Finishing Up Our Summer Fun

Tonight, as I sit writing this, there are two days left of Summer vacation.  As it always does, it came and went so fast.  So it has been fun to look through the last month or so of pictures and see that we did, in fact, pack a lot of fun in.
My nephew, Ammon, flew in from Seattle to go to EFY at BYU, LOL.  BYU is the land of acronyms.  The boys and I had fun taking him to Provo and showing him mine and Dustin's old stomping grounds.  I love BYU.

We stopped in at the Bean Museum for a few minutes before heading home to help the girls pack for Girl's Camp the next morning.
Bright and early the next morning, the girls left for 5 days of camping.  It was so fun that they both got to go this year.  And, I got to go for a couple of days this year, too!  I helped my friend, who was in charge of all the food for the Stake.
The boys had fun without us.

Gramma Lana watched the boys for the day while I was gone.  Driving little cars is a dream come true.

It was super fun for me to see my girls, and the Food Committee had a lot of fun together, too.
 Our daughters.

While the girls were still at Girl's Camp, after I got back, we took the boys and headed to Oak City for the Losee Reunion.  It is always a lot of fun.
Uncle Tony killed a rattle snake in our camp.  It was very exciting.

Grandma was her usual spunky self, from a resting position.  It is hard work being 90!

A couple of days later, Avery ran in a 5K with friends from Cross Country.  She did great!

We celebrated her race, and the pioneers coming into the Salt Lake Valley, with smiling pancakes.

Maren had 3 weeks of Summer Band.  She is starting on the trombone, but will switch to the baritone sometime in the Fall.  She loves it, which is fun to see (and listen to).
Gramma Lana and I took the kids on a tour of a candy factory.  Delicious.
Avery got braces!!  She has handled the sore mouth and extra cleaning time really well.  With how expensive braces are, this will have to be her Christmas present for the rest of her life...
She ran in her first cross country meet with the High School and did amazing!  She beat her last time by 10 minutes!
The boys made Lego Temples to submit to the Friend Magazine.
Grandpa Montgomery came to visit and stayed with us for a couple of nights.  He came down for the Montgomery Reunion and we had a lot of fun visiting with him.  I'm so grateful for him!
I helped my mom with the games for the reunion (she was in charge), and this was a "Guess Who" board.  Grandpa got almost all of them right.  Not bad, considering that he has 100 members in his posterity to choose from!
We took him to the Hill Air Force Base Museum the morning of the reunion.  It was fun to hear his stories about the planes he had worked on at Hill AFB, long ago.

 Grandpa's kids and brother.
Athey boys, Shurtz girls.  Well, most of them.
We did his 90th birthday celebration a few months early.
This is how we found grant sleeping one night.
The kids and I hiked a number of times.  We have beautiful mountains so close to us!

Lots of lemonade stands occurred.  And a little heat exhaustion.
 Kind of creepy.

We finished Avery's bedroom downstairs!!  And just in the nick of time.  I had my preschool Back to School Night, and we had to clean out everything that was being stored in the preschool.  We are happy with how it turned out.  Dustin worked like crazy on this, every night for weeks!

We finally took our kids to Lagoon, thanks to Lynnette's Orbit Lagoon day (which she didn't even get to enjoy with us because her father-in-law passed away).  Grandpa and Grandma Shurtz and Jen's family all came, and we had so much fun.

Sisters are awesome.  Sisters in matching shirts?  The best.

Jen and I braved the fire breathing dragon roller coaster.

No one threw up on any rides, no one got lost, and I didn't die on the Cannibal, either from a heart attack, or from flying off the coaster, so I consider the day a success!
