Three Cats Thursday: Phantom is a Bad Cat... Help!

Happy Three Cats Thursday, Cuteheads! Today Phantom is taking over, as he does every single friggin' day in our house.

I have a question, and I'm hoping you all can offer some suggestions.

Phantom is bad. Adorable and cuddly and loving... but bad. He knocks anything off any surface -- while looking right at me. He tries to move anything that isn't glued down, just to get my attention. He even moves paintings on the wall!

And when I look at him or tell him no, he makes the cutest meow and then runs over to his toy box, like I'm going to play with him. It's cute that he does that, but so honestly maddening that he does it all day, every day. He never gets tired! I can't seem to get anything done at the computer without saying "No!" 10 times a minute.

I have tried reverse pychoolgy and ignoring him. I have tried being nice and calling him over from whatever bad he is doing and loving on him, so he gets the idea that "stop!" is good, I have tried to play with him to wear him out (that lasts about 10 minutes and he's back at it), I have tried blasters (look up SCCCAT from PetSafe - great concept, but I need about 100 of them!)... and I have no idea what else to try!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Obviously I love him even though he's horrible, but I'd really like to be able to get some work done at home, especially since I'm trying to start a real, legitimate business here (CatLadyBox!) and I actually have to work! :)

Help!

Cat and Turtle Playing Tag

Tag, you're it! It's the modern-day story of the tortoise and the cat hair (Sorry... I had to!).

A fluffy black kitty and a surprisingly agile and fast turtle played an exciting game of tag around a pole, and lucky for us, someone was there to video it!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

We Did the #MiceBucketChallenge for Shelter Animals!

Now this is a cause we can get behind! We were challenged to do the #MiceBucketChallenge!

The Mice Bucket Challenge is similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge... but with toy mice -- and it's to raise awareness for shelter cats (and dogs!). The idea is that you gather up all the mice you have in your house, and then dump them on your head (or on your cat if he's cooperative!).

We were challenged by Connie from Tails from the Foster Kittens, and we gladly accept!

Plus, I'm going to add in another piece of my own... I'm going to donate $1 for every mice we used to our favorite local rescue who helps with all our kitty transports, Good Karma Pet Rescue! There's no need to donate money, of course, it's all just to raise awareness.

And now that we've done it, we'd like to challenge:

Angie Bailey of CatLadyLand and Texts From Mittens, Tamar Arslanian of I Have Cat, and Venus the Two-Faced Cat herself!

Get on it everyone!

Transport Happy Ending Photos (Hurray!) and a Little Bit of a Break

This past weekend we had another wonderful transport going on! Lots of kitties went to their forever homes all over the place!

I didn't share as much throughout as normal, so I wanted to share the best part... the new forever home pictures!

Ariel and her new mom, Cutehead Amy S., in Indiana!
Chatter and her wonderful new mom, Ashlee, in Illinois!
Ringo and his lucky new mom, Alicia, in New York!
And last but not least... old lady Gwen and her amazing new forever mom, Cutehead Karen R., in Maryland!
Remember the story of old lady Gwen, the old cat who's elderly owner surrendered her to the shelter in such a sad way that we jumped into action to save her? She is now safe and sound and will be spoiled!

Gwen's is one of my favorite rescue stories ever. Ever ever ever.

And about that break...

There is nothing more fulfilling that helping these kitties. I love all the people and all the lives we save, and we'll keep doing it!

But for now I'm going to take just a little break. The Cute will be back next week! I just need to take a few days and relax and do a little bit of nothing.

If you want to make sure you don't miss the next post, sign up for emails with the link below and you'll get it as soon as it goes up!

How to Introduce Two Cats Together (a Cute Play-by-Play!)

Getting a new kitten (and keeping the peace) can sometimes be a pretty big mission -- and every mission should have this cute and happy of an ending!

While I think these people got lucky with how well and how fast Shorty and Kodi got along, they do have some great points, and some super cute video to go with it!

P.S. If any of my three cats slept together like that, I think I'd probably lose it. It would be a miracle. Haha.

