretty excited when you respond to her. Sometimes I repeat back to her the sounds she said to me. She gives me this surprised look and continues on with her portion of the conversation. I can tell she's going to be a talker. Just like her father.

Scenes From A Monday

Hannah likes to kick off her socks and shoes. The following shots of time lapse photography document the progression (I love baby feet!!!):

Lately we've been practicing sitting up. In the picture below, Hannah is sitting up in her crib, and appears to be thinking, "Isn't it HILARIOUS when I spit up all over my sweater?!?!?! I LOVE this!!!!"
After changing into a fresh set of clothes, we practiced sitting AND reading. Phonics lessons may be a bit beyond Hannah for the moment, just keeping herself upright and holding the book took a lot of concentration!

Favorite Things

Currently, Hannah's favorite things are:
~looking at herself in the mirror
~clasping her hands together and gumming them
~playing with rattling things
~sticking her tongue out
~taking baths
~babbling things such as "ah-glrrrr" "ah-goo" and other as-yet-unintelligible sounds

Personal Best

As you can tell from the photo above, Hannah the Poopcious Princess of Power is tickled pink with herself for beating her own personal best record for the most times she can wake herself up in one night. Last night she woke up SEVEN TIMES. Yes, you read that correctly, SEVEN TIMES. This from the baby who up to 7 weeks old was sleeping through the night. Then she started waking up once a night. Last night, SEVEN TIMES. If you're wondering, that means Mommy scored about three hours of sleep total, non-consecutively. Sigh.

Growth Update

Yesterday was Hannah's two month pediatrician visit. For those who are keeping stats, she now weighs 10.5 pounds (40th percentile), is 22 inches long (34th percentile), and her head circumference is 38.5 cm (40th percentile). The doctor thought everything looked great. Sadly, Hannah got FOUR shots and has been feverish ever since. The shots were supposed to cause fevers and pain in her legs, so no cause for concern. We're just giving her lots of cuddle time and hoping she feels better soon!

Word To Her Mother

This picture shows Hannah in her carseat shortly before Josh cruelly woke her up and she started to cry. Isn't the hat cute? My mom made it for her, and it is just starting to fit. I like it because it keeps her ears warm. Anyway, as I was saying, Hannah started crying and as I leaned over to pick her up, she said "Muh Muh!" Coincidence????? I THINK NOT. Clearly she recognized that I was going to pick her up, and was calling me by name. What a smart baby we have. ;)

Bathtime Blues

I think Hannah prefers daytime baths to bedtime baths. Or maybe she prefers being in her tub when her tub is in the real bathtub, versus when her tub is on the counter in the kitchen. At any rate, her last few baths have been lots of fun. She especially likes to join me in singing bathtime songs, of which there are three.

BATH SONG 1 (to a jazzed up version of the tune to "What a Friend We Have in Jesus")

Hannah-poops is having bath time
Hannah-poops is getting clean (yes she is, you betcha)
Hannah-poops is in the bubbles
She is our little bath time Queen

Mommy's giving her a bath now
Mommy's washing Hannah-bean (yes she is, you betcha)
We have lots of fun at bath time
We like this whole bath-taking thing

BATH SONG 2 (my parents may have made this one up when we were kids)

Oh I wish I were a little bar of soap (bar of soap)
Oh I wish I were a little bar of soap (bar of soap)
I'd go slippy and a-slidey
Over everybody's heinie
Oh I wish I were a little bar of soap

Oh I wish I were a fishy in the sea (in the sea)
Oh I wish I were a fishy in the sea (in the sea)
I'd go swimmin' in the nude-y
Without my bathing suit-y
Oh I wish I were a fishy in the sea
