Sleepy Faces

We love watching Lilly when she's just between sleep and wake. She makes the silliest series of faces that alternate between frowns and smiles. This is a short sample, just ignore whatever I'm talking about in the background.

Lilly's 1st Christmas

We had a fun Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Berbert and family. Lilly got lots of great presents that we opened for her while she was napping . . . we must have worn her out on Christmas Eve. She is usually pretty alert during the day now, and she has been smiling more and more. I can also count on her to sleep pretty well at night now which is nice. She likes to stay up until 10 or 11 and then usually wakes once during the night to eat before awaking around 8 a.m. She is a calm baby, but she does like to have attention. Luckily she has lots of people willing to dish that out. We hope you all had a very merry Christmas, too!

Here's the family singing songs and reading about Christ's birth on Christmas Eve:

What's in a Month

I can hardly believe that Lilly was a month old last Friday. Now we can start counting her age in months instead of just weeks! Sometimes it seems like she has been with us forever, other times it seems like she was just born last week. Over the last week she has been getting better at going longer stretches at night without eating, but she has a hard time getting to sleep some nights, and sometimes she wakes in the early morning with stomach pain and grunts for a couple hours. Also, she is really good at sleeping while being held, and waking up a minute after being put down. But mostly we can't complain because she is a very happy/calm baby. She is getting better and better every week at eating, sleeping, playing, holding her head up, etc. We love having her in our little family. And we are all getting excited for Christmas in a few days! Do you think that Christ slept through the night when he was a baby? Just wondering.

Lilly has been wearing hats and bows in pictures a lot because it's cute and because she decided to develop some baldness in the past couple weeks. Here she is in all her chubby, bald glory:

Tummy Time, etc.

Lilly is getting bigger and stronger everyday! She has also been getting really good at sleeping at night when she should, which is good because Daddy needs sleep before his finals and Mommy just needs sleep.

Also, Lilly went to church for the first time this Sunday! We only went to Sacrament meeting and she slept the whole time, but it counts, right? Here she is getting ready to go...

Belly Button

Lilly is 3 weeks old today and, to celebrate, her umbilical cord finally fell off! She has a big girl belly button now! She still hasn't completely figured out that night time is for sleep, but maybe she's saving that for this week. We are loving her more and more everyday!

Here's the picture I took yesterday because I was a little sad it still hadn't fallen off:

And here it is today right after it fell off:

Hurray! We get to take a real bath tomorrow!

Here's a few more pictures of Lilly's week:

Lilly meditating

Lilly trying to eat my finger. Actually, she was upset that I was taking too long to feed her, so she very forcefully grabbed my finger and stuck it in her mouth and started sucking. It happened so quickly! I was totally caught off guard. I tried to recreate the moment in this picture, but she wasn't really feeling it anymore.

Tummy time!

Her hair looks so light in pictures!