P.P.S. We have a couple transports this weekend, and we only need ONE more leg covered! Can anyone help Saturday, March 8?

***Ashburn, GA to Atlanta, GA - afternoon***

If you can help, please fill out our volunteer driver from! Help us save some adorable kitties!

Three Cats Thursday: Let's Just Go Ahead and Make It Official... Welcome, Phantom!

Happy THREE Cats Thursday, Cuteheads! Yes, that's right... three cats.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, PHANTOM!

Me and my third son, Phantom Noodle.

He's a silly boy, so he fits right in!
So there's that. I have three cats. Phantom has worked his way into all our hearts (even Moo's, although he'll never, ever admit it). We're looking forward to lots and lots of Three Cat Thursdays together!

Next week, make sure to come by on Thursday instead of Tuesday to catch up with the boys! All three of them!

I Don't Know If It's Three Cats Thursday.

Before you jump to comment (I know what you all think!), just read me out.

I love Phantom. He is quite possibly the best cat ever... and I have two amazing cats! But Phantom is special. This boy is the sweetest, most innocent and adorable and angelic thing ever. Who knows what happened to him in his life, but he just still loves everything.

He chirps and loves and follows me around like a puppy. He's so soft. His eyes are so gorgeous. His personality will just melt you.

Phantom wasn't sure about this picture.
But I've been doing a lot of thinking lately (sometimes I over-think, I get that from my dad) and I'm just not sure that Phantom is the third cat I never wanted. I feel like maybe I'm just trying to replace Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea was my third cat. I knew that with everything I had. There was no question. What I felt for her I'm not sure I'll feel about any kitty again.

And, unfortunately, Phantom is not Pea.

I love him. I just don't know if he's truly my third cat. You know what I mean? I hope this is making sense.

All sassy-like after his first bath.
I was reading through old posts from when we lost Pea, and she was just so special. I resisted a third cat for so many years. So many. Sweet Pea was the only one who could change my mind, and even she almost didn't.

And now we have Phantom here. Moo doesn't like him, and Pimp is usually indifferent, but sometimes hisses. Phantom wants all the love in the world, and literally throws temper tantrums when he's not getting it. It's absurdly adorable. He breaks my heart.

But I'm not sure if he breaks it enough to be my third cat.

I'm so torn. And at this point, I couldn't just adopt him to just anyone. It would have to be someone I know and trust with what could very easily be my own child. He'd love anything and everything, I'm sure -- cats, dogs, people, kids.

Melt.
He is amazing. I truly think he should be a therapy cat. (I looked into it!) He should be sitting on hospital beds with children in pediatric care units and with elderly folks in nursing homes. He could bring joy and peace to any place, and he'd sit on a lap and purr for hours without complaint or want to move.

But I'm just not sure he's mine.

No clue what to do. :(

P.S. His leg is so much better! Still swagger, but he's walking on his foot just fine!

Here are Pimp, Moo and Phantom all kind of playing with one toy.

It Takes a Village: The Story of One Old Cat

Yesterday, while scrolling through Facebook, I came across a story that moved me so much that I immediately moved into action. My friend, Chris, had been at the shelter when an old man was surrendering his old cat, and the scene was something she just couldn't shake. It was so sad and so touching.

She was picking up a foster dog at the time and had her hands full, but she shared it on Facebook, where I saw it. I'm not sure I even got halfway through before I myself was in tears, ready to move mountains and leap buildings to help this cat.

After reading her post and doing some digging, I posted this below on my personal Facebook page -- and the response was overwhelming and amazing.

Here is what I posted:

Yesterday, a friend of mine was at the Palm Beach shelter picking up a foster dog when she saw an elderly man surrendering his cat. Her name was Gwen, he told them, and is between 10-13 years old and black. The poor, sweet man had even brought her a bag of dry food and three cans of wet food. My friend said he didn't seem like he could afford much, so this was probably everything in the world he could do for the old girl. It was like he was dropping her off for boarding, she said. He probably thought she'd be safe.

