18 MONTHS!!

Field is 18 months!  Honestly, the first year of Field's life didn't go all that fast for me...since we went through some very difficult times, but since turning one year old, time is FLYING by and we are truly loving being Field's parents.

A few things about Field at 18 months (I'll spare you the 18 things at 18 months. Ha!):

VERY into golf and football.  Loves to hit any kind of ball around the house with his clubs.  It looks more like hockey, but he'll catch on to the game of golf one day.  Loves to hold a football and throw it behind him.  Yes, I said behind him.  Where do these kids learn to do such things?

We started back up at Little Gym and once again, Field is a fan.  He loves the Little Gym activities and what boy doesn't love being able to climb, jump, and run onto anything and everything in one giant, colorful room?

Books, books, books!  Still loves to read books.  We read A LOT during the day and Field continues to prefer the truck books over any other.

When he gives us a hug, we always say, "Awww," and so now when we ask for a hug, he says, "Awww" as he lays his head on you for about 1/2 second. :)

I realize that this is definitely delayed, but we finally and officially have Field out of the bath chair.  We tried so many different times only to have him act so crazy slipping and sliding all over the place, trying to stand up, and face planting (on purpose) into the water that we would immediately put him back in the bath chair.  But now, little man is able to control himself and not act so crazy in the tub so he gets to play without being in the bath chair.  That must be so SO freeing?!

A few favorite songs - Jesus Loves Me, Bath Time,Bath Time (a song made up by mommy), and This is the Way the Gentlemen Ride (a nursery rhyme sung by daddy).  He sings the songs with the right tune and all.  It sounds like someone singing the wrong words to the right tune because he sings in jibberish,  ;-)

We had a wonderful check up today with our pediatrician.  She is very pleased with Field's development, growth, and overall health.  We are very blessed and thankful this holiday season.

Happy 18 months, Field!

Hook 'Em Horns!

We had the pleasure of taking Field to his second annual UT football game a few weekends ago.  He was perfect in the suite and had SO much fun watching the game!

Grandaddy teaching him all about the game of football.

The Johnson fam

Nonnie was generous enough to take Field out in the hallway so he could run around for a bit
and mommy and daddy could actually watch the game.  :)

17 things at 17 months...

1.  Field is a great eater and puts WAY too much food in his mouth at one time.  This may be our fault for putting too much on his tray (we want him to gain weight, ok?:) but we are working on moderation when it comes to eating.  Silly boy.
Full mouth!

2.  Loves to use a fork but we have to put the food on the fork for him.  He wants a fork in his hand or we have drama.  I learned my lesson on not allowing him to use a plastic fork when he bit off part of the fork and ate it.  Oops.

3.  We took our first trip with just the two of us to Houston last week.  Had so much fun visiting my sweet college friends and LOVED meeting Mary Allen, Blair's new baby.  We had one sleepless night as Field refused to sleep in his Pack n Play, but he redeemed himself and slept all night the next night.  The 3.5 hour car ride was not bad at all!

Blair and Emily (2 of my best college friends) with Mary Allen

Field and Caroline (Emily's daughter) having fun in the sand box.

Field loved Caroline's fancy (and pink!) kitchen

2 BFF's with our babies.

Sweet girls, Blair and Mary Allen, and Mr. Field

4.  While in Houston, we were so happy and excited to meet and visit the Clanahans.  Quinn, like Field, has a CHD and has just recently had 2 open heart surgeries by Dr. Fraser, our same surgeon.  She is a rock star and just the sweetest, cutest little thing!  Her twin brother, Ryan, is a hoot and he was after my camera the entire time.  Meagan and I are secretly hoping that Field and Quinn will fall in love one day.  ;)  Meagan has become a very special friend of mine and I am so grateful for her friendship and support.

Sweet, strong, and brave heart babies.  Love at first sight?

Sweet Meagan, Quinn, and crazy Field

Love this pic.
Quinn is looking at Field who is looking at Ryan who is mad at Quinn for taking the camera.  Ha!

Ryan is after my camera and Quinn and Field are having a nice little date in the background.  ;)

The best pic I could get of the 3 of them.  Those 3 were very busy babies!

4.  Field's personality is what you would call...FEISTY.  If he doesn't like something or is upset, he will let you know.  It can be exhausting, but as always, I am thankful for his persistence and spunky attitude.  On that note, he takes some pretty nasty falls when he gets going too fast and doesn't even flinch.  No crying, just gets right back up and keeps going.  This reminds me a lot of his life.  He's had a few "falls," but gets right back up and keeps going.  My sweet, brave, and courageous boy.

5.  Field is a jokester.  He LOVES to be funny and if we laugh at him, he will do whatever made us laugh over and over, while throwing his head back and laughing with us.

6.  He continues to be a busy little boy.  He moves constantly and rarely sits still for more than a minute, unless he is sleeping.

7.  His vocabulary has exploded.  I have listed about 35 words that Field uses on a consistent basis.  His newest words are "peek-a-boo," "fox" (which is hilarious to hear him try to say the /x/ sound), and "giraffe."  Those are some tough words/phrases!  He also babbles a lot of jibberish.  There are 2 jibberish phrases that he says over and over to me and I have no idea what he is saying.  He gets so frustrated and upset with me that I cannot understand him.  Sorry, little man.  One of these days I will figure out what exactly you are trying to tell me!

