Jai Bholenath!

This quick abstract art is done in Wax Pastels. I got this thought today morning while waking up. Here I have tried to state that Lord Shiva rules the whole cosmos and five elements that make up life namely Sky, Earth, Fire, Air and Water (respectively) are within Shiva. That is, Lord Shiva is time itself, the embodiment of all seen and unseen, concrete and abstract, light and dark, entire universe and all life. He is everywhere, in everything and in all elements. 

He is a symbol of peace and selflessness, a hermit who lives a Spartan existence, far away from all desires but gives everything to those who revere Him and stay on the morally right path.

My Pious Lord

Annihilating sins with holy fires

Muses he amidst burning pyres

He can be quite a formidable foe

And the most gentle one can know

Has three eyes and two aspects

And commands the ultimate respect

Only into him, this universe dissolves

Divine celestial energy, he’s made of

I kneel down to Shiva, my pious lord

To plead for ‘moksha’, the final accord.

It is not possible to fathom Lord Shiva; He is far beyond anyone’s comprehension. He has two aspects- Shiva and Shakti. I am His ardent devotee and consider Him to be the ultimate, above everything else in the world. Another interesting thing is that only his pet bull ‘Nandi’ is said to have asked for the Lord himself as a boon, unlike others who wished only for worldly pleasures.

If we focus on God with an intention of merging into his energy, of achieving Him and not other riches, we can take a significant leap towards the attainment of Moksha, a stage where a soul becomes free of the eternal cycle of birth, death and rebirth.

Shiva & Shakti (Art)

The above work is done in crayons and depicts the two energies that create, bind, rule and propagate the cosmos. These two energies are depicted as Shiva and his consort Shakti. 

While Shakti, the destroyer is the furious form of energy depicted by fire, Shiva, the calmer form, is depicted by water. The yellow whirl below indicates the cosmos that starts with their energy and culminates in form of the universe. 

Modern scientific research* also proves that matter is a highly condensed form of energy. The green part indicates potency and fecundity and along with the yellow whirl, the lower part of this work also reflects the third eye of Lord Shiva.

Shiva

With an eerie smile he gazes at his make
Bathed in diabolic dust, marks the second gate
Slowly silently time follows his pace
This hermit rules all stars, worlds and space

Staying fixed in his own mean
He embodies all seen and unseen
Crowned with luna, his light disperses
And blue aura shines across galaxies

Hold him in respect, love or reverence
He is the truth, the only reality of all existence
The Universe spins around him forever
Echoing the formidable hermit’s power
