Kindergarten round-up

Tonight we went to kindergarten round-up as we prepare Rendon to start school next year. Here was a conversation had after the event.

John: So Rendon what are you most excited for in kindergarten?

Rendon: Everything!

John: You might get to see Boston in the halls.

Cassie: I'm sure you will see Boston in the halls.

Boston: Or the Bathroom.

Us: laughing???

Boston: Hey I see kindergarteners in the bathroom everyday.

Ha ha ha....

Next conversation.

John: So Rendon which teacher do you think is the prettiest?

Rendon: All of them.

John: Good answer.

Boston: Why did you even ask that?

Dad: Ha ha I don't know.

Boston: That made me feel really weird.

When leaving Sprouts after a shopping trip Rendon asked if he could eat one of the cookies we bought at the store. I said nope you can have one after lunch. Here was the conversation.

Rendon: Please mom can I have a cookie.

Me: No Rendon you know the rule. No treats until after lunch.

Rendon: Aw... lunch is no fun.

Why didn't I think of that.

After dropping Buddy (our dog) off at a friends house before our trip the boys asked why our friends did not own their dog anymore. Trying to avoid the death of an animal conversation we simply said that he went to live at their Grandma's house (which was true). Boston asked why. Here goes the conversation.

"Well guys their dog was sick and went to their Grandma's house where he died. He was very old."

Rendon suprised us all by responding...

"Well they can get a cat you know!"

That's my boy

As we finished eating dinner Boston says,

"I wish there was a party right here in the middle of our kitchen."

Just a snack...

So it's 8:30pm. Rendon is already in bed and it's totally Boston's bedtime. We just finish watching a family movie when Boston says,

"Hey mom and dad you think I could have a little snack real quick? Just a little snack like pizza."

My 5 year old is almost a teenager.

No more

As we get ready to put Boston down to bed he runs to our Christmas count down to change the day. He says that he wants it ready to be changed for tomorrow.

Unfortunately we notice that that he is already marked one day ahead (the 8th when today is the 7th). We inform him of this mix up in which he goes into a fit of tears that no we are wrong and it is the 8th today (he's really excited for Christmas).

He keeps this up all the way into his room where his brother is already asleep. John keeps telling him to whisper but he will not. Finally to end it all John says

"Fine Boston we'll just take it down. We'll just take it down because I don't want to add anymore stress to your life."

We were cracking up. Boston immediately stopped crying.

I can do that

We had a long conversation late one night with Boston about what he wanted to be when he grew up.

Engineer ('cause they make lots of money)
Astronaut
Musician
Fire Fighter
Archeologist
Sports player
Police officer

This is where it started getting silly...

Boston: A Jedi Night, but more than the electric guy. The Emperor. I don't know who my father would be though.

John: Wouldn't I be your father?

Boston: No, your not old enough. Well, your almost old enough.
_______________

Boston: A superhero strong guy. I know who I'm thinking of. I'm gonna write it down when I'm 5.

_______________

Boston: I wanna be a wrestler but the kind that you hit like this. (Imitating a boxer)

Mom: Wow, you would be good at that.

Boston: Yeah, really good.

_______________
Boston: Also a painter.

Mom: What would you paint?

Boston: I would paint a big huge picture of a lemonade stand. Then I could sell lemonade and make lots of money.

My Hero

Mom: Boston you have a great heart. (said after he did something nice)

Boston: Yeah, I'm on the right path to be a super hero.

Just checking

While watching Marley & Me the family was laughing and having a good time at all the silly antics of the dog Marley. In the middle of an important scene Boston gets up and asks us to pause the movie. We oblidge watching him go into the bathroom. He has to go I guess. When Boston returns a few minutes later he says, " I was just checking to see if my hair was still growing."

Dr. Ross

Boston has been talking a lot about going to "grown up" school when he gets older. He wants to be an Astronaut but knows that he can't become one until he goes to college/grown up school.

We had just had this conversation when Boston asked if we could all play doctor. We had just come home from the Kids Museum were we played in the hospital area.

