May Things

So many things happened in May!  It was the final month of school, so we wrapped up sports, school and preschool.  Maren moved home and came to one of Grant's track meets.
Ryan finished his Lacrosse season (our new Bishop is a professional photographer and came to one of Ryan's games and took some awesome pictures).

Maren and I dug up all the weeds of our garden plot, when our rototiller wouldn't start.  Then we planted our garden!

Twin pants.

A pretty May snowstorm.

We went with Gramma Lana to the Taylorsville Temple Open House.  It was beautiful.

Grant had his final band concert and did great.

We had a rare occurrence of the Northern Lights!! It was a dream come true for me!  You couldn't see them as well with the naked eye (although, you could kind of see them), but when you took a picture, your camera totally caught them!  It was amazing!  I could have watched this for hours.  It was beautiful.  I love the sky, sunsets, stars and this was like a beautiful mix of all of them.  For me, witnessing stuff like this makes me feel close to God.

Ryan sang at the State Choir competition with his choir and they got perfect scores from all the judges.  They sounded so good!
And Dustin and I stopped in at The Pie for dinner after.
We took family pictures at The Saltair.  There were biting flies and gnats attacking us the whole time.  It was a little torturous.

It was Mother's Day!  I love this day.  I love being a mom.  And my family always makes me feel special.

Entertainment for hours.
Ryan had his final choir concert.

And Grant had his final choir concert (and sang a solo and did SO good!).

Maren took a trip to California with her high school friends, and a trip to Oregon with her college friends.
Dustin and I had a date to the Layton Temple Open House (our kids had already seen it with the youth in our ward).

The power company cut down our tree next to our tree house because it was close to their lines.  And now the tree house doesn't feel super sturdy.  So Dustin is in the middle of fixing it.  He tried to get it done in time for the Preschool Graduation, but Mother Nature had other ideas and it rained for days before the graduation, which prevented him from finishing in time.  And almost prevented graduation from even happening!
On the day of graduation it rained hard, up until 4:30, when the sun came out and dried things up slightly.  My family helped me hurry and set up, everyone came, the kids sang and did their program, and just as we were finishing that and starting our potluck dinner, it started sprinkling again.  It rained off and on the rest of the night, we moved chairs under the carport and someone held an umbrella over the food, and we finished our graduation celebration!  I love my supportive, understanding preschool families!

Look at those cute, singing faces!

I've taught all these siblings (the oldest was in my first class!).
Grant graduated from 9th grade (with honors at his Honor's Night).  They didn't actually do a graduation...

All that rain brought beautiful sunsets.  That almost makes up for the amount of stress it brought me, worrying about the Preschool Graduation.
School ended and Grant did a thing.

We worked in Gramma Lana's yard and Grant and Ryan put a bench together.  They are good at those things.
We ran over a cone during Meals on Wheels.
The Monday after school ended, Grant started FSY down at BYU for a week.
Avery found him.
We had a Memorial Day BBQ at our house with family and friends.

We took Maren's mission pictures!!

Dustin and I celebrated our 23rd Anniversary a couple of days early.  Dustin took the day off and we hiked Elephant Rock, went to the temple and then to a dinner theater.  It was a lovely day with my favorite person.

It was a little scary, so I took pictures from a safe spot below.

We took Ryan and Maren and hit a bucket of balls, and I am so good and hit the ball so hard that I broke the top of the golf club off.  I could have killed someone!

And that wraps up May!  It flew by and is so nice to be enjoying summer now!
