Pics of our Apartment

These are just a few of the pictures of our apartment that we have taken thus far. These photos were taken in December when we visited Eric. Once the apartment is clean I will take some more photos, and show you what I have done with the place....it is defintely more full in more ways than one since the boys and I have moved over.

Midnight Madness

The past two nights I have been up until Midnight. I must admit that I am neither a night owl or morning person, but if I had to pick it would be--morning person, simply because I get moving and get a lot done at times. The past two mornings I have been dragging though.

I stayed up late on Wednesday night working on getting the kinks out of my blog, and last night my friend Alicia was here visiting from Denver. No, she doesn't drive all the way to the desert just to see me, Ridgecrest is her hometown and me moving here is a bonus. She visits her parents during the holiday vacations. We met 7 years ago while we were both working in Lamont, we became team teachers and close friends. I miss her a lot. Last night we stayed up really late scrapbooking and watching movies. I got pretty tired near the end, but we had fun! The saddest part about the night was realizing that I am just now scrapbooking our Easter weekend trip to Vegas from 2004--that was three years ago. I remember the time when I was current on all my scrapbooks--that was before children came.

My Uncle Frank seems to think I have a lot of spare time, not really, I just make time. I make time for my hobbies here and there. My kids make it very easy, they play in their room so well together. Jacob is getting to be a big boy, and "plays well with others" (what teachers like to say on their report cards, about little boys who have a lot of energy). I need to get him signed-up for Pre-school and some sport activity, so he can burn off that energy and we both can make new friends (my deepest desire is to be a roommom--the other end of the spectrum from being a teacher). So many people say why don't you "homeschool" him, but he needs the socialization, and I need the 6 hours a week to spend with Trevor, mano y mano.

And for this morning--it wasn't a drag......

We took Katie to the groomer, got the car washed, went to city hall to license Katie, went to the Kerr McGee center to see about signing Jacob up for some stuff (we have to wait for the summer schedule--bummer), went to the bank, picked Katie up from the groomer, grabbed some lunch, and the mail, went to the management office for Katie's photo (they need it on file) and then came home. So I could finish this post for the day and put the boys down for their nap! This all happened between 9:00-11:30. Small towns are great!!! The car wash was in walking distance from City Hall, and the Kerr McGee center, which made it all so easy to do. Jacob did very well following directions and pushing the buttons on the crosswalks, and Trevor enjoyed the ride!

Scrapbook Layouts from Thursday Night

These are a couple of the completed pages I did for Jacob's album. As you can see he is 3 years younger, this trip was taken Spring Break 2004. We met all the family in Las Vegas, we stayed at the Excalibur. Our favorite spot was the Venetian, it was mostly indoors and had a lot of different things going on, and outside they had the Gandola ride, with singers and all. It was really cool to have a little bit of "Venice in Vegas".

Login Troubles

Welcome, Welcome....I am sorry for the difficulty you might have had logging into the Blog. I hope you find it worth it though! I am excited about it, and I hope you are too. I am never up this late and have been sitting at this computer way to long troubleshooting the login process.

About the name of my blog..."dirt" has a double meaning of course the first one being gossip or news, and the second one is its literal meaning DIRT. Ridgecrest has a lot of it! If you know anything about the area you know first of all it is in the middle of the high desert. We are surrounded by the eastern side of the Southern Sierra Nevadas, nestled in the Indian Wells Valley. The wind blows pretty much all the time, people say that it isn't so, but they are seriously kidding themselves, and as you all know when the wind blows so does the DIRT!

I posted the "Top 5 Reasons Why We Love It Here," that will change I am sure as we live here longer, but for now those will do. I still get a kick out of seeing and hearing airplanes flying above us almost everyday, it puts a smile on my face that the USA has the most awesome airplanes in the world, and my husband gets to work with them! We are so proud of him, and he is like a kid in the candy store everyday when he comes home, of course I don't know why because he can't talk about it. But a husband who is happy with his job, makes for a happy home. This is more than just a coincidence, the Lord brought us to the High Desert, so we could build an oasis out of the "dirt".

Premiere Post

This will be the Premiere Post of the "Williams Family Dirt." I have created this blog as a way to let those who are interested in on the day to day happenings of our life, and also as a way to give me some sanity in the world outside of the high desert. I hope you will visit it regularly to catch up on the "Williams Family Dirt." Dirt would include the routine, or special events that occur in our lives, or just maybe the quirky thoughts that come to me.

Today I have continued going through boxes and repacking what we really don't need so that our apartment isn't to "full." I am really trying to "Keep It Simple Stupid" right now. I am even keeping some scrapbook supplies packed, and that is really a sacrifice, since it really shouldn't be in storage (you know acid free stuff, photos, etc.) I have made appointments for both boys for their wellness exams and immunizations, and Katie has an appointment to be groomed on Friday. The rental office wanted a photo of her to keep on file in case she gets lost, and I would not let them take a picture because she looks absolutely awful....for those of you who don't know Katie is our miniature poodle. She has been a part of our family for almost 6 years, this fall. Anyhow, one of the biggest frustrations about relocating to a new area is having to find new doctors, veterinarians, dog groomers, hair salons, etc. Thank goodness for the Relief Society and the Church in general, you can get a variety of opinions on decent doctors and such, then make your own choice. I don't know what people do without the Church!

The boys have been pretty good today, Jacob is getting to be good big brother and Trevor is getting more and more curious. The trash, baby wipes and DVDs keep the boys pretty well-entertained. While others may scream and yell at their children for dumping the trash out on the floor and proceeding to eat what looks edible along with the dog, or for using 3o baby wipes to clean the entertainment center.....I take pictures. It helps to remind me that my boys are precious miracles, and making messes are what children do best!
