Iframe Method for Facebook Like

So, I tested with the Iframe method too. It is actually the most easiest way to insert Facebook like to your blogger post. I am still using the FBML version though.
Here is how you do it.
For Blogger/Blogspot

  1. Go to Layout (Design) > Edit HTML and check “Expand Widget Templates”.
  2. Find <data:post.body/> and Below the line add the following codes.
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != &quot;static_page&quot;'> <iframe allowTransparency='true' expr:src='&quot;http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=&quot; + data:post.url + &quot;&amp;send=false&amp;layout=button_count&amp;show_faces=false&amp;width=90&amp;action=like&amp;font=arial&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;height=21&quot;' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' style='border:none; overflow:hidden; width:90px; height:21px;'/> </b:if>

The blue coloured ones can be changed according to the your needs. Or got to http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ and customize your Button.
See related post : http://likeweb.blogspot.com/2011/10/finally-i-got-facebook-like-button.html

Test the FBML and IFrame version, and share which one works best with you.

Finally, I got the Facebook Like Button. WoHoo!

After two days(now its way faster than that) of searching and testing I got it. Finally I got the facebook like button to work properly on my blog. Here's how I did it.

First Goto to http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ . Here you will get the required code to insert the like button.
Select the required options as you want, the most important is the URL to Like. It is where you set the post or website which you want to link like button.

For now just type anything there (need to be changed if for blog posts). In Layout Style if you just need a small like box then choose the "button_count".
In the width option, if you chose "button_count" then 150 will just be enough for you. Enter 450 if you want a bit detailed view.

Show Faces shows the Profile Picture of the one who liked the page.

After you click on Get Code a pop-up box will appear showing you the code.

Select XFBML for now and I guide you to rest.
I tried with the other methods HTML5 and IFRAME, the result was not like as I wanted so I chose XFBML.
Choose XFBML for now.
  1.  First you have to do is copy the code in second box. You don't need to copy all, just copy the xmlns:fb="http://ogp.me/ns/fb#"
  2. Now Go to  Blogger and Overview(Dashboard)> Template> Edit HTML. Tick the "Expand Widget Template". You can backup the Code in Notepad if any error occurs.
  3. Find your <HTML ...tag. copy the above code and paste before the ">" of the HTML tag.
  4. Now Find <data:post.body/>Then right below the line paste the code from the First Box(above image).
  5. Then paste another code from the third box(above image) , to the another line below.
    Important:
Now change the code of third box href='post.url' to expr:href='data:post.url'. This gives the link of the post you are currently viewing.

You like button must be up and running after this. Do ask if any questions.

Easy to use PhotoScape - Facebook photos here I come

http://www.photoscape.org
PhotoScape unlike Photoshop is a great easy to use photo editing software. You can edit your photos; resizing, brightness and color adjustment, white balance, backlight correction, frames, balloons, mosaic mode, adding text, drawing pictures, cropping, filters, red eye removal, blooming, clone stamp; on the fly. Great for facebook users who frequently need to have new photos for their profile picture.

You will be quite amazed( actually if you don't use much of photoshop) what you can do with your photo with photoscape.

Geolocation - the new on Facebook

The web nowadays is getting increasingly interesting. After “What are you doing?”, it’s now come to “What are you doing, and where are you doing it?”.
Moving to challenge Google and other emerging location-based services, Facebook on Wednesday introduced Facebook Places, a way for users to expose their location to other Facebook users and applications and to locate their friends.

Places allows users to share their location in real-time using an iPhone or a Web page accessed through a mobile browser (http://touch.facebook.com) that supports HTML 5, geolocation(GPS enabled handsets) and you need to be in USA which a little disappoints me. However it is going to be available for all places as http://blog.facebook.com suggests.

With Places, you are in control of what you share and the people you share with. You choose whether or not to share your location when you check in at a place. When you check in, you can tag friends who are with you but only if their settings allow it. When you are tagged, you are always notified.

Happy Tagging Guys.

In Facebook - Not Friends or Blocked? Not a big deal!

You have been having some creepy guys out there stalking at you. So you blocked them from your Facebook friends list; you get relaxed then. But by passing days you may find out that they are still watching you. Here's how people actually stalk on facebook.

Handling blocks(or not friends): Just search the name of the person you want to view and click on it. You will be taken to his profile and see his status updates, photos and other stuffs. BUT, If he has perked with the security settings and stoped unknown peoples from viewing his post then you won't be able to see his status updates.

