Bryson came home Monday morning from Dede's house. When he walked in the door I immediately noticed his breathing, he was taking a lot of breaths and they were very shallow. I gave him a breathing treatment and attempted to call the doctor. I could not get thru, I took his temperature, no fever. I decided to go to work, but continued to call the doctor. After a little time at work I finally got thru to the doctor's office and they told me that I needed to count his respirations in a 30 second time frame, I called Debbie and she counted 21 breaths. When I called the doctor back to tell them the results they said that he was in respitory distress and I needed to take him to Cook's right away. I immediately left work, called Cleve and told him his golf game was being cut short, and headed to the house. When I got there I counted his breaths and they were 31 for 30 seconds, basically 1 breath per second. Anyway we got to Cook's and it was insane, people everywhere, no where to sit, CRAZY! Our neighbor works there and said that there was over 600 kids in the ER that day!
We finally got back to see the doctor and Bryson's breathing had gotten worse. They checked him out and said that his resiptory distress and wheezing was triggered by a viral infection. They gave him a oral steroid, huge breathing treatment, then monitored him for a bit, and sent us home with a oral steroid RX and instructions for breathing treatments every 3 hours as needed. We are so thankful that was all it was, with everything else going around we wanted to make sure. I posted an update on my FB status and immediatly so many of you were responding and praying for Bryson, we really appreciated it!
Today Bryson is doing great, even as we were sitting in the hospital and he was having a hard time breathing he was saying, I'm (Breath) Fine (Breath) Mom (Breath). This is not the first time that this has happened, you all may remember the last time I was in LA and had to board the plane not knowing what was going on with my baby, here is a link to the post:
