Little Wildhorse Canyon

This weekend Stucki, Josh, Derek, and I headed south to Little Wildhorse Canyon.  And wow, it was AMAZING.  I am just going to let the pictures do the talking.

It's a SKULL!!!  (Jokes, it's rock)

An Arch.  Actually more like a tube through part of the mnt.

Little Wildhorse Canyon is right next to Goblin Valley.  Derek and I had both never been there.  So we stopped and holy, it was hot.

Ancient, petrified goldfish

We accomplished everything we wanted to in one day.  So now what?  The sun won't go down for 5 more hours....and it's hot.   So, we went to a demolition derby in Price.  My first demo derby ever and it was AWESOME.
Trucks
Cars.

We actually drove home Sat night.  All we were going to do was camp.  So we just got home at like 11:15.  Plus Stucki was feeling a bit under the weather...

New Job and Ragnar

Yes, it is true.  I GOT A NEW JOB!!!  And I start on Monday, which is tomorrow.  So farewell crazy old people, and hello to a different set of crazy old people.  I just can't seem to stay away from them.

But the really exciting part is that Derek and I just finished running the Ragnar (Wasatch Back) for the first time.  It was awesome!

With a team of 12 people, we relay ran 192 miles in 28 hours and 36 minutes.  We started running at 8 am Friday morning and we finished around 12:45ish Saturday afternoon.  It was AWESOME!  Sure we slept for an hour and a half and ran all through the night.  But it was fun.

(How it works is that Everyone in Van 1 runs.  And after their 6th runner, Van 2 starts and all 6 of them run and it switches back and forth.  Each team runs 3 times)

I ran about 14 miles (bless Jeff, our team captain, for giving me easy legs so my injured knees could handle it.  And they did!)  Derek ran 15.5 miles and they were HARD miles.  He had the hardest leg in the whole race.  The Ragnar Hill (The Ragnar Relay is named after this hill.  Because the original one was the Wasatch Back and when they expanded to other cities, they named the race after this hill)  4.3 miles of straight up.  Sometimes at a 10-12% grade and I am not joking.  It was intense (like camping) and he rocked it.  And my dad ran 20 miles.  And some were pretty difficult runs.  Yup, he's almost 60 and he's still outdoing me every time.  He is The Man.  And he drove almost the entire time.

Here are some awesome pictures
This was our team name, Team Ford Running Against Cancer.  We do this race with some family friends and their dad battled cancer for 11 years and passed last fall.  So now instead of running for him like we used to, we run in memory of him.
My fist leg.  Since I've been injured, Jeff gave me the easiest runs in my van.  Therefore, I was up against every teams weakest runners and therefore passed (killed) 30 people this run (4 miles)
Dave Knighton
Steve Boyer
Derek.  It was really hot and he got sprayed by little kids with water guns and by big kids (aka adults) with a fire hose.
Mike Hurst
The Man.  Aka, my dad

And thus ends Van 2's First Leg.

Our first leg ended at Snowbasin.  Yes, my dad and Mike Hurst ran up that hill.  It was brutal.

We had some time to kill while Van 1 was running.
My 2nd leg started our team out at around 10 pm.  Hence the safety gear.  Here is dad and I.
Derek and I.   PS: It was SO COLD.  Right now it was probably in the high 30's by by the time we were done at 330 in the morning it was about 30 degrees.  Brrrrrr.
This is just how good I am at running.  I'm a blur.
We got sleep here and there in the car.  Then 1.5 hrs of good sleep.  This is how Dave felt in the morning.  (About 6:30)
And this is Derek.  (Their pics were the best ones)
Here is my final leg.  YAY for almost being done!
Derek's final leg.  Ragnar Hill.  He jumped in the snow at the top.
Almost at the top of the hill
Jeff, our team captain, and his sisters.  We were running for their dad.
Van 2 after all is said and done.
Dave, Mike, Derek, Me, Dad, and Steve
Team Ford.
Dad, Tina, Tami, Derek, Natale, Steve, Me, Jaron, Jeff, Dave, and Mike (Deanna had to leave)
Van 2's stats.  307 Road Kills (people we passed) and 23 Potty Breaks.

Fun in So Jo

I knew how to have fun here when I was in high school; however, since moving back I have always wondered, "What did I used to do for fun here?"  Well, we have found at least one fun place in So Jo.  Daybreak.  The only downfall is you have to live there to truly enjoy it.  Luckily for us, Stucki and Josh now live in Daybreak.