8.  Field has a total of 10 teeth in that little mouth of his.  6 on top and 4 on the bottom.

9.  We found a type of milk that Field will drink - Almond Milk!  He loves it and drinks it, so we are thankful.

10.  Loves, loves, loves trucks.  Such a boy!  (I love reading to Field, but when we have to read the same Truck book over and over and over again...it gets pretty old.   Brad has asked me to try to find some other truck books.  I think he is feeling the same way.  Ha!)  We have had 2 different instances where Field got to visit a fire truck.  The first was when a firetruck was parked at my parents' neighbor's house.  An alarm had gone off, so they were called to the house.  After all checked out ok, they let Field get in and climb around.

And on another day, we stepped out of church and a firetruck was parked outside.  Field loved walking around the truck with daddy.  And what a coincidence - he happened to be wearing his smocked fire truck Jon Jon!  Ha!

11.  Climbs up the stairs and slides back down the stairs feet first.  He's gotten so good at it that we let him do it all by himself without help and without following close behind.

12.  Says "Hi" one million times a day.  To anyone and everyone that is around.  Very social!  He has even been called a future senator by some that notice his personality.

13.  Still folds his hands to pray and then yells out "Amen!" when we are finished.  Love that.

14.  Thinks about daddy often during the day and will randomly call out for him with a tone of voice like he is searching..."Dadda...Dadda...Dadda?"  (as he opens doors and looks inside each room).

15.  Does not allow us to brush his teeth.  He likes to do it himself or we have drama.  (Hmmmm, strong willed child?)

16.  Sleeps from 7:30pm until 8am and takes a 2 hour nap during the day.  (Hallelujah!)

17.  Is a JOY and LIGHT to all who know him and has a beautiful smile that lights up a room.

Oh sweet Field, we love you, precious boy.  We are so grateful for your life and are honored and blessed to be your mommy and daddy.  Happy 17 months!

4 to 16

I think it's safe to say he enjoyed the pumpkin patch a little more at 16 months. :)

Halloween Fun 2011

We visited the pumpkin patch with friends where I chased Field through the rows and rows of pumpkins and he barely stopped for more than a second for me to take his picture.
(If you know Field well, you KNOW this is true!)  ;)

Hey Harps!

Can Momma catch me?

On the run

Fine mom, I'll sit still for 0.5 seconds so you can take my pic.

The Oak Hills Country Club Halloween party was loads of fun!  Field LOVED the bounce house, but not when it was blown up and kids were jumping inside, but rather when it had deflated and he could run over the top.  Endless Entertainment.  And to top off the fun night, cousins Caroline and Ellie won 5th place in the costume contest and Field won 3rd place!

The Family

Our neighborhood had a cute little Spook Fest in one of the cul-de-sacs close by.  It was fun to see all of the young families in our neighborhood.  I say "see" because we didn't get to talk to many people.  Can you take a guess at what we might have been doing?  You got it, chasing Field all.over.the.place.  We are hoping this is just a phase and one day, we will get to enjoy adult conversations at family gatherings. ;)

Wagon ride to the party with the Meabons

Halloween was a blast!  The family came over for pizza and snacks and we loaded up the wagons for Trick-or-Treating as a group.  Loved the costumes and loved having such a large group to run around the neighborhood with.

50's mama, the golfer, and his caddy

Hey!

On the move

At the first house (our next door neighbors), we wheeled the wagon right up to the front door and Field took a piece of candy from the neighbor's candy bowl.  In return, he placed his sippy cup in the candy bowl.  Funny little jokester we have!

Trick or Treat!

One house handed out Capri Suns.  Field had never had one before.  He CHUGGED it!

Until next year, Happy Halloween!

Second Annual Team Field - Another Success

Last Saturday we participated in San Antonio's annual Heart Walk.  As the American Heart Association's signature fundraising event, the Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun, family environment.  The second annual Team Field joined thousands of walkers from all over San Antonio to have fun, get inspired, and support a meaningful cause.
The man of the hour - Field - of Team Field.

Field and Daddy.  Thanks Court for taking this pic!

Sweet Ella - one of Field's girlfriends

Team Field had almost 60 team members and we raised...wait for it...wait for it...
$3, 655.00 for the American Heart Association!

Our families

The amazing Team Field

I cannot even begin to explain how blessed we are to be surrounded with generous, supportive, and loving family and friends.  So many of our sweet family members and great friends came out to the walk and it truly meant the world to us.

Courtney and Ella
Field (making an awful face and wanting get "dow" to chase after the dogs) and Lisa
(Court worked very hard as Chair of the Heart Walk Committee)

When we walked last year, Field was only a few months old and there was so much that was unknown about his health, his development, and his upcoming surgery.  This year, as he ran around at the Heart Walk chasing dogs and playing with his red balloon, he was the picture of great health and we are so blessed and thankful for God's provision and protection over him.

Field at Heart Walk last year.  So tiny and all bundled up!

Loving his fans during the walk this year and such a big boy!

We enjoyed the event so much and once again, are so grateful to those who continuously love and support our family.  We hope that seeing sweet (and very active!) Field has brought you joy, hope, and faith that we have a God that is bigger and better and more capable than we could ever imagine.

Playing with his "survivor" balloon.

Field says, "Thank you!"
