Christmas!

So once again I was as excited for Christmas morning as our kids, although I didn't make the mistake of waking Addie up early like I did last year. I did however have to wake Demzi up, it just didn't seem fair that once Addie realized that Santa came that I would make her wait until Demzi woke up. Once Demzi realized that there was paper to eat she was totally fine with the situation. Here's Addie with her presents, Elmo was her main gift.
Demzi was into pulling all the stuff out in her stocking to try and eat it.
Addie just sat next to her stocking for a while. She'd pull something out and then put it back and sit there some more. It took her a minute to realize that she could have ALL of that stuff.

Santa Pics

So we got to see Santa twice this year, once at Kris's family party, and the other time we went to the mall. Addie still isn't sure what she thinks about Santa, she will sit on his lap but don't expect her to say anything. Demzi was just fascinated with his beard, we were a little afraid she might give it a good pull there.

Here are Addie and Demzi sitting on Santa's at the mall lap, don't they both look so happy to be there. They wouldn't smile at me but they weren't crying either so I guess I should be grateful. Demzi went from this to crying pretty quick so it's a good thing they snapped the picture when they did.

Merry Christmas from Demzi

So I took this picture while Demzi was laying on our bed, she was spitting at me. She is making such a funny face it makes me laugh, and then the way she is holding her hands. Kris decided to edit it so there was a hat on her head.

Addie's First Haircut

I decided it was finally time to get Addie's hair trimmed, I was a basketcase though. I was sure she was going to be all over the place or that in order to even it up we were going to have to take off a lot. She did really well though, she didn't move at all but she did look a little scared.

David Archuleta

So we have hit the terrible 2's in full force. If ever I thought that Addie could tantrum before I was wrong. She has now started to throw things when she is mad and then she'll stomp on them. This weekend though she bit me! That's the first time that she has ever done that before. I always knew she was opinionated but we she decides something there is no swaying her.

My favorite was on Thanksgiving though. We were driving down to Payson to have Thanksgiving with Kris's family when we got to the end of the cd I took it out and put in a new one, the whole time Addie is crying, "I need a new one." Even with the new cd she cried, until she fell asleep, and then she woke up stil crying and saying, "I need a new one."

The next day, Friday, she came up to the computer and asked me to put on her "shake it" (I don't know where she got that but it is what she says for music). I turned one on and she started crying and pointing and saying "this one" all the while she is screaming and throwing herself on the ground, I changed it to the one that she wanted, it was David Archuleta. As soon as she heard the first song come on she crawled in my lap and just sat there. She listened to the whole cd without complaint and then insisted that we listen to it again. So with the exception of jingle bells, David Archuleta is the only thing that Addie will let us listen to without screaming. (Jingle Bells is the one done by Barenaked Ladies it's her Christmas shake it and she jumps around the whole time it is playing.)

Christmas Tree Hunt

Every year my family goes on the day after Thanksgiving (or in this case the Saturday after) to cut down our Christmas tree. We haven't ever gotten one ourselves (we would never have enough room for one) but we usually go with them to help pick their's out. Here are some pictures from when we went this year, Demzi isn't in any of them because it was freezing and so she got to stay in the truck with my mom where it was warm.

Addie and Demzi

These are just random pictures. Addie has been coming up to me and saying, "look mom I'm cute, take a picture." It makes me laugh so I usually take a picture.

This one Addie decided to just sit next to Demzi, she'd already tried holding her and decided that she was too heavy.
Addie was insistent that she could hold Demzi, even though she looks almost as big as Addie.
Addie just went and stood in front of the tv and told me to take a picture of her, I don't know what's with the funny look.
Demzi just sat like this on the couch for like twenty minutes while we had family night, she was just playing with the tag on the Elmo.
We tried to put Demzi in the walker at Kris's parents'. Like every other kid she has decided the best way to push the buttons is with her mouth.

Halloween

Here are some of our pictures from Halloween. Kris and I even dressed up this year for our family parties. Addie picked out her own costume and she decided to be batgirl. Demzi got to be a duck just like Addie was for her first Halloween.

We had a hard time getting both of them looking, Addie was took distracted trying to get Demzi to laugh.
Addie was spinning in circles right before this saying cheese, take a picture. Since none of those turned out I finally got one when she sat to fix her mask.

I actually had a Halloween onsie from Addie's first Halloween so Demzi looked festive all day long.

At the Benson Halloween party the kids got to paint somebody else's face. Kris was one of the volunteers so Aydin did his makeup for him and here is the finished product.

Demzi actually was pretty good about having to wear this costume, she didn't seem to mind at all.

Everytime I tried to get a picture of Demzi when I first put the costume on her she was pulling this weird face, I just thought it was so cute.
Here is the group picture from the Thompson Halloween party, everyone dressed up this year. I guess it's usually Kris and I who don't dress up.

Fall Pics

On Saturday we decided to go for a drive up the canyon and maybe go for a little hike with the girls.