My friend, Chris Dominick, couldn't shake what she'd seen, but couldn't take the cat then. So she went to the Urgent Cats of Palm Beach County page and posted what she saw, hoping the old cat could be identified, and someone might be able to help her.

I read her post as was just as torn apart as she was. So I picked up the phone and called the shelter, trying to find Gwen. She wasn't listed on any of their websites, so I was hoping she was just not put up yet.

They first told me it would be nearly impossible to track her down with what little we knew. They get like 50 animals a day, and surrender times aren't listed. She'd have to go through them one by one... I told her the story, and she started to melt and told me to hold on.

When she came back on the phone, she was already combing through intake records -- and we found Gwen! There was just one problem: Her notes said that she was friendly when she was first taken out of her carrier, but hissed and swatted at the vet when they tried to draw blood to process her (of course she did; it's a loud scary shelter!), and so because of that and her "geriatric" age, she could not go into the adoption program.

Basically, she'd be put down that night if I hadn't called. We reached them with maybe 30 minutes to spare.

She asked if I was interested in adopting her, and that if I was they could put a note in her file and keep her for ONE more day, max. I told her that I wanted to work to rescue her, and that if they gave me that day, I could make it happen.

And so my name is in her file now. And Gwen has until they close tomorrow, 2/12/14, to have a plan.

Can anyone adopt her? We can transport!

If not, can anyone local (Broward County, ideally) foster her for a few weeks while we work it out?

We can't let Gwen down. As many cats as we help, I rarely pick up the phone to call the shelter about them. But her story just moved me to tears and shattered me.

Can we please save her? Share far and wide!

She is at Palm Beach Animal Control. Her ID # is 1719429. We can transport her to a good home.

That old man thought he was doing what was best for his Gwen... Let's make it come true, shall we?

This is the picture of Gwen the shelter emailed me after I called.
Within an hour, there were nearly 100 shares and the most heart-warming comments. Bottom line: Gwen has a local foster (think you Cutehead Kyle S.) and hopefully an adopter and/or rescue backup.

I emailed the shelter to let them know, and if all goes according to plan, we should be able to get her out safe today! I will post when she is out for sure!

All paws crossed for Gwen until she's officially busted out, OK? Thanks, Cuteheads! I hope we can work a miracle for this old, sweet girl (and her sweet old former owner!). Huge thank you to Chris for telling this old girl's story so we could all work together for her!

P.S. We can make these amazing things happen because of the amazing group of friends we have here! I can never feel grateful enough. Everyone is just so nice!

P.P.S. If you'd like to adopt her, please fill out our adoption form. We can transport to a good home!

UPDATE 10:14am: Just got off the phone with the shelter to confirm she's still there and let them know we 100% will get her out (wanted to make sure nothing bad happened!), and she's still there! Working out the details on how we'll get her out. Will continue to update when she's safe!

11:10am: Cutehead Leslie W. is going to head over to bust Gwen out in the next couple hours! She'll go to our vet, Dr. Simon's Pet Clinic, and then to foster with Cutehead Kyle S. tonight! I'll keep updating... Still looking for adopter.

12:05pm: Leslie is on her way to bust Gwen out right now! Thank you to Good Karma Pet Rescue of South Florida  for stepping up to help her while we work out her adopter and transport!

2:30pm: GWEN IS SAFE! Yeah! Here is her freedom photo. And she is absolutely gorgeous! She will go to foster tonight while we work out her plan. What amazing teamwork today!

3/8/14: Gwen is on her transport to her new mom, Cutehead Karen R. is Maryland right now! YES!

Gorgeous Gwen out of the shelter! Yay!

Happy Caturday! Phantom Checks Out the Morning

Phantom wanted to check out how everything looked outside this morning, and I just thought it would make the cutest picture... and it did!

Happy Caturday, Cuteheads!

NOTE FROM CUTE: OMC! You know what we did yesterday? We busted a kitty that looks JUST like Maru out of our shelter! Check out Paulie!

