Sunday

This girls have been wanting to get out our Halloween decorations for at least a week.  I finally brought up the bins from the basement.  They had fun going through them and finding fun books to read and costumes to wear.  I realized right before we got ready for bed that we didn't take a photo today so I snapped this with my phone.

Go Utes!

Our friend Gregg called Brandon yesterday and had 4 tickets to the University of Utah football game tonight.  We were excited to go except that it was supposed to rain all day.  A good friend that I worked with for years at the church passed away, Della Mae Nelson.  Her funeral was this afternoon so I drove down separate to attend that then met Emily for lunch and shopping.  I picked up some ponchos since it was supposed to rain most of the game.  Brandon and the girls picked me up at Emily's and we headed over to the game.   We didn't go in to our seats until right before kick off to stay out of the rain and we lasted through the first quarter.  It started to get cold once the rain stopped and the wind picked up and we had drank all or hot chocolate so the girls and I walked around for a bit.  We left just before half.  Brandon would have been OK staying the whole game but we had fun the little bit we did see.

Camping

We went camping with out friends, Chip and Laura and their kids tonight, probably our last of the season.  It started raining just as we were roasting marshmallows so we moved into the trailer and played games.  The girls started getting really silly but had a great time.

Glasses

Gabrielle had her first eye exam today and she needs glasses.  She is pretty excited about it.  We will meet up with Brandon in the next few days to pick out frames.  I  think it helps that several people in her class have glasses.  I got glasses when I was in first grade and I didn't like it and people made fun of me, we have come a long way since then, I hope!

Happy Birthday

I turn 39 tomorrow and we celebrated today with Emily.  Brandon made some yummy ribs and Emily picked up some eclairs, my request.  We spent the morning with Gabrielle at the Ogden temple re dedication and enjoyed a relaxing rest of the day.

Timpanogos Caves

 

I have been wanting to do the hike to Timpanogos caves all summer.  We finally had a Saturday that we could all do it and headed up this morning.   My Mom, Kathryn, Layni, Kristen and Ryan came up last night and stayed the night.  Emily met us there this morning.  My Mom and Layni did not do the hike but stayed at our house and played for a bit this morning before heading down.  It is about a mile hike up to the caves and the girls did pretty good.  We had fun touring through the caves and a much quicker mile walk down.  The fall colors were gorgeous and the weather was perfect.

Fall Colors

The valley is gorgeous with all the fall colors exploding in the mountains!  We took a drive up Guardsmans Pass tonight to get a closer look.  We collected quite a few red maple leaves, the yellows will start changing shortly.  I love where we live and get to see these colors everyday!

We had all day passes at the Park City Mountain resort that we have been trying to use for several weeks.  Each day that we had planned to go it ended up raining and one day it was snowing so they closed the alpine slide.  We finally had a great day today but everyone else had the same idea!  We were hoping to ride a few things more then once but only did everything one time, we did not want to stand in line again for 90 min to ride the coaster!!  We will plan better next summer and go on a weeknight after work.  We did have fun however, it was a perfect day and the fall colors for beautiful.

Sick Sunday

Tabitha has had a bad cold all week from all the new germs with back to school and Brandon caught it this weekend.  They stayed home from church so Gabrielle and I went.  Gabrielle gave the prayer and scripture in Sharing Time, she read the 13th Article of Faith.

Labor Day

 Brandon and I were both challenged to do the ALS ice bucket challenge, so we did it last week.  We challenged David, Diana, Vanessa Emily and Justin Fife.  David and Diana challenged Gabrielle and Tabitha, they were excited to do it.  Tabitha really wanted to challenge her friend Kate who happened to be doing it at about the same time at her house!  Gabrielle challenged Scott.  We decided we would do it today when we were all together at my Mom's house.  The girls did great!  Tabitha and Scott both ran and jumped into the pool.  Kristen and Scott's bucket had a lot more ice so I am sure was a lot more cold.

We celebrated mine and Kathryn's birthdays today.  I love that we have birthdays so close together.  We have been celebrating them together for 20 years.  We had fun swimming, probably our last for the season.
