Awfully kind of you to pay off their credit cards so they can rest in peace without the shackles of debt.

2·23 hours agoNo shit dude. This is a meme about AI and construction. The entire argument this meme presents is the ability of AI (or rather lack of) to replace construction.
So coming in with a “AI has made in-roads with x other field” is a complete unrelated bullshit you’ve brought in to strengthen your defense of AI. That’s like if I said Invermectin doesn’t do shit for COVID, and you come in with “well it works great on horses”. Regardless of the legitimacy you
feelyour statement has, it’s off topic. And it still doesn’t change the fact that AI isn’t replacing shit when it comes to actual trades.

Well duh, the printer was out of Pineapple

3·1 day agoDon’t mistake my criticism as exclusion of other industries. At no point did I bring up any other industry and its relation to AI so let’s leave the straw man out of the argument. Furthermore you conflate sci-fi and hype with reality.
Specs exist, drawings exist, but work always deviates for one reason or another. It’s one thing to look at lines on a page and another to do it and be there. Little decisions to make changes to suit a situation or field conditions have to be made every day.

4·1 day agoUh, yeah. Cars are churned out as copies. Once you get it going, it’s rinse repeat. The difficulty is only upfront.
I’m talking commercial construction. Prebuilt homes have existed for ages. Hell you could buy a premade house from Sears. Good luck doing the same on a commercial level. To say nothing of the doldrum monotony of pre-fabricated buildings. There’s a reason pre-fabs aren’t more common.

6·1 day agoTells me you’ve never worked in construction. Building a building is far from straight forward. Shit changes way too often. Architects can’t and don’t understand every scope, but they get the broad strokes. Each trade understands their own scope best, which is why shop drawings exist, but even then, it’s the field guys who see what has to deviate from shops, which is why As-Builts and Record drawings exist. You will literally never seen a build go up as drawn. And that’s not even taking ASIs into account.

5·1 day agoYou can’t justify the whole of the AI and its industry and how it’s come about with “well this one model does this ethically” while ignoring the foundation it was built on.
You gonna tell me next that, “you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs?”
Sure, your little home server may not be killing the planet on the scale of commercial data centers, but participating in the use of AI is aiding in its propagation.
Furthermore, you may say that it’s helping you learn x, y, z but it’s been shown that it does impede your critical thinking over time. Part of learning is doing research on your own. You talk about learning from AI, but there’s a reason schools make you find the answers yourselves and don’t hand you the solution directly.