He only needs $59 to get healthy and set up for his transport, so I set up a little donation page: http://youcaring.com/paulie

I'll set up more for other kitties as we bust them out. Just want to raise what we need for each one. Thank you! And if you can't donate, don't worry! But click over to the fundraiser anyway -- there's a really cute video of him there! :)

Two Cats (and a Phantom) Tuesday: The Squeaky Mousie and Cat Trap Blankie

Happy Two Cats and a Phantom Tuesday, Cuteheads! Today Pimp and Moo are "trapped" on the couch... and Phantom is making it so no one is ever going to get any sleep around here.

Have you all ever tried to trap your kitties somewhere? I bet you have!

Pimp and Moo love to sleep on the couch (and of course they are totally allowed), but I am just not a big fan of having to vacuum it every day just so I can sit on it. And so I designed this handy, never-fail cat trap.

Snug as to cats on a trap.
It's called a blanket.

I'm sure you've used this tactic before. Boxes also work very well for the same purpose. You put a box or a blanket down, and the cat will appear on it within minutes. Tada! It's like it was a trap. :)

Zzzzzzz...
And now here's the silly boy... Phantom loves to play! He is a crazy nut! He just had endless energy, and so I try to get stuff to keep him busy.

When I saw this squeaky mouse at the story, I just knew he'd love it. And so I bought it for him -- and now all I hear is squeak squeak squeak all the time.

But how could I care about that? Just look how happy it makes him!

Two Cats (and a Phantom) Tuesday: We ALL Went to the Vet

Happy Two Cats and a Phantom Tuesday, Cuteheads! It's been a busy week over here -- everyone went to the vet!

Let's go down the list with the reports for each. Some did better than others. Everyone but Phantom has a follow-up visit scheduled. Sigh.

Pimp

We're going to that place, aren't we mom?
Pimp is hyperthyroid, you all know. He also has been pooping kind of mucus-y (not too icky, just slick -- we talk poop here, OK?). Anywhos. The vet said his heart rate is elevated, which means his thyroid levels are probably spiked. This is likely because that stinker gets into Moo's food all the time for a bite or two -- no matter how close I think I'm watching!

She is running the tests and we'll know for sure tomorrow what his levels are, but she thinks they will come back high because of the heart rate. So I need to really watch what he eats, and if they don't get back down to normal like they have been (the y/d food has been great!), then we might need to go the medication route.

As for the poop, I'm keeping an eye on it. She thinks maybe he ate something or it could be the food.

Pimp also has a mild ear infection in each ear. How in the world did I not know this?!? I feel like a horrible mom. But he has showed NO signs. No shaking his head, itching, scratching, acting like it hurts when I pet him, head tilts, nothing she said would be a sign. So he has ear drops twice a day now. Joy. We're heading back February 1 for a follow-up.

Moo

I do not like being at the vet!
Moo actually lost weight, so we started out with good news there! But then the vet called later that night and told me his glucose levels were high. This could mean two things: Beginning of diabetes or that he was very, very stressed.

Cats glucose spikes when they are nervous up to about 220, she said, is an acceptable stressed range. Moo's were at 248 (I think). He has always been high at the vet, but that is higher than normal. She really does not think it's diabetes, but he's headed back when Pimp goes to retest.

Phantom

Phantom went to see a specialist for his special leg. He walks planted on his calf basically on his back left leg. Like from the knee down is flat on the floor. He went to see our vet, and he recommended a specialist. See how he struts in the video up there?

The doctor took an x-ray and had probably the best report we could hope for. She thinks it's from an old muscle tear or trauma... and it might actually just heal on its own! She says it is not nerve damage (like the shelter thought) and not an Achilles tendon injury (like the vet thought it might be), but a muscle thing. And since muscles do heal, it may very well get better.

Worst case scenario, he'll just always walk with swagger. Best case scenario, it heals and he walks normal! Either way, it causes him no pain, he doesn't need to be restricted and it won't get any worse. Great!

So that's the update. Stay tuned tomorrow for another update!

My New Transport Foster Kitten -- Phantom!

Oh, the cuteness continues! I am pretty sure that my spare bathroom could easily be considered one of the cutest places on Earth in the past few months... There is always some cutie in there!

