Woah, this one makes my brain do some weird shit. I had to read this like 5 times.
Like my brain won't keep a consistent tone as I read it, keeps involuntarily slipping between "satire", "sincere liberal style imperialism-for-their-freedom", and "stroke / schizo-affective / unwell".
I actually don't know which of the 3 is my ending interpretation. Gatdamn this is some weird poison. Or I'm whooshed or similar.
Wtf lol

Chapotraphouse•why do the people in charge of processing the bourgie pre- peeled and chopped garlic have to do this total hack job
·21 days agoStumbled onto a cheap implement - think a thin-walled rubber tube about the dimensions of a toilet paper tube. You could imagine the world's longest "truck stop men's room
random segz itemvending machine cock ring" if you wanted, instead, but everyone has their own tastes.Anyway ya just roll the cloves around in that with some light pressure for a bit and the skins slip right off (with some end trimming of course, before or after).
I don't love a proliferation of single-use kitchen gadgets. I do like this lil guy though, perfect for it's niche and unobtrusive.
Still prolly not enough to invite knife-mincing a university's garlic needs, per Leroy's situation, lol, but worth trying on a smaller scale.

·21 days agoWait what's the soak for? Do folks find the jarred stuff too strong or something?
Check out this new episode of...
Vincible
The baldly self-evident, ongoing, "fake-it-til-you-make-it" approach to confidence from this guy is just...I mean I watch nothing from this dude. And then when I do, I feel this instant involuntary sympathy, like before my brain considers even any words being said or who I'm looking at.
Like my head goes back to shy kids forced to present whatever project, book report, etc. wayyyy back in elementary school.
The instant feeling the US Vice President engenders in me, immediately upon seeing him do anything, is "aww it's okay buddy you can do it, only gotta say a little more, you can do it!" hahaha
And then half a moment after that of course, rest of the brain chimes in with "well, remember, not actually eligible for pity".
And then the next thought is zoomed out, the team of people, who must work "with" him on this stuff, and how hilarious all that must be.
Idk. What an amazing experience to have over a few seconds.

·1 month agoI had a similar experience where I watched a bit of his stuff some months back when Iran situation was first heating up, it seemed like fairly straightforward analysis of imperialist geopolitics we were all watching play out. And then yeah, looked a bit beyond that to see some other content and it got weird real quick, turned into quite the "nope!".

Chapotraphouse•Is it ‘soccer’ or ‘football?’ President Trump wants to rename the NFL
·2 months agoThe Olympics are a scourge of traveling marauders who force each town to produce a team of "athletes" to compete with them in each sport.
It's not violent (if the towns produce each team...) but it's just hours of local townspeople getting rudely bullied, just utterly clowned in every sport imaginable by a rotating cast of bored exceptionally talented jerks.

·2 months agoBut I also like the idea of roving bands of top tier athletes just going town to town and relentlessly annihilating every team of random people they meet, because it seems funny.
So. Rather than DM I'll just be weird and ask here.
How'd the listen hit? I actually enjoy any amount of appreciating AND shitting on any art in this space, so feel free to let it rip.
Funny thing about heavy music, within the same space of humans, you get some of the LAZIEST people right alongside some of the gnarliest, hardest-working, most interesting music brains.
Feel free to trash anything I ever recommend - with all sincerity.
And now, with my conscience clear, I will ask - plz, gib. Lemme get 1-3 records from you I really gotta hear. Just cuz you think they're dope.
(It can be more than 3 lmao, 1-3 felt like a polite thing to beg)

·2 months agoSure feels to me like a lot of what we're seeing is the rich increasingly running out of profit faucets, reaching for ever dumber and more harmful shit. Broadly it's more and more coercive relationships with the consumer in all things, while the products (services, whatevers) themselves just get shittier and/or less safe and/or more exploitative, pick your combo depending by thing sold (may as well say rented or licensed I guess too, lmao).
It feels like thrashing, for sure, I would say panicked thrashing but less sure there, think I'm conflating the suffering that's here and coming, for the not-rich, with what I'm expecting the rich are feeling.
The many ways to borrow money for trivial and unnecessary small things has always looked like a bad sign to me as well, I haven't looked at any of them in detail but just on the surface, mathematically, it feels like combining all the delights of payday loans with the short-term attractive but obviously long-term unserviceable debt of the subprime lending crisis.
And huh, looks like we are also doing that mathematically ~guaranteed long-term unserviceable debt move, as a nation, with gigantic internal combustion engine vehicles being sold but not quite bought, all the time.
It's like in addition to all the rest, the tightening of capitalist "opportunity", we also figured out how to kind of atomize the disastrous lending that characterized pre-2008.
I'm no eCoNoMiSt (🤡), but, that seems pretty bad.