Mom: Boston did you know that Aunt Sarah is a doctor? What do you have to do to become a doctor?

Boston: Wear glasses?

True Love

Around dinner time the other night.

John: Boston I'm gonna make you a sandwich with peanut butter, jelly and love. Would you like a cinnimon raisin bagel with your sandwich? (He is in a big time growth spurt right now)

Boston: Ya, I want a bagel with a sandwich and some love. (How cute!)

(10 minutes later)

Boston: "Can I have some love now?" he said pointing to the counter. We realized then that he thought "with love" meant the candy he got for Valentines day.

Thank goodness!

Rendon had thrown some cards to Boston's memory game on the floor. I asked Boston to pick some up for me while I cleaned them up. As he handed them to me he said "There you go, safe and sound."

Strike!!!

Cassie: So Boston, do you want to play a sport again this year? You could do soccer, baseball, basketball.

Boston: I know mom! I want to do bowling. That's a sport.

He was totally seriouse too.

A 4 year old goodbye

Leaving Evan's home (Boston's 4 year old friend).

John (yelling down into the basement): Boston it's time to go.

Boston: I cant' go.

John: Why not?

Boston: Because Evan won't give me a hug.

John: Evan, give Boston a hug right now. And make it a good one.

Evan: I already gave him a hug. I blew it to him.

Boston: But I want a REAL hug!

John: Boston, how 'bout a high five or a 'hit the rock' or something like that?

Boston: (annoyed) Fine. He's going to give me a hit the rock.

(Boston comes up the stairs with Evan behind him. Evan reaches the top and looks at me with all the disgust and irritation possible in a 4 year old's face)

Evan: Boston bit my finger. (said in a 'He must be punished now' type voice)

John: Boston, did you bite his finger?

Boston: I had too. He wouldn't give me a hug.

Things that go bump in the night...

We're kneeling down to say prayers at Boston's bedside. We ask him to sit up for the prayer. His blankets are so tight he's barely able to move. Realizing that John was leaning on his blanket, John lifts up his arms. A bump and a whimper immediatly followed.

Boston, tugging ferociously to be freed from the restriction, gave one final tug. The lack of resistence sent him crashing into the wall on the other side banging his head. Realizing how funny the situation was Boston laughed while holding his bumped head.

While playing with his play dough today Boston said "Mom look, this is me in you heart." You got that right baby.

My mother the Hero

Getting out of the car after church today.

Mom: Boston, don't forget to bring in your sippy cup.

Boston: Thanks Sippy Cup Man!

Hot Dog

While watching Dora the Explorer: We're a Team!

Swiper (wearing a hot dog costume): I'm dressed as a hot dog, he he he he he.

Boston: Ha, ha, ha. Hot dogs are funny.

Captain Pizza

John took Boston, wearing his cape, to the Pizza Hut by our house then swung into the 7/11.

The (no joke) middle eastern cashier says, "What are you suppose to be, Superman?"

Boston says, "No, I'm three and I want to eat Pizza and Bread sticks."

Water Animals

At swim lessons

Lifeguard: Ok everyone lets pretend to be fish swimming in the water.
Boston: I'm gonna be a rhino swimming in the water... with two horns!

Bless his heart. Bless his teacher.

Gender Issues

Boston: Mom, Dad when I grow up I'm gonna be a man... and a girl.

This was told to us right before we were saying prayers. Needless to say John and I were laughing too hard to pray.

Dizzy

Boston (refering to Dizzy): Mom why is that man doing that?
Me: Because he's an idiot!
Boston: Mom, why is that idiot man doing that?
Guess I'd better watch my mouth.

(side note: Dizzy is a man that walks an intersection a few miles from my parents house and dances to music in a set of head phones and carries a cross around)

Bambi's mom

Boston (while watching Bambi): Wow mom Bambi's mom is really brave.
Me: Yeah she is brave, is your mommy brave Boston?
Boston: No. (sweet sounding)
Me: Oh, what is mommy?
Boston: Your a bad guy.
Hmm.. thanks son.