The latest adorable thing to bless me with its presence is Phantom, a super sweet 10-month-old kitten that we rescued from Broward County Animal Control. Phantom was THISCLOSE to being out of time, but we swooped him out of there just in time!

Phantom's handsome shelter picture (that does him NO justice).
He has white whiskers mixed in with the black on one side of his face... So he is Phantom!

Phantom also has some kind of issue with one of his back legs. The shelter vet thinks it's some kind of nerve damage, but it doesn't seem to faze him at all! He walks with one leg kind of bent at the knee, like he walking on his calf. It all just goes flat on the floor. But he still jumps and loves and plays -- nothing is wrong as far as he is concerned!

He is also extremely hard to get a good picture of, because he's constantly rubbing on me for love or coming at me to ask for more love. Sit still, Phantom!

I'm sure there will be tons more pictures of him coming soon. I just wanted you all to meet him real quick. I love, love, love him and I'm so glad we could save him. I have been hoping and sharing for almost two weeks!

Oh hai. You are here to pet me, right?
Phantom still doesn't have a forever home 100% lined up, so if you are interested in him, please tell me! You can email me through the Contact Cute link on the left of this page or fill out our adoption form. Phantom is currently in Fort Lauderdale, FL, but we can transport, of course, with our Cute Transport Network!

I love this leg.
Hurray for Phantom!

The nice lady gave me a catnip candy cane!
P.S. You may have noticed the new links at the top of the page! Trying to make Cute Transport Network more official and help so we can spread the word easier and sign up more drivers easier. There are links up there now to volunteer to drive, and also to sponsor a transport kitty!

I'm going to try and keep the Sponsor a Transport Cat page updated with what kitties we are trying to save and what it costs to vet them and transport them. We usually pay a lot out of our pocket, so this will be a huge help so we can save even more! If you can ever spare a dollar or two, take a look and see the cuties that could use it!

There are three listed there now, and I'll be adding Phantom soon also! Hurray!

Look into my eyes and give me your green papers...

Transport Saturday: 9 Ninja Kittens and Crew Heading Up North! #ninjacattransport

Yeah! It's another transport day! This time we have 11 black kittens, a black cat, a cow cat and a tuxie... all heading from Florida to the Northeast!

These cats were all saved from animal control and we're so excited that they have places to go and be safe! Some of the sweetest, cutest, most adorable cats ever are on board for this ride!

I'm going to share along the way on Your Daily Cute's Facebook page and also on twitter using the hashtag #ninjacattransport!

5 of the ninjas!

These ninjas were all saved from animal control. There was a cage of nine black kittens, and it wasn't looking good. But then a miracle happened and our friend Danielle G., who works with a rescue near Boston, said they could take them ALL! And so off they go!

Ruby.
Max.

Ruby and Max were part of a litter of five stray kittens that were found near the Cocoa, FL area. They were the only two that made it -- and so they deserve the best forever lives! They are off to Stray Pets in Need in Massachusetts! They will be in foster with a friend of Cute, Therese C.'s cousin! We have the best network here!

Cookie!

Cookie came from Tampa, and she is a petite little girl. She is off to New Hampshire where here new forever mom, Patty P., is anxiously awaiting her arrival!

Tinky!

Tinky was saved at the last minute from Miami Dade Animal Services. She had a horrible URI, and our fellow Cutehead and rescue friend, Maribel M., even slept by her side for two nights. She didn't think she was going to make it... but she did! And she is gorgeous and on her way to her forever home near Boston with a new brother, Cherokee, who is also on the transport! He is all black.

Isn't this the most beautiful bunch? It just occurred to me that there is only black and white in this car! How fun is that?

Huge thanks to all the Cuteheads drivers and the sleepover hosts and the fosters and rescues here in Florida and up north -- and especially the adopters!

Follow Along!
You can follow along with their transport today and tomorrow on Your Daily Cute's Facebook page and on Twitter using the hashtag #ninjacattransport. I'll be tweeting as @YourDailyCute, of course! Help us cheer these kitties on!

We kick off at 7:30 a.m.!

