Another beautiful Southern California day! Clear skies and 66 degrees. I arrived at Tustin High School's soccer field at 8:10am, slightly late for our ward's first annual Turkey Bowl. Unfortunately, only four other people showed. :-( So, we passed a plastic football around, talked for a little bit before I headed out to go mountain biking.
Jenn slept in and spent some time at the gym before beginning our turkey dinner for two. Here are a few pictures of her "in the cooking groove." Mmmm.
I witnessed another sad realization that our blessed country, in its attempt to be politically and socially "sensitive" is moving further and further away from the traditions instituted by our inspired four fathers. On the radio this morning, there was no mention of "Thanksgiving." Instead I heard, "Happy Turkey Day." So sad. What would George Washington and Abraham Lincoln think? :-(
On a happier note, because it's our first and last Thanksgiving with just the two of us, we decided to go to the beach! It was our first time trying out our Aerobie. We waded in the surprisingly warm water and then right as we were about to get in the car and head home, I locked the keys in the trunk! How grateful we are that we paid the extra few bucks to have roadside assistance!
As we got home there was only one thing on my mind. Pumpkin pie and the USC vs. ASU game. Oh wait, that's two things. (too much turkey today...) I searched online for a free ESPN website and came across ESPN360. For people with AT&T internet (and for those who pay for the ESPN360 service), you can watch streamed ESPN online. So, we sat back and watched the USC vs. ASU football game on my laptop, from the comfort of our recliner couch! (and then we wait pumpkin pie).
Needless to say, it was a perfect end to a perfect Thanksgiving day. I am so thankful for my God! He is so gracious and kind. What a wonderful time to be living!