Handling blocks(blocked from post): A friend has blocked you from their posts? No worries, you can still find out what they've been up to. Type their name in the search bar and click on See more Results for X. Check out the list of events and wall posts and photo comments under Posts by Friends. If you want more, go for View All Posts by Friends.

Photos: To view a photo album put up by somebody who is not on your friend list, find a friend of theirs who allows public viewing of their wall. Now, amongst all their news feeds, you'll see: X commented on Y's photo. Click on the photo, and just keep clicking next. *Wink Wink* you just saw their entire album without actually being friends.

The Last Resort: Make a new facebook account and fake him/her as friend, send friend request and wait till he accepts. Rest you know.

Dlvr.it - Distribute your blog to twitter, facebook and more.

http://dlvr.it
Whenever I post anything to my blog I always link it to my facebook and twitter account. It is little slow to log in to the accounts and publish it. So recently I have tried this application called dlvr.it. It is a free application that lets you publish your posts to your facebook, twitter and other accounts. I will let you know more after this.
Post Update: When I posted this post and checked on my twitter page there was no tweet about the post available on my blog. So I logged on to my dlvr.it account then checked my twitter page; it showed my post then. At last dlvr.it  works. Must had been an error or my misjudgement for it not showing my post at first. Anyway I will be using it for quite a while now.
Post Update:Now anyway dlvr.it works fine. Whenever I post new posts then it delivers it automatically which is what it is supposed to do. The previously informed problem would never have existed as dlvr.it might have taken some time to post on twitter and facebook.

TweetDeck - The ultimate Twitter and Facebook Application

http://www.tweetdeck.com
Guys I just love it! I really do. I even left Digsby(but still use for msn and yahoo) for it. The first wow factor is it's the interface. Its looks so beautiful and well managed. Making groups for seperate stuffs on facebook looks great and is easy to see whats happening.

It is a free application that lets you connect with your Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn Accounts. It is supported by Adobe Air(no wonder how the interface looks) so you will need to install Adobe Air first to your computer which is not a problem because it is automatically downloaded when installing the app.

You can update your status, comment on others, like other comments, upload picture, share links and do almost anything you do on your regular browser based facebook. Try it, you will love it.
Download it from http://www.tweetdeck.co.

Digsby - Everything you need on one place

http://www.digsby.com
AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber, and Facebook all in one place thats Digsby. Before using it i had been using the same old yahoo messenger and windows messenger to chat with my buddies. The separate applications not just take up more space and slow your computer but also slows your working speed. Now having all of them is really a relief. So here's what it does. Straight from its website.
Instant Messaging
  • One combined buddy list for all your AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber, and Facebook Chat Accounts.
  • Manage multiple conversations with tabbed conversation windows. You can drag tabs out into their own windows for important conversations.
  • Rename contacts with an alias so you don't have to remember buddy names like 'giantsfan123'.
  • If one of your friends has more than one IM account you can combine them into a single merged contact to eliminate duplicate buddies.
  • Send your friends SMS messages right from the IM window.
  • The InfoBox lets you check everyone's status message and profile just by moving your mouse down the list.
  • Changing your status has never been easier. just one click right on the buddy list!
  • Multitask while you chat. Minimize the IM window and you see popups of new IM's. Best of all, you can reply right from the popup and get back to what you were doing.
  • Log conversation history and find the information you need our search-enabled log viewer.
  • And so much more.
Email
  • Manage your Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL/AIM Mail, IMAP, and POP accounts right from digsby.
  • Get popup notifications when new email arrives. Clicking a popup takes you right to the message with auto-login into webmail accounts.
  • The email InfoBox gives you a snapshot of your unread messages with just one click
  • Perform actions such as "Mark as Read" or "Report Spam" right from the email InfoBox.
  • Send emails to your friends right from the IM window. The email is sent directly from any account digsby is tracking for you.
Social Networking
  • Stay up to date with everything happening on your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and LinkedIn accounts.
  • Receive alerts of events such as new friend requests, messages, group invites, etc.
  • The social network InfoBox gives you a real time NewsFeed of what your friends are up to. Everything from new photos, to status updates, to upcoming birthdays is just a click away.
  • Set your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn status right from Digsby.
Personalize
  • Customize digsby with application skins to give it a personal look and feel.
  • Change the way your conversations look with themes – everything from simple AIM-style windows to 3D conversation bubbles.
  • Complete control over the layout of buddies on the buddy list. Change everything from buddy icon size to whether or not to show a snippet of their away message.
  • Sort your buddy list how ever you want! You can organize buddies manually, by status, by service, by name or by log size to place those you communicate with most at the top. You can even choose a secondary sorting method.
  • Customizable notification system lets you choose what events you want to be alerted about and how.
Other
  • Digsby offers complete synchronization between computers and installations. Everything from the skin you chose to your pre-defined status messages follows you from place to place.
  • You can place a widget on your blog, website, or social network profile so you can chat with visitors right from digsby.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous file transfers from one simple transfer manager.