Help Future Transports!
Want to help transport rescue kitties in the future? Sign up to be one of our volunteer drivers by filling out this form so we can contact you if a cat needs to go through your area! The more drivers we have, the more cats we can help! Thank you all!

Tremendous Thank You!
These cats are all safe and headed home thanks to some amazing work by many amazing people. We couldn't do any of it without our super partner in rescues, Stacey of Good Karma Pet Rescue of South Florida, and Nicole D. and Maribel M. for helping get all these cats out and ready. Our fabulous fosters: Denise D., Hope G., and Eileen!

And huge thanks to all our Cutehead drivers! YOU all make this possible. Dawn S., Lisa B., Vicki O, Joni M, Melanie M, Desiree B, Amanda D, Andrea D, Donna S, Linda G, Kelly P, Carol K, Jennifer J, Danielle B, and Therese C! What a wonderful group!

And the biggest thanks of all to the adopters and rescue groups! Patty P for giving Tinky a home and Greg H for giving Cookie and Panther a home! And our friends Danielle G and Brian for taking in the ninjas to the rescue they work with!

What a wonderful group! So many lives saved!

Tiny Kitten Sleeping in a Pile of Fur

A tiny tabby baby and his little pink nose and mouth snooze away, snuggly surrounded by a warm sea of his black cat mom's fur.

Looks like a good a place as any to spend a sleepy Sunday!

P.S. These are foster kitties saved by Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue, according to the video. Cate (the mom) was rescued very pregnant from the streets. This is a much better way to raise her babies!

#CaboodleCaravan: It's Transport Day - 14 Cats Headed to Happy Lives!

There's a whole caboodle of cats heading out today for their new lives -- and Cuteheads are helping every step of the way!

For this latest transport, we're giving a ride to 10 kittens and 4 adults cats. It's a whole carload, I tell you. Seven carriers in total! (If you see someone driving down the road with a car full of cat carriers, honk and wave hi... It's probably a Cutehead transporter!)

As usual, I have a favorite in this transport. I swear, I'd probably keep one from every group if I didn't have a pet limit at my condo. Good thing I do!

Me and Lestat. Look at his awesome cross-eyes and tongue!
Lestat is the coolest cat. He is a huge boy with the tiniest chirp of a meow. He is also incredibly timid and sweet, and just an all-around great catch. Someone is going to be very lucky to adopt him!

Lestat was surrendered at Broward Animal Control in Pompano with his three sisters. Apparently some guy's wife left him and the country, so he dumped their cats. The sweetest cats!

One got adopted right away, but his other two sisters, Callie and Smokey, we scooped up and rescued! Our amazing friends at Forever Home Feline Ranch said they'd take them in and find them real forever homes. Hurray!

Pretty Callie!
Then, the Ranch told us that they didn't have any adoptable kittens. No kittens?! We could fix that! So we asked our good friend, Wendy K., who we knew had just rescued some kittens from Miami Dade Animal Services if she had homes for them yet. She said no, so all of the sudden, all five of them had a place to go. Put on your cowboy hats, kitties, you're headed to the Ranch!

And then two adorable kittens popped up at animal control here. Can you guess what happened? They got their ticket to the Ranch, too!

Whiskers and Barry, sitting still for a rare second.
And then... (yup, there's more!)... We got word of three tiny black kittens at Gaston County Animal Shelter in North Carolina. They are a gas chamber shelter (booooo!) and so these tiny babies needed rescue fast.

Forever Home Feline Ranch to the rescue! We gave those babies their walking papers, got them all vetted and they are hopping in the car with us, too! They are being transported to Chattanoooga, TN today and will head out with the rest of the transport on Sunday.

One of the Easter kittens. I can't wait to see out-of-the-shelter pictures!
We named them Peep, Cadbury and Jellybean since it's almost Easter. How cute is that?

UPDATE: We got this picture of the Easter kittens busted out of the shelter this morning. How precious!
Speaking of Chattanooga, Cutehead Emily B. is hosting a sleepover for ALL of these cats tonight. Can you imagine how much fun that will be? The Florida cats will all end up at her house tonight and the North Carolina kittens will be there, too, and then she'll give them love and luxury tonight, and then pack them up and get them started on the rest of their journey first thing Sunday morning!

