The US president, who is a vocal supporter of fossil fuels, argues the move would make the UK ‘a wealthy country’.

        Not really though:

Labour will not revoke existing licences and we will partner with business and workers to manage our existing fields for the entirety of their lifespan.

We will not issue new licences to explore new fields because they will not take a penny off bills, cannot make us energy secure, and will only accelerate the worsening climate crisis.

Rosebank and Jackdaw had been approved in 2022 and 2023 respectively, so are grandfathered in to the existing licences, despite a court challenge in the intervening years.

It’s hard sometimes not to imagine there’s some guy who shows up on day one and lays it all out; here’s what the rich people will be getting, and devil take the hindmost. It would explain this kind of instantaneous disappointment very neatly (which is why I don’t believe it, tidy theories being most often wrong).

You should. Very well written comedy. Hasn’t really aged that much.

General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think “reputable news source” needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
