Choo Choo!

Since Field is interested in all things train these days, we decided to throw him a {Choo Choo, Field is TWO!} Birthday party.  This party was much bigger than his first birthday.  We had 35 kids, lots of parents, and all of our families here.  The party was SO MUCH FUN!  We were worried about the heat, but a few fans on the back patio solved that dilemma.  The original train I ordered for the party broke down the day before (so typical) but thankfully, they had a back up train that worked just fine!

We served dinner, gave kiddos trackless train rides around the neighborhood, played all kinds of activities in the backyard, and the adults even enjoyed a few adult beverages, which always makes birthday parties a little more exciting.  ;)

A huge thank you to all that came to help us celebrate another year of sweet Field's life.  To say we are blessed with the very best friends a family could ask for is a complete understatement.  Everyone joked with us about inviting Field's 35 "best friends" to the party.  Every single child and family at the party is so special to us and yes, Field does have 35 friends.  And that's not including our sweet out of town friends.  Ha!

Happy 2nd Birthday, little man.

Beach Vacay - Part 2

Nothing beats 4th of July in a small Texas coast town.  We had a shrimp boil and then headed out for the local fireworks show.  Port Aransas does not skim on fireworks.  They put on a fantastic show!  Unfortunately, Field and Brad missed the show as we felt it was a bit too late for Field and way past his bedtime.  But momma got to go and enjoy time with friends.  Loved it!

Happy Belated 4th!

Tubes update

Yesterday, Field had tubes put into his ears. Everything went great!

Here are some pics from the day...

Before surgery - bouncing on the hospital bed and calling out to the doctors and nurses. "Doctor! Nurse!" {In a demanding tone.} This child is not shy!

After the versed, which they gave to help relax him before the procedure (super chill in daddy's arms):

After the surgery and after the monster meltdown upon waking up from anesthesia (not a happy camper and very loopy):

As usual, he woke up from the anesthesia VERY feisty and it took about 30 minutes to calm him down. That was not fun. Otherwise he did super! On the way home he was so groggy. He tried to eat a French fry and kept falling asleep while eating. It was hilarious. After a very long day with little sleep, we immediately tried to put him down for a nap when we got home. We have really struggled in the sleep department the last few days, so he was not having it. By 4:00pm we were losing our minds trying to keep him entertained. He still couldn't walk because his legs were so wobbly, but he wanted to, so it was tough. Brad took him out for a drive around 4:30, with the plan that when they arrived back home around 5, we would feed him dinner and put him to bed super early. Well, Brad arrived home at 5 and Field was sound asleep. He had fallen asleep in the car (which he never does) and was OUT! We debated on what we should do and ended up putting him to bed at 5pm! He sleep until midnight and woke up crying. I gave him a small snack because he barely ate a thing all day and then tried to put him to bed. He was not having it. So what's a mom to do?! I got into the crib and slept with him until he fell sound asleep again. He made sure to have a hand on me at all times as to be sure I didn't leave him.

Thankfully he slept the rest of the night. What a day! Glad that's over. Thanks to all of our faithful prayer warriors for the prayers! As always, we are so grateful!

Beach Vacay - Part 1

Every summer, we take an annual beach trip with 9 families that we have grown up with since birth.  The parents have all been friends forever and now they have children (us!) and grandchildren who are all friends as well.  It is so much fun and very chaotic.  ;-)  My mom, sister, and our kiddos all decided to head down to Port A. a few days before the group arrived to get in some beach and play time.

Giggling at breakfast with BB
We went to the Texas State Aquarium one day and LOVED it.  What a fun place for kids!

The sea animals were so fun to watch and the splash pad was perfect.
What's in that water?
Checking out the sea otters.
Hello there, sea turtle!
Caroline at the splash pad!
Dinner out in Port A
Cousins in the shark's mouth
LOVE!
Our new favorite place in town...the candy store!  Look at this face on Field.  Literally a kid in a candy store.

It was the perfect start to a fun vacation.

Prayers, please :)

Things have been crazy busy in the Johnson household and I am sad I haven't updated the blog.  I still need to post pics from Field's 2nd birthday party and our week long beach vacay!

But I wanted to ask for prayers for our little man.  After 7 ear infections (Yes, I said 7!!) in the last 6 months, we have decided to move forward with ear tubes.  Field will have this minor surgery this coming Friday afternoon.  Most patients have this surgery at an outpatient facility, but we will be at Methodist Children's because Field will need a specialized cardiac anesthesiologist to monitor his vitals.  Many many many heart babies have ear tubes and as our cardiologist said, "This is NOTHIN' compared to what y'all have already been through."  But momma bear over here is still a bit anxious.

One of the worst things about the whole situation is that the surgery isn't until Friday afternoon, so the Fieldster has to go ALL day without eating.  Yikes!
Riding a tricycle.  Such a BIG boy!
Please pray for a smooth and successful procedure.
Please pray for Dr. Moe (the ENT) and our cardiac anesthesiologist.
Please pray that Field will tolerate his empty tummy all day and that his feistiness won't be too unbearable.
Please pray for patience and peace for Brad and me.
Lastly and MOST importantly, please pray for Field to have MUCH relief with his ear infections after all of this.

Thank you all!

We just returned home from a week long trip to the beach. Late nights and early mornings, beach time, pool time, multiple trips to the local candy store, and lots of fun and smiles. More to come later.
