Which is such a shame because,

Jenkins, who created HBO’s “Our Flag Means Death” pirate comedy, was hired in July 2025 to pen the pilot and serve as showrunner if it was ordered to series.

Is basically the perfect pitch for who should be writing this show.

Obviously it could have been garbage, but I think a series in that style would be perfect.

The worst thing about Foundation is the Foundation.

The Empire story is 10/10, but the Foundation story is passable at best. The Empire story gets better and better, and season three was amazing.

If the show were more popular someone probably would have made a supercut of just Empire stories and it would be amazing.

May was being the mother that she didn’t have.

Jean and her sister talk about their mother abandoning them once they got their powers. Jean even tries to rationalize it as what else could her mother do.

Jean and Peter are also both living lives of isolation. Jean only had her sister so it doesn’t take much for her to turn antagonistic. Peter had a stronger foundation, but even he starts to slip, he throws Scorpion into a police car and nearly kills the officer inside.

Peter is able to find his way back because he finally reaches out and interacts with MJ and Ned. He has a friend. That’s all Jean needed. Jean needed someone, she needed a friend.

When Jean sees Peter’s memory she sees the kindness she’s been missing. She tries to dismiss it as just a memory, but Peter says he’ll be her friend. Jean wants to be a good person, but if everyone treats you as a monster, you act like a monster.

I’ve seen a lot of the marketing/news, and I was still surprised by a lot of this film. It’s been strongly rumored that Sadie Sink was playing Jean Grey, but how her story was told was a complete surprise and what was told was excellent.

I also like that, similar to Loki, she is starting as a villain. Now her story gets to be her becoming a hero.

Also I want Spider-Man vs Kingpin. Someday.

Phenomenal.

First, yes, Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey. Ok, onto film spoilers.

My favorite scene has to be the “unforgivable” MJ fake out. I didn’t believe it, but I wanted to believe it. Jean Grey called it, true loves kiss breaks the spell. Fucking liar. Absolutely crushed. It also perfectly shows us how great Peter is. He can forgive Jean for something unforgivable and be her friend.

Also a highlight to the cinematography, especially during the fight with The Hand. Spider-Man flips, the camera flips. Swordfighting fun. Just solid.

And of the course the post credits. We have a Spider-Man in New York. We have a Spider-Man in space. This film showed us BOTH Spider-Men! Next up must be “The Punisher goes to Space!”

The news comes despite the fact that Disney announced a Season 2 renewal for the show back in March, roughly two months after it debuted.

I hate this new trend of renewed means maybe.

I hope the characters appear again elsewhere, but even then the style of the show was something new.

The Doorman episode alone makes the series worth watching. (And if you haven’t watched it, and don’t want to, go watch that episode. It’s mostly standalone.)

Exactly. It’s called “Superhero fatigue” but it’s wildly inaccurate. It’s bad movie fatigue. Not that pre-Endgame we didn’t have bad films, they were just more in the beginning of the saga and people were more forgiving.

Plus it’s not like the MCU was alone in putting out bad movies. We had the Sony Spider-Man without Spider-Man films (Venom, etc) and the DCEU which had great films, but more bad than good.

I will always find it funny that at the end of Venom 2 Eddie Brock and Venom jump universes and see the “Spider-Man revealed as Peter Parker” newscast, basically setting up Eddie Brock and Venom being in the MCU, then near the end of Spider-Man No Way Home we get a random scene of Eddie Brock learning about Thanos… and immediately sent back to his universe.

So technically the crossover already happened… Venom just didn’t interact with anyone. Well except Danny Rojas.

Ducktales (2017).

Sure you could watch the original from the 80s, but if you grew up on that series and 90s Disney cartoons then the 2017 Ducktales series will be a treat for you both.

Nightcrawler has always been one of my favorites. This episode continues that trend.

I don’t think if you skipped films you’ll go into Doomsday confused.

Look at the opening of Infinity War. Thor and Hulk are in space. When Bruce returns to Earth everyone is surprised to see him. Bruce is surprised to learn that Tony and Cap are fighting.

In theory you could say that you have to have seen Thor Ragnarok to understand why Thor and Hulk are in space. You have to have seen Age of Ultron to understand why Hulk was missing. You have to have seen Captain America Civil War to understand why Tony and Cap are on bad terms.

But when you watch the film you’re not confused.

Let’s say you skipped the Doctor Strange films, he gets a whole introduction when they explain the Infinity Stones, plus a fight sequence to see more. If you skipped Age of Ultron you don’t know who Wanda and Vision are, but they get a whole character moment intro and then again a fight scene to show off who they are.

Obviously if Doomsday is a bad film, then yeah it will be confusing, that’s what will make it a bad film. But if it’s a good film you can just have a passing knowledge of the MCU, the last film you could have seen could be Endgame, and it’ll still work.

This looks more action heavy than I would have guessed the film needs to be. I guess they’re trying something different, but I’m not sure it’s going to work.

But that’s not what happened. Most films are either new stand-alone films with some connective bits at the end, or they’re direct sequel films that assume you’ve see the previous films within that franchise, but also fill you in.

The two biggest films were actually the most interconnected. Spider-Man No Way Home is full of Spider-Man references not just in the MCU, but to the previous Spider-Man films. Deadpool & Wolverine is full of X-Men and Marvel films pre-MCU references. Both of these films are highly rated and made a shit ton of money.

But are there a number of mid tier films released? Absolutely. But it has nothing to do with required viewing.

But I don’t believe Massie can run in the midterms.

I admit I am wrong that he can’t be the incumbent, because technically being the incumbent just implies holding the office, not running for the office they currently hold, but in a world where a special election happens (or an appointment), and Massie takes McConnell’s Senate seat, he can not run in the midterm election.

Per Ballotpedia the deadline to file as a unaffiliated (independent) was in June.

Any special election would only cover the remainder of McConnell’s term and not the term after, which is a whole separate election that is happening in November.

My guess, after reading more about it, would be that a special election could include the two current midterm candidates AND Massie (as an independent), and that election could result in a Democrat winning. Then because the Democrats “just won” it would lower Republican voter turnout in the midterms. (Although I suspect in this scenario the midterm and special election would both take place in November, so it wouldn’t be two separate elections, but Massie would get more air time to ensure the Republican doesn’t win.)