We've got an amazing team of drivers helping these lucky kitties this weekend, and we've had tons of help getting them ready to go before this, too.

We'll be using the Twitter hashtag #CaboodleCaravan to follow these kitties on their travels and sharing on Your Daily Cute's Facebook page as well, of course. Cheer on the kitties with us!

Huge thanks to our partner in rescue, Good Karma Pet Rescue, our amazing rescue vet, Dr. Seskus (he goes above and beyond!), our fosters and condo kitty caretakers, Maraly and Bob W. and Colleen F., condo donater, Nancy M., and all our drivers -- Karen A., Cheryl L., Sara M., Wendy K. (who also fostered!), Lisa B., Morgen P., Dana K., Shannon and Dixie, Laura N., Tia and Helen, Emily B. (kitty sleepover!), Laura and Cindy and Brenda B., who is also president of Forever Home Feline Ranch. Also, big thanks to Cheryl J, who is the Ranch's adoption coordinator and helps us save these babies! If I forgot someone, know I love you too!

Genie and Peter's Fabulous Adventure - It's Transport Saturday!

It's another one of our favorite days! Today one little black fuzzball and one handsome tabby are heading to their forever homes! Both were saved from kill shelters, and both are going to live the lives every kitty dreams of!

Genie (who was Eugene up until a couple days ago when he went to get neutered and came back spayed, haha! Surprise!) is a spunky kitten who was saved from Miami Dade Animal Services. She was there with her two siblings, and the two of them got adopted... but Genie was left behind. I posted her sweet fuzzy picture on the Cute's Facebook page, and Cutehead Leigh G. immediately fell in love. We can't leave him there by himself, she said!

Eugene's shelter picture stole all our hearts!
And so we busted her out!

She's been hanging out with our wonderful rescue friend, Maribel M., in Miami and generally just running around her house like a crazy kitten -- and today she gets to hop in a car and head up through all of Florida to meet her mom in Pensacola!

Genie SAFE out of the shelter!

As we were planning her road trip, I noticed another group, Imagine Home, was looking for drivers in Florida for a cat named Peter. I took a look at his route, and it turns out he was going a lot of the same way as Genie... So I suggested that we pick Peter up along the way and team up so they could share a ride!

And now it wasn't just a Genie road trip... it is a Genie and Peter road trip!

Peter's sweet face. Of course he found a home!

Peter was also saved from a kill shelter up in Sanford, FL (near Orlando) by a rescue group called Aristocats. They got him out just in the nick of time and have been searching for a wonderful home for him. Luckily, one turned up! A woman named Kristie wanted to adopt him, but she was all the way in Tallahassee.

"Only Tallahassee?!" us transport people said. No worries! You give Peter a home, and we'll get him to you!

Peter lounging around waiting for his ride.

And so the caravan of Cuteheads started together!

Eight drivers will be taking turns on the road all day to get these two sweet kitties home. The trip will start around 7 a.m. from Miami and end probably around 10 p.m. (Eastern time) when Genie gets home.

If you want to follow along, I'll be tweeting as @YourDailyCute using the hashtag #GenieAndPeter and posting tons of updates on Your Daily Cute's Facebook page throughout the day!

Let's cheer these babies and all the wonderful, amazing drivers on today!

Want to help drive for future transports so we can save even more kitties? Volunteer to drive by filling out this form, please! Thank you!

Huge thanks to Maribel M. for rescuing, fostering and vetting Eugene, Leigh G. and her family for adopting him (she has adopted other Cute kitties!), Jennifer P. for rescuing Peter, Kristie W. for adopting Peter and Cuteheads Kd P, Vicki O., Stacey M, Diane L, Dusti M. and Jenny T. for helping drive them both home!

Cute Crusade: 10 More Cats SAFE and Heading Home!

You like being a part of something special? Well, you're in the right place! Cuteheads are making amazing things happen again!