Facebook New Design Rolls Out

There had been plenty of groups and fan pages in facebook supporting one goal "changing the theme of facebook". Not quite as expected but still worthy facebook new design has rolled out for limited users as it will be later supplied to all.

Facebook has been testing out the new profile design for the past five months but for the first time ever, they have released the new full site design.

The first noticeable change is a complete removal of the left-hand sidebar. Instead all of the links have been moved to a wider sidebar on the right hand side which appears to be double the size of the original. The applications have been moved to two different locations in the header and to the right hand sidebar.

There is a new drop-down menu in which users can view all of their applications. It’s not that great though if you have hundreds of applications installed as it takes a fair amount of time to browse through the applications.

The top of the newsfeed now displays links to the publisher box on the new profile. This enables quick access for posting new notes, new photos, new videos and sharing links with your friends.

There is now a new friends page. While it is not substantially different the friend lists have been moved from the right hand side to the left hand side. The width has also been expanded to accommodate the new site design.
As for the limited users only, I have not got to use this new facebook in my username but in my friends id it works. And the simple and innovative design is cleaner and much simplified with added features. In coming days facebook will be providing this service to more users (probably all) hopefully please mine be faster.

The Add-ons Eco system on Firefox - Third

CoolPreviews
http://www.coolpreviews.com/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2207

This is my Personal Favorite. This 'Time Savior' Add-on lets you to preview your desired links without leaving the current page. Just put your mouse over any link then on the blue Magnification Glass icon then the preview of the link automatically shows up without you leaving the page.

Try it on facebook; I actually loved it on Facebook. Searching for friends is easy with this. Here are its features. It works with every website(google, facebook, forums, flicker,blogger,...). Do write if it doesn't.
That is the charm(ie,the product of the mouse over) with no hassel.

Live your life and let others live!(in harmony)

I hadn't had some good new for you guys lately so coudn't write for you. Must I was much busier with my real life. Ahh! here is a news from Miley Cyrus.

“I'm done tryin' to please, I ain't livin' for tabloids, I am living for me,” the 16-year-old singer and star of Disney's hit TV show Hannah Montana sang in a “Goodbye Twitter” rap posted on YouTube.

Cyrus, a busy Tweeter with a following of more than one million people, made headlines on last Thursday by suddenly quitting Twitter, a popular microblogging site which lets users from celebrities to businesses and politicians post messages .

“The rumors are true, I deleted my Twitter,” she sang, saying she had started “tweeting about pimples”, had stopped “living for moments” and instead had “started living for people.”

“Everything that I type, Everything that I do, some gossip site makes it news,” she added.

This mess in her life is unbearable for her and only found quitting twitter is the right way.

However not long after she quit the fans chanted to re-open her twitter account and you will see how much it will last.

Any way living a public life where others get to know what ever you do for entertainment must have been difficult.

At last let it give me some guts to remove my facebook account.

Facebook -- Simple Plan Best time pass

http://apps.facebook.com/mindjolt/games/crazy-taxi
ATTENTION: This game is highly addictive.
I really don't know how to give it a good phrase "Simple plan for Best time pass", not bad i guess. I would love to hear from you guys. Here's what is it for. The "Crazytaxi". By just viewing the starting part (main menu) of it you can't guess what it is made of. Although not made of steel, you will stick to it at least for 2 hours a day.

Even look at the pictures. They don't have the icandies; just a flat car..., only kids will play this game..., ain't that what you are thinking?? Even when you play the game it has only flat animations like the car flips left right so much like the old flash games.

The game control is simple. You can move left, right and jump. You accelerate with up arrow and reverse with down arrow.

