My First 5K and Family Party on 6th of July

As a family, we signed up to do a 5K.  The Walk for Hope for Huntsman Cancer Institute.  It was put on my Mercury One charity and it was fun.  It took place on July 6, 2013.  Emily and Parker decided to participate as well.  Both John and I took pictures.  Throughout the walk, they had famous leaders of the Conservative movement handing out water to those who were doing the walk.  I know a 5K isn't much of a distance to those who run on a regular basis, but it was perfect distance for the kids.  It was a lot of fun too.  I didn't get photos of every water bearer, but you can read more about the walk here: http://www.imathlete.com/events/EventOverview.aspx?fEID=16518&z=1369276266379

It was a fun time.  Enjoy the photos, with some commentary.
Afterwards, we relaxed, recovered and then headed to Mom's and Dad's for the family BBQ, party and fireworks in the evening.  THANK YOU TO MIKE for the fireworks show!!

This is us in line waiting for the race to start.  We were the Freedom Wizards team.  Parker came up with the name.  It was an inspiration for John to design our team logo.  My company, the Competitive Edge sponsored our team by providing the printing of the shirts.  I think they came out awesome!
Emily and John stayed together.  Parker walked with me.  Linkin hung out with Grandma and Grandpa.

Kristie beat us all to the finish line.

Emily struggled to keep up with John at times, but she was a real trooper!  She kept up and finished the race!
Allison and Marianne finished the race strong as well.

We all got creamies after the race ended.  Courtesy of KNRS Talk Radio.  We got to meet Rod Arquette, who participated in the race as well.  He is the local talk show host on KNRS.

Linkin ran the very last part of the race with me.  He pushed through the gate to grab my hand and run with me across the finish line.
During the race, Senator Mike Lee handed out water to the runners/walkers.  Parker got to meet him and was excited that we took his picture with him.
Parker kept a good pace as well.  Despite his side-aches, he pushed through and would run/jog with me for some of the race.

Michelle Malkin was there with Richard Paul Evans, handing out water to the participants.
At the end, Stu and Pat from the Glenn Beck Program were there to meet and greet participants.  We didn't get to meet them, they had to leave for rehearsal of Man in the Moon for that evening.  It was fun to see they are real people though, haha.
The rides were free for the family so we let Linkin fly the Bat-Man plane...
and ride the carousel while we waiting for Emily to go on the ride she wanted to go on.
John said I needed to take pictures with my phone on the Carousel, so I did.
I reminded Parker and Linkin to look excited... this is what I got:

Then, we headed to Mom's and Dad's.  John got to take some photos in the rain that came down in sheets!
Andy and Mike manned the BBQ in the pouring rain.  They were good sports to brave the weather for us hungry folks.
Brent came out to give some support.
Kierra discovered a spoon that said, "No."  It was hiding in the couch, no doubt put there by a small child.  Haha.
Thanks for a fun evening and good food, Mom and Dad and everyone who brought yummy food!  Emily made a cake for the event as well.
Kristie made a yummy eclaire cake that was gluten free.  SO FREAKING YUMMY!  She let us take it home and Parker discovered he loves it too!  THANK YOU!