Right now there are 10 cats tucked away in all different foster houses and condos down here in South Florida, just waiting for their rides to their new forever homes. Black cats, big cats, tiny kittens and delicate tabbies and a pretty Siamese... We have a beautiful herd of rescue kitties, all saved from animal control!

This time, our fabulous friends at Forever Home Feline Ranch in Illinois have stepped up and offered to take in seven cats, all of which will find their forever homes very quickly up there! We are so excited! That's seven cats saved from that sad shelter... who are going to be off to the most wonderful lives ever! Hurray!

All the kitties heading to Forever Home Feline Ranch!
Then there is Pookie. Pookie was surrendered at the shelter and spent hours in this position when she got there, so sad and distraught.

No way we could let her stay like that, poor baby! Luckily, Cutehead Mary C. saw this and just knew Pookie was meant to be part of her family. She quickly left a message saying she'd love to have her... and we quickly made the move to bust Pookie out of the shelter the next day! Mary is in Illinois, too, so Pookie will be in the car with the seven up there! She's now in a wonderful foster home with Cutehead Carie P. (who fostered senior sisters Sera and Chloe!) and she is doing fantastic! Pookie is getting spayed today, so send good thoughts her way.

Turns out Pookie has a beautiful face!
Continuing our story of amazing friends, meet Puck. Puck was also surrendered at the shelter and his sweet, timid, loving face immediately caught my eye. I shared his picture, and then found out that Puck had some issues that would probably make it even harder for him to get adopted. He has some polyps in his ear that require surgery. I can't find the picture of them, but it is pretty icky looking.

Puck. This is the face we all fell in love with.
Luckily, though, we have great friends! Cutehead Tristin B. saw Puck's sweet face on our Facebook page, and set a miracle in motion... She said she would love to adopt him and asked how soon we could get him out! How soon? As soon as possible! So with the help of our good rescue friend, Nicole D., Puck was busted out of the shelter and off to see a vet. (He does need the surgery and Tristin's vet is going to talk to the vet that Puck saw to decide who does it. Hopefully it is not too expensive, but Tristin is wonderful and we will make sure Puck gets everything he needs!)

Puck loving on his litter box. Such a happy boy.
Puck is going to St. Pete, Florida to live, which is pretty close to me! We'll work out his transport after he gets his vetting all settled.

And last but not least, adorable little fuzzball Eugene. Eugene was at Miami Dade Animal Services (our first Miami rescue kitty!) with his two brothers. Both of them were rescued, but Eugene was left behind. Being a black kitten in a bad place like that was not going to work in his favor... but it turns out we have even more great friends! Cutehead Leigh G. (who adopted Zoro, Garfield, Count Blackula and Midnight!) saw tiny Eugene and couldn't let the inevitable happen to him. So she sent me a message saying she'd like to add him to her crew! Whooo hooo! Eugene will be heading to Alabama.

Oh hai. Fiercely cute Eugene here!
As of yesterday morning, Eugene has officially left the MDAS building and is safe and in foster care with another fabulous rescue friend of ours, Maribel M.! I have to tell you, Eugene's name kills me. Kills me! Is it not the cutest thing? So un-cat like, but so perfect!

Eugene right after he was busted out!
As always, huge enormous thanks to Cute's fabulous partner in rescue, Stacey at Good Karma Pet Rescue of South Florida. She handles all the kitties getting out and vetting and lots of the fostering coordination and tons more that I'm not thinking of. We couldn't do this without her!

Whew! Now on to the fun part. These cats all need rides! The maps of their routes are below. If you are along the way and would like to help out, please fill out this form so I have your contact info and what city you live in. The more volunteers we have, the more kitties we can help! (And if you've already filled out the form, I have your info. If you're along the route, I will probably be giving you a call! Thank you, everyone!)

Silly Cow-Kitten Attacks Big Brother Black Cat

Little kittens never let their little size get in the way of their big brave moves. Plus, it always seems like cow-cats are a little extra crazy, doesn't it?

And just when you think the big guy makes his move and might actually have won...

BONUS CUTE: Watch another little cow kitten go nuts on a big cat.