Last week we went to a free concert and walked around.

Today, we went kayaking in and around the lake at Daybreak, then played frisbee, and on some jungle gym climbing stuff (which I am convinced whoever made knew nothing about climbing).

Good times.
Me.  The sun was in my face.
Stucki and Josh.  I like Stucki's face in this one.
I just wish I had another pair of arms so I could fan him and feed him grapes while I rowed...

Playing Catch Up

I knew it'd be only a matter of time before I stopped keeping up with this.  So...catch up time.

Day 12 - A photograph of the town you live in
Imagine Utah suburbia at its finest and that is So Jo.  My family has lived here for nearly 22 years.  Derek and I have been here just over 1 year.

Day 13 - Your favorite musician and why
Martin Sexton.  Hands down.  Because he is amazing in every way.  He may be a dirty, hairy man, but when he picks up a guitar and starts singing.....oh man he lives up to his last name.  Seriously, check him out on itunes.  His best song (in my opinion) is Glory Bound on the album Black Sheep.

Day 14 - A TV show you're currently addicted to
I don't watch much tv.  But i LOVED glee.  However, it's over now...

Day 15 - Something you don't leave the house without
I NEVER leave the house without my water bottle.  I will die of thirst in 30 minutes.  I am more likely to leave my phone at home than my water bottle.

Turning the Page on Love

We had a tragedy.  Love, my hot rice pack Megan gave me 4 years ago for Christmas died.  Holes.  Derek didn't want rice in our bed.  So, Love is gone.  I slept with love every night (unless no microwave was available).  He will be forever missed.

However, I tried my hand out at being domestic and made Love Jr. last night.
And he even matches our bed (not planned) so it doesn't look bad when I leave him there.  This is the first time I've used a sewing machine since high school.  I always mean to be more into stuff like that, perhaps this is a good start.

But this also goes with Day 9: A picture of the last thine I purchased.  That would be the material for Love Jr.

Day 8 – A song to match your mood.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing by Jack Johnson.

I am waiting for Derek to finish his homework.

It's Coming

So it is June.  And it is FINALLY starting (emphasize STARTING) to warm up and we took full advantage of that fact.

This weekend Stucki and Josh and Derek and I joined my friend Jamie for Herriman City's Rodeo.  And it was AWESOME.  All the usual events: Bucking Broncos, (bareback and saddle), steer roping, steer wrestling, something else with a steer, barrel racing, getting pulled around behind a horse on a piece of hide (the Mayor of Herriman won and it was HILARIOUS), a dance off by little kids and they were the best part of the show.  That is, until the monkeys in silve sequened outfits came out riding sheep dogs herding goats.  That was hilarious.  And awesome.  And we can't forget the bull riders.  I swear it had to be some dang drunk and bored cowboys to say jump on that pissed of bull and see how long you can hold on.  But it was entertaining.  But pretty chilly.

Saturday was much nicer.  Derek went boating with Dad and Scott while I went to Megan's baby shower.  It was really fun to catch up with friends and meet new people.
Next, I met up with Dad, Derek, and Scott down at Scott's place and we went horseback riding.  But Scott didn't just throw us on his horses and let us go.  His horses are rodeo horses and used to running etc.  So he really taught us to control the horses etc.  Our own personal horse lesson.  It was fun.  I am slowly becoming more confident on a horse.  But we did gallop them, in a circle.  I felt like I was going to fall right off the side because of the leaning.

Next, Derek and I hiked up to our favorite waterfall.  It is our favorite because it is really pretty and really close and a short hike to the fall.  Then you can explore and climb up above or on top or anywhere you want.  Which is exactly what we did and the views are awesome.  Especially with how green the valley is.

And to top off the night, for some weird reason beyond my knowledge I felt like playing Monopoly.  I hate that game.  But we played and I whooped Derek's butt up one side and down the other and we only played for maybe an hour.  Probably less.

Day 7

Day 7: Your Dream Wedding
Done.
As long as it was with that man and in that building (which both came true), nothing else mattered.  Not that is was snowing and cold and later a blizzard.  Not that my mother and I argued relentlessly about bridesmaid dresses for my sisters until I let her choose and they were hideous (sorry gals).  Not that it wasn't summer.  None of that mattered because honestly, the day is so rapid and we were so swept up in the moment and love that we don't really remember much at all except what happened in that temple.  And that is all that matters.  So yes, December 29, 2009 was my dream wedding.