On the first you start with WTF is this game. Then you make a score, you find out you are last ranked by the score. You will want to increase it to better. The new score is a little better, why not make it ever more better. Well the thrust of being better makes this game so special; and also this simple game is able to do it in the most effiecient way. Eventually you won't want to leave this game untill you finish on the top ranking or either you die playing the game.

The scores are updated frequently and shows the high scores on your friends list and also the world wide rankings. It will be quite a while when you make through the world wide rankings.

No more words. Great game, play to see.

No such things as 'deleted' on the internet: Research

Try this: Take a photo and upload it to Facebook, then after a day or so, note what the URL to the picture is (the actual photo, not the page on which the photo resides), and then delete it. Come back a month later and see if the link works. Chances are: It will.

The research done by the Cambridge University's guys have found that everything the user deletes is actually not deleted(however it stops showing on your gallery). Not only Facebook but nearly half the social networking websites don't immediately delete any files that are requested to be deleted by the user. Any way Flicker is said to do a better job on deleting the pictures faster.

So why is the deleted photos stick on so long? The problem is the way data is stored on large websites. ie, Our PC keeps only keeps one copy of a file, but the large scale services rely on what are called content delivery networks to manage data and distribution. In this system the content is copied to multiple intermediate devices, usually to speed up the access to files when millions of peoples are trying to access simultaneously. But because changes aren't reflected across the system immediately, ghost copies of files tend to linger for days or weeks.

In the case of Facebook, the company says data may hang around until the URL in question is reused, which is usually "after a short period of time." Though obviously that time can vary considerably.

Of course, once a photo escapes from the walled garden of a social network like Facebook, the chances of deleting it permanently fall even further. Google's caching system is remarkably efficient at archiving copies of web content, long after it's removed from the web. Anyone who's ever used Google Image Search can likely tell you a story about clicking on a thumbnail image, only to find that the image has been deleted from the website in question -- yet the thumbnail remains on Google for months. And then there are services like the Wayback Machine, which copy entire websites for posterity, archiving data and pictures forever.

How do you feel that?? Do think twice when uploading your wacky pictures(only if).

Guys, I told you that I will be off for some weeks but this facebook thing just didn't let me have it. I must say I am close to being addicted. The big part of this facebook addiction goes to the games from playfish. The little flash games from playfish that test your knowledge is what keeping me signing in the facebook.

The friends network has a little part to do. I still have only about 5 friends on my network.

Any way here are the games that kept me addicted. I think you guys know them becoz there are millions of peoples playing them..

It's just started, and I am feeling bored at Facebook

Well, on facebook I have made just 4 friends till now. So the things are usually boring at facebook for me . I hope it won't be boring when I make some more worthy friends.

It has just been some 2 and half weeks of me on facebook. I am doing my best getting used to facebook. Ha! not succesful at times.. I request for friends to about a dozen peoples and just 2 accepted.

More to say, the security check is really reallly really irritating.

Give me some tips on using facebook. How do peoples get so much hanged on it. I want to see it. That the question I ask to everyone on facebook.

However, one girl mere 2-3 years bigger than me make some busy, interesting times. She is of course good to talk. Why not? she used to live in Nepal.

Hey I haven't tried the Groups. I will join a group right now.

Join me if you want..

Ahh! on the final note: I have an annual exam coming so I will be off for about a month. So bye. C ya.

Yes I signed up in the facebook

After hearing so much(too much) of it, I am now compelled to try it out. I had been using Hi5 and had been tackling it hard due to its flashy design(the customized designs on profile). The flashy designs were so much irritating for my eyes and of course slowed the cybercafe's computers(na, mine's fast).

So 2 days ago I signed up in the facebook. The home page was cool(is really? I am confused); standard, no eye candies. The sign up is the fastest one I have had till now. But after the sign up they show me the 3 easy(first steps) steps to go through before you have facebook experience. It took me a lil time to fill them up, anyway they could be skippable. After it was finished the starting page was very confusing to me; Must be due to the hi5. Everything was so short.

One thing that caught my eyes was the "What's on your mind". It was simply like twitter; though you could write long paragraphs on it which is limited to about 150 in twitter. Though the twitter like posting felt good.

A thing about facebook is really irritating. The comfirmation box. You need to time to time confirm the thing you do with the image comfirmation which is for more anger, case sensitive.

Haven't seen much yet, bye for now. Just twitting...
