Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•Asks which folder I want every time I download an image
2·9 days agoIf you check(tap on the link) your Default save location setting, is a folder specified? I’m on v1.468 and it doesn’t ask me for a folder when I download an image. Also, is the issue for image posts or more specific, like images in comments or something?
I’ve seen the issue of notifications about a previous post from a couple of updated back but haven’t noticed it recently. Although I currently don’t have any alerts set and I think it’s an issue with alerts for communities. But for me, If memory serves, when I made a new post, shortly afterwards, I would get a notification for the post I made previously.
EDIT: It’s any new post; not just my own. There was just a new post in this comm and I got a notification for the previous post instead.
I think the error code was 400? Anyways, it’s fixed now. Came up at the bottom and the post still loaded up when you tapped on the inbox message so it wasn’t that bad. I saw a report for another app about a similar problem and wondered if we were affected.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[FIXED]Video playback broken .464
1·15 days agoThat’s weird, it seemed like every video but I just tried one and it worked. This one is exhibiting the problem though. Will see if I van find a pattern.
EDIT: Videos as part of a gallery seems to be the common link? Another example.
EDIT2: So I added posts to a folder but how do I access the folder? I’m not spotting it on the Saved page.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[FIXED]Can't scroll user note context on revisit .462
1·16 days agoOoOohh, the settings is nicely organized now. While bug fixes and new features are of course appreciated, I think UX improvement like this and all of the loading indicators are also important, particularly for newer users or more casual ones.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[FIXED]Blurry thumbnail with Lemmy list view .457
1·24 days agoYup, fixed in 459. The media info button was in 458 and I totally missed it didn’t I?
Another thing I just noticed is when viewing a user profile, the extra fields, like including your homepage, pronouns, etc, just show an exclamation point instead. A work in progress I presume. And with follow functionality added recently, perhaps your following and followers list on your user profile will follow afterwards.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[FIXED]Blurry thumbnail with Lemmy list view .457
1·25 days agoI’m getting a 403, invalid statusCode error whenever I tap on a piefed.social hosted image. The thumbnail is loaded fine and viewable. I think this was introduced recently and was not the case previously. I’m on 458.
Also, when you tap on a thumbnail and then tap on the overflow menu, the menu that pops up shows the comments for the post? Not sure if that’s intended behavior since previously this provided media info for the image.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[FIXED]Un-down/upvoting visual bug .453
1·1 month agoThe vote undoing is fixed but if you do it for your own posts then it’s still an issue in 454. Also your vote total gets messed up as well and you keep sliding in the negative when you undo an upvote and then restore it; to test. Some people intentionally downvote some of their posts so maybe some sort of manual option to reset a user vote total would work for them and me, who’s sitting at -8 for myself.
EDIT: Also, I tried importing a settings export from yesterday to try and fix the -8 thing and it didn’t fix it. Not sure if it’s just because of this particular issue or an issue with vote totals not being exported?
EDIT2: Actually, that reset function is useful. There’s a couple of accounts with vote counts that I would like to reset and now I can at will.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[FIXED]Un-down/upvoting visual bug .453
2·1 month agoI think on the list view it looks out of place. When you’re viewing the post, I don’t think it needs to be shortened there. And on card view, it’s probably fine as well.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[ADDED]Overriding user notes when applicable
1·2 months agoI kinda liked the checkbox. It may be better UI and more informative to the user. But yeah, I guess it’s not necessary now.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[ADDED]Overriding user notes when applicable
1·2 months agoI was testing this out with a different user, because I can’t remember the original account this was about, but I was trying to remove the note for that specific account and this doesn’t seem possible? If I don’t check the box then nothing happens. If I do check the box and delete the note then it’s just deleted and no longer propagating. I think making the option an exception rather than the current revision of the existing global note may be better?

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•setting for default sorting order?
1·2 months agoIn case you didn’t already know, to change the feed, from the main menu on the left, tap on the three dots for Frontpage to change it to the default. Connect calls your Subscribed feed Frontpage.
Yeah, a few thing changed to possibly chalk it up to mis-taps or something; does seem like something caused it.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•setting for default sorting order?
2·2 months agoIn Settings, if you go into Post Customization, the Default sort for Posts, at the top, is for your feed. A bit further down, the Sticky sort per community setting can also be set for specific communities and overrides the upper setting. That second setting does come up if you search “sort” but the first doesn’t. Some of the settings seem to be unlabelled and does not come up in search.
Regarding the reset of your settings, that does seem odd. If other people have experienced this as well, hopefully they’ll chime in with their experience. I’ve had this happen way back but haven’t noticed this recently.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•[BUG]Blocked instance showing up on All .441
1·2 months agoAnother screenshot example. A wild guess is maybe the lemmy hostname prefix has something to do with it? It’s the only one on my list that has one; the rest is just sitename.TLD.

Connect for Lemmy App@lemmy.ca•Blocked Instances Still Showing Up
2·2 months agov1.428 was released yesterday and the changelog mentioned changing it so blocks take affect immediately and not having the cache showing blocked stuff until the app refreshes. I think it’s a beta build so you will need to join the beta, which can be done from the Connect app page on the Play Store.

Announcements@lemmy.zip•Important - Piefed.zip down due to security maintenance (Resolved)English
3·3 months agoAppreciate the email on this. I don’t think I got an email from Piefed.social either. Heck I don’t remember getting any from Lemmy.ca for Lemmy downtime. But perhaps they haven’t ran into a similar situation.
I’m on 423. Bug fixes can be hit or miss sometimes. A fix may address some but not the entirety of a problem. The changelog did cautiously mention fixing some causes of this issue. But surely the dev will come back and resolve it some day.
Actually I think I ran into it just now and the text field became empty. However, because I have save draft enabled, I just backed out and went to reply again and what I typed up was restored. I’ll have to pay attention to what happened just before that may be triggering this.
I haven’t done many Piefed searches so that mag be why I haven’t noticed it.
The sorting issue I do see from time to time. It seems like a caching issue and refreshing the feed will fix it. It’s not limited to the Connect community and I don’t think it’s just New either.
Until the issue is resolved, an alternative is to post using your browser. Sometimes I do that for certain Piefed functionality that haven’t been implemented yet.
I realized some people may have reader mode working, so the typical preview gesture is preferred for them because accessing the article through reader mode is just a tap away.
In my case, I don’t have reader mode on because this also requires links to open in a custom tab or the internal browser. But because both will show ads, despite uBlock Origin, I stick to the external browser. And why I made the original post/suggestion. If extensions would work with the custom tab option, then I would use reader mode.