Kris was trying to get a cat tail for Addie.
Addie, knowing she is every bit as big as dad, has her own stick and is prepared to follow, even if she has no idea what he's doing with it.
More copying, Kris was finding skipping rocks so she had to have her own collection of rocks to carry with her.
Watching all the ripples it made when she finally threw all of her rocks in the water.
It was Demzi's turn to be in a picture, doesn't she look like she's enjoying herself?
Kris was trying to get some shells out of the water for Addie to play with. Everytime he'd hand one to her she'd throw it right back in the water and say, "splash." So much for all that hard work.
This is when we first got out of the car, Addie was trying to be so happy even though she'd just woken up.

Cake Time!

The other day as we were trying to get Addie to sit still for FHE we told her that after we were done we were going to have cake. After we finished the first thing Addie said was, "cake time!" and she sat in her chair at the table. After leaving the room for a few minutes this is what I came back to.

This is the most I've ever blogged in my entire life however, I see Addie doing stuff during the day that I think is so funny and that I should remember to write it down so that I remember it. This is where a journal would come in. However, I was typing my journal and since my computer has crashed three times in the last month, taking my journal with it, I am typing it here so that when I get a notebook to write my journal in (or my computer working again) I will remember to write it down.

Addie has recently started talking in full sentences. She has always jabbered and every so often you would catch a word that you recognize but now you can actually understand most of what she is saying. There are very few times when she just goes off jabbering nonsensically.

The other night she found Kris's scriptures out on the couch. She grabbed them and hurried and ran to her room. When I opened her door and asked her for them, telling her those were daddy's scriptures and we didn't want to lose his place, she shut the door and said, "No, I read this book. Okay, okay, thank you, bye bye." I have no idea where she comes up with this stuff and maybe she should have gotten in trouble for shutting the door on me if she hadn't been so funny about it.

The Blanket

So I usually just post if I have pictures but this picture has a funny story to go with it. This is a picture of Addie with her blanket. Addie is beyond just a little bit attached to this blanket but lately she has been really funny about it. She treats her blanket like it's a living thing. When we went to go to the store and walked outside she said to me, "Uh oh mom, blanket's cold, it needs a jacket." I went inside and got Addie's jacket and tried to put it on her, assuming that she'd said that because she was the one that was cold and she took it from me and wrapped her blanket in it.

She also tries to feed her blanket. This morning blanket was hungry and wanted chocolate milk, pancakes and pizza. It makes me laugh because she talks about getting her blanket dressed or needing a new diaper she's just funny. I think she has a panic attack every time she hears me shut the washer because she's sure that I've snuck her blanket from her again.

It's been a while

So I haven't posted in forever, not because nothing has happened but because our computer broke and we sent it to service and so I didn't want to load pictures on the laptop. Funny thing is, now that I have my computer back, I'm completely unmotivated to set it back up. Anyway, here are some updated pics.

This one is out of order but we did recently start Demzi on baby food, it's a lot earlier than I did with Addie but Demzi seemed ready. Boy is she ready, she loves her food. She hasn't complained about anything yet.
So here is Demzi in her highchair, up until recently she just sat here watching us eat hence this weird look on her face, she is watching us chew.
Addie is totally in a copying phase so the weird faces Demzi makes at the table Addie likes to try also.

This is Addie in her helmet, she gets so excited to wear and would probably wear it around the house if I let her.

So Demzi has recently started sucking her thumb recently. She only does it if she is holding on to something, usually a burp rag or something. This time she has her bib wrapped around her thumb and is slurping on that.
So Addie will finally look at the camara, at least sometimes. But if you tell her to show you her pretty smile this is what you get. I don't know if she is just anticipating the flash or what but she is always squintting and not all the way smiling.

The Benson Family Vacation

So this last labor day weekend we were able to go on vacation with Kris's family. It was a lot of fun to be able to play around in Salt Lake and spend time with family. We spent time at Pioneer Heritage Park (This is the Place) for some of their harvest festival days. Addie was able to do the activities, play with the animals, she even rode the horse (even though it seemed too scary at first she was really proud of herself after she did it and we all cheered for her).

Addie learning to clean rugs, pioneer style.
One of the girls in the stroller, we had to prove that Demzi was there too.

Panning for gold, now that we're pros we're going to be rich.

Random August Pictures

So here are some random pictures just to keep everyone updated on how much our kids are growing. I just forget how much babies grow in such a short time, Demzi is changing tons and Addie is learning more everyday. Her most recent discovery, opening doors. There goes my defense for everything. If I don't want her to do something I take her out and close the door, that might just be the end of napping too but I really hope not.

This picture is Demzi's ultraconcentrated face, she usually does this when she is watching us eat, it is also her being really excited and she is usually kicking her legs like crazy. Look at those little chubby cheeks!
I had Addie hold Demzi on Sunday so I could get more pictures of them together, neither of them are smiling because I figured I was just lucky to have both of them looking and not crying.

More pictures from Sunday.
This one was taken today, Demzi is so happy just laying on her changing table. She is such a happy baby it amazes me. I took her to the doctor on yesterday because she has an ear infection and except at rare times, usually when she is eating, you would never notice a difference in her personality. This was one of Addie's birthday presents, it has been a great help because now she will just follow me while I vacuum instead of me holding her so that she can vacuum with me.

Demzi's long tongue, I think she was sticking it out so much because she was trying to figure out how to grab something but then again it just might be too long to fit in her mouth.
