I feel like the punishment/weight ratio is rather logarythmical, as in it increases with route steepness but not in a linear way - you’ll start noticing it on really steep gradients and with tiredness.

If you have a somewhat decent shape and don’t ride over too much steep gradients I’ll say just keep the steel fork. It’s cheaper if you just lose a kilo yourself than in your bike. And depending on the builder, steel frames and forks can feel as flexy if not even more than carbon.

Not sure about that. When I first installed Gentoo with OpenRC everything went fine, just the boot/shutdown times were a bit slower than with SystemD’s when it didn’t do this shenanigans. But when I started reading about the SystemD hype I decided to try it and it did this at random - and got fed up so went back to OpenRC and never experienced this again. Maybe a misconfiguration on my part or something but I didn’t do something out of what the manual said about how to set it up.

Despite still not getting why XFCE still haven’t moved on from GTK and the GNOME shenanigans on it - to the E libraries so XFCE and Enlightenment do a Dragon Ball Z type of fusion and become the one DE to rule them all, and thinking that the XFCE ui is a bit ass at some places for reasons I can’t understand (like having to scroll at some pages on their settings and the misaligned randomly placed stuff in there), I still have respect for their long-time devs and the work they’ve poured on their project over the years. Pretty sure the common sense will prevail in this case.

Is it acrylics? I did it once with my laptop when I was at uni, but with use it started to peel off. You’d want to add some protection layer of any sort if you want it to last if it’s indeed acrylics.

I use bash because gentoo’s portage has a hard dependency on it so in my mind it doesn’t make much sense to install and keep yet another shell just because colors and autocompletion. If they ever get rid of the bashisms in portage I’d surely consider moving to fish, but getting rid of the bashisms in portage means that portage could be ported to the BSDs one more time and we could have Gentoo/BSD again

So I got fed and said yuck, went back to ol’ good OpenRC and never ever had even a slight temptation to even look at systemd ever again.
