This time I made it just a little bit smaller than I’ve been making them, to keep as much extra material as I could, to make into a built-in desk/table stand. I am very pleased with the results, as I still wasn’t sure up until the end if I was even gonna be able to pull off that stand part.

Potential color(s) to paint it, yet to be decided, but I feel the name should be one solid color, while the stand/underline part should be another color.

Thoughts and opinions welcome, as always. The lady this is meant for has no idea this gift is coming her way, but the elderly lady that asked me to make it for her is thinking red…

    Nice!

But i need a banana for scale. For me it looks the size of a paper clip?

But that’s going to be a little small for a coat hanger.

Absolutely agree; but, if you paint the name a bold color, a complementary color for the base might be fun!

We ultimately went with a rosy red for the name and a slightly dark shade of teal for the base.

I don’t even think I got a proper final photo of it, it’s out for delivery right now. But the colors complement each other quite well, plus should stand out whether placed on a white table or a brown desk…

Nice, clean. I tend to make at least one letter way out of proportion. And I don’t see any fixed, wrong bends. As far as colors, have you tried the, I’m not really sure what they call it, ‘dipping’? You get a tub of water and spray paint whatever colors on the surface, and dip your item in it. Gives it a swirling, layered effect. Not sure how well it would show up on a skinny wire, now that I’ve typed all of this out. Good luck.

I wish I could do creative additions like that for every name, but a straightened coathanger only goes so far…

At absolute most, I can get 8 letters out of one hanger. With only 5 letters, there’s extra material left over, so why cut it off when I can just get creative instead?..

Shit, now I need to redo my own name with a stand…

I have done similar with copper house wiring stripped of its insulation. I worked it into shape, hammered it flatter, and attached it to a basic wood backing to make a sign. If i can get in touch with who i made it for i would be glad to share an image
