Apples

We gave rice cereal a couple of weeks and then moved and then moved on to apples.  He was definitely not a fan of it to begin with.  He would shudder and gag a little.  Then he figured out how to push it out with his tongue.  He tolerated it happily enough even if he didn't seem to particularly like it.

Random January Pictures

I had a lot of random pictures from January, most of them from my phone.  It seems like I am always snapping pictures to text to Alicia, my parents and/or Kris.

Harvey is getting better and better with his hands.  During the bath he would bring them together in front of him then slowly bring them to his mouth.
Liam is exerting his independence.  He likes to get his own breakfast and make his own lunch.  One day I let him make his own peanut butter and honey sandwich while I went to put Harvey down for a nap. When I came downstairs he showed me his pepperoni sandwich.  He was getting a pepperoni, putting peanut butter and honey on it, then putting another pepperoni on top.  He was quite proud of his concoction and had eaten a few of them already.  It makes me shudder to just think about it.
When we went to the dentist they gave Tad his own floss.  He carried it around all over calling it his babysitter.  So random!  Then one day he figured out that somebody had put floss in his babysitter and pulled it all out.
Grocery shopping seems like such an ordeal these days.  It seems like I am always interfering with Harvey's nap or cutting it too close to Tad's.  The one day I decided I had put it off long enough.  I strapped Harvey in the front pack and went for it.  We were just about done when Harvey slumped forward.  At least he was content through the whole trip.
Tad still loves to dress up.  He is either Hulk or Thor everyday.
My kids love Harvey! They are always asking to hold him, or picking him up if I leave him laying down while I am working close by.  Demzi was excited to be able to hold him the one day.  The second she got him though he started gnawing on her thumb.  I swear he should be teething for how chewy/drooly he is but nothing comes.
Addie decided to climb in the laundry basket but then she was stuck and couldn't get out.
Tad is OCD.  We went through a phase where he screamed everyday after I put his shoes on, "why are my shoes doing this?!"  I never could figure out what I finally did that fixed that, it was a rough week though.
I took Demzi to the eye doctor since she is the same age Addie was when she got glasses I wanted to make sure her vision was fine.  She tested fine, if anything she was slightly far-sighted which they said she should outgrow.  Since she had her eyes dilated she got to wear these cool glasses.  They were nice enough to give some to the boys as well.  Demzi refused to wear hers but the boys thought they were the coolest.
Hulk is ready for school! Sometimes I bribe Tad into doing what I want (usually I'm bribing him to go to the bathroom) by letting him send a picture or video to someone.

Sick Tad

Tad got a horrific stomach bug over Christmas.  This is the first time ever that he has gotten the stomach flu and the poor kid didn't know what hit him.  He started it all the day before Christmas Eve and it seemed like a typical 24 hour bug until the day after Christmas when he was acting sick again.  He continued to have random sick days for the next week and a half which meant he spent a lot of time in the bath.  At least he was somewhat happy about it.  He gets really needy when he's sick, insisting on being held or curling up in my lap.

New Year's Eve

The afternoon of New Year's Eve we went sledding with Kris's family.  The kids were super excited. Somebody in Kris's parents' ward let us come use their hill which meant there were no crowds. The kids lasted a surprisingly long time given that temperatures were still just in the teens.

When we first told Tad that we were going sledding he said, "No we not, that would be so scary!" It didn't take him long to warm up to the idea.  He even kept going down the hill by himself.

I had Harvey all bundled up and wrapped in a big quilt but he still didn't love being outside Kris's mom took him back to the truck to watch.  I ended up sitting in there with him after I had taken a few pictures.

The guys whose property this is was pulling his grandkids around behind his fourwheeler and was nice enough to give our kids a turn.

The kids had so much fun.  I'm glad we took advantage of the snow while it lasted since it was so short lived.  After sledding we went back to Kris's parents' and ate dinner and let the kids watch a movie so the adults could play a game. Then we headed home (before midnight).  Addie was onto us this year and asked if we could stay up and play games once we got home since it wasn't midnight yet. Everyone fell asleep on the way home but Addie and Demzi woke themselves up enough to play a round of Case of the Missing Mummy, and then have a little treat and pop some poppers.
We called it a night right around 10:30, we convinced them it was okay to go to bed a little before midnight since it was already midnight in Pennsylvania where grandma and papa were at.  I'm so not a night owl but it is fun that they actually know what New Year's Eve is for and want to stay up late.

Cabin Fever

We had a fun, relaxed, Christmas break.  We went into it without really any solid plans.  One day we went up to Salt Lake to see the candy windows but the rest of the time we stayed home and played together.  The kids had tons of fun playing with their new toys and board games they had gotten.  It was really cold that week so we didn't really go outside at all but one day Addie begged me.  I told her, "I don't think you understand how cold it is out there, it's only 7 degrees!"  She insured me that she had just walked outside, without a coat even, and it didn't feel that bad.  If you are saying seven degrees doesn't feel that bad you must have some serious cabin fever.  So, I gave in.  They got all bundled up (Tad initially refusing snow pants) and went outside.  They had a snow ball fight, played tag, and painted the snow.  It was a nice little escape from the norm, and Harvey and I got to watch safely from inside where we were nice and warm.
