We’ve all heard the “my 100TB NAS is full of Linux ISOs” joke but how many of you actually hoard ISOs? I just noticed I have ~100GB, so not that many though definitely way more than I need (I just like to try new distros on my VMs and I never delete them after).
Two years into full-time Linux and I’m finally burning the distro-hopping cycle. I fell for the Arch/AUR trap for a while, but I got tired of spending my weekends debugging file manager crashes instead of maintaining my home lab.

A while ago I decided to get an extra m.2 drive and put Linux Mint on it to try and switch off Windows. I unplugged the original drive, plugged in the new one, put Mint on it, then put the old drive back in. This has allowed me to dual-boot. However, Ive since fully committed to the Linux drive and haven’t used the Windows drive in a long time. How do I put Linux on both drives?
I’m running CachyOS, and having an Nvidia card, I’m using their Nvidia-specific kernel. I know this 3060 won’t last forever, and I’m planning to upgrade to an AMD card for a better overall experience.

Hi all, thanks in advance for indulging a complete newbie! I’d like to try Linux on an 11-year-old MacBook Pro (gifted by a relative), but I don’t know where to start. What distribution would you recommend based on my background?
The role of AI tools (LLMs, mainly) in Linux is under discussion, or it was, until Linus Torvalds “put his foot down” in support of the use of AI in Linux kernel development.

An important difference between Wayland and X11 is that Wayland by concept combines window manager and compositor. That made it harder to write simple or experimental window managers for Wayland, such as StumpWM or i3.
So many people think open source games are a no-go. But there are many good FOSS games. Luanti CTF is one of those games I really enjoy. It is based on the open source voxel game engine Luanti which has similarities with the closed source Minecraft game.
DTAP protocol is a lightweight testing protocol allowing to validate Linux infrastructure at ease. Here is a code example of how one can check that their Rocky Linux VM is secure enough (more Linux distributions are easy to check the same way).
This looks interesting. It’s very new, so it will likely be a while before any OS would adopt it, but it definitely shows promise of a possible alternative to grub down the road
Really cool research. Overall, X11 still wins compared to Wayland(kwin) but only by 0.14 - 0.22 ms. The really bad performance hit is from XWayland which added 3.13 ms.
The brightness and gamma applet was a nice workaround for a while but stopped working last week, it increases gamma levels to 100% but doesn’t disable the night light anymore; the gnome extension caffeine sounded perfect but after installing I cant open settings/config/manual, there’s just a tray icon that doesn’t seem to do anything.
