Christmas came and went last year without Pepper really getting into the holidays or recognizing Santa, etc. It's really fun to see her learn new things. She is officially excited for Christmas!

Nooks and Crannies
Our home is old... eighty years old. When we were unpacking we found a newspaper from the early 1940's hiding in the back of a closet. It had some interesting/scary articles about the progress of World War II and what was going on overseas. For the most part, we really like this home. It has a lot of architectural character with beautiful arched doorways, glass doorknobs, and original [squeaky] hardwood floors. The air vent covers are also original and they're really ornate and beautiful. They are much bigger (double?) than modern air vents, and they are in the walls instead of the floors. I think they are pretty cool.
Apparently Pepper does too. The vents have big openings, and she has been putting pens, my jewelry, sticks, etc in the vents ever since we moved in. Her stash recently reached a new level.

She crammed so many of her foam numbers and letters in there that many of them have fallen down the shaft, and you can't see them in the pictures. Honestly I don't think we'll dig those out. She also stuffed them in the vent in Lincoln's room.
Awesome.
But with a face like this, how could I be mad at her?

I'm like baby, baby, baby...
Sometimes my son reminds me of a teeny-bopper at a Justin Beiber concert.
I freaking love this kid:)

I'm so glad when Grandma comes home
My mom came to visit again last week. We were excited to have her even though it was a short trip. Corban was out of town again last week, and I was sick... Mom came and rescued me! She played with my kids, cleaned my house, and let me run errands -- alone! The weather was beautiful for half the time she was here, and even when it wasn't, she still took Pepper outside. What an amazing Grandma!

Best. Visitors. Ever.
Corban had training in Texas last week, and I invited my parents to come visit while he was away. As the time drew closer, I found myself wondering what we would do while they were here... I actually wondered if we would get bored. Which is laughable to think about now. I thought I was inviting them to come take a vacation at my home... but instead they gave ME a vacation!
Dad mowed and fertilized my lawn and pulled every weed he could find. He brought a few huge logs from their firewood supply in Cincinnati and chopped me up some firewood. Dad also tied a wrench to the end of a sturdy rope, stood up on a ladder, and threw it up over a very high tree branch--twice--so we could have a swing for Pepper. She is in heaven! Dad watched Pepper and Lincoln so Mom and I could go to the St. Louis Temple and out to lunch. He trimmed an overgrown bush at the end of our driveway so we don't have to pull out blindly. And he bought a gorgeous full length mirror from Home Depot and hung it in our bedroom! Dad also worked hard to fix the opening mechanism on one of our garage doors. He cleaned out the sandbox for Pepper, and he stained the picnic table and wooden swing in the back.
Mom changed my kids' clothes and diapers, and gave them both baths. She cleaned and organized my basement--my unfinished, yucky, dust filled basement. Since we moved here Corban and I have gotten into the [bad] habit of tossing stuff down the basement stairs, with the intent of organizing everything after we were done unpacking... Mom decided to tackle that monstrosity while she was here. She cleaned out cobwebs, broke down boxes, and did a fantastic job of organizing the mountain of stuff down there. She also cleaned our garage! She vacuumed my home and cleaned the bathroom too. She did my laundry, and she made friends with my neighbors.
You should have seen their car when they arrived! It almost rivaled how full our car was when we moved from Provo to St. Louis! Since they no longer have 8 people living in their home, they brought us some of their food storage. They also brought us some GINORMOUS water storage containers. Pepper and Lincoln both got some fun clothes from Grandma Marty, and Pepper also got a beautiful book about the Savior. Mom and Dad also brought us a bookcase and armoire that they no longer need. Thanks to their generosity, we have a place to put our books and some random stuff that didn't have a place in our home yet. YAY! Oh, and they brought lots of yummy Panera!
Together they played outside with Pepper a TON and took her on lots of walks! If you know Pepper at all, then you know that means she was in absolute heaven. They cooked and cleaned up every single meal! Translation: I did not cook or clean up after a meal for five days. Wahoo!! Two of the meals they made were seafood--a special treat because someone who lives in my home (but was gone at the time:) hates seafood.
Aside from all of the service they gave us, it was great just spending time with them. They are just a short 7 hour drive from us now. I'm looking forward to my kids getting to see more of them!
Mom and Dad: Thank you, thank you, thank you! Come back any time! We miss you!!
Pepper is thrilled EVERYDAY with her swing!

We got a new camera right before Lincoln was born and I've had a hard time navigating the new software... I think I finally got it! Here is a plethora of videos I've been meaning to put up.
Whenever I try to take video of Pepper doing something cute or funny, she stops whatever she's doing as soon as she sees the camera... without fail:(
Anytime Pepper finds luggage, this is what happens...
What better place to sing than under the kitchen table?
Pepper is obsessed with her cousin Mia and LOVES to look at pictures or video of them together, including this one.
So long, Utah!
Lincoln smiles so much these days:)
Oh how she makes us laugh!
Pepper really loved spending time with her grandpa and grandma last week!
After watching this video a few minutes ago, Corban pointed out that Lincoln smacked his lips when he saw me behind the camera... HAHAHAHA...

Uh uh uh oh
We have a few Jack Johnson albums, and apparently Pepper is a fan also... mostly of the song "At or With Me." She started singing along with the chorus about a year ago, and regularly requests the song whenever we are in the car. "Uh-oh Mommy! Uh-uh-uh-uh-oh!!" She isn't always a fan of her carseat, and sometimes this song is the only thing that will get her to stop whining/crying/wailing. Oftentimes when she realizes this song has started playing she will excitedly scream/sing at the top of her lungs... makes us laugh every time. It makes her realllllllly happy. But needless to say, Corban and I get really tired of this song anytime we are in the car for longer than 20 mins...
It's kind of a stupid music video, but you can listen to Jack Johnson sing it here if you want:

This video is MUCH cuter:) .....

Party Party
We went to Wayne and Susan's home last weekend for a family birthday/graduation party... With the big bowl of soapy water (BUBBLES!), backyard to play in, dogs to chase, sprinklers to run through, and cousin Elsa to play with, Pepper was in heaven. Be sure to watch the video at the bottom... so cute:)

38 weeks pregnant... induction is scheduled for Monday 6/20. We're so excited!

A few random ones
I believe we left Pepper alone for all of 3 minutes and lo and behold...

You really can't get mad at this face, can you?

We often refer to Pepper as our "little smash and grabber." She isn't allowed to play in our bedroom or the bathroom, and she knows this. When she and we both notice at the same time that either Corban or I accidentally left one of the doors open (she hasn't quite figured out how to open doors--YET:) she RUNS as fast as she can and will grab whatever is in sight before dashing away with her new found treasure. Her loot of choice is usually a squirt bottle, deodorant, lotion, toothbrush/toothpaste, or a washcloth. Or as was the case below... a foot file/brush, which she then rubbed on Corban's feet.

One of the first things Corban did after graduation was grow a beard. Male BYU students have to shave regularly, so he was thrilled to show off his non-studentness and rebel a little. As for me... I'm ok if this beard was a one time thing:)

Can't tell they're related, can you? :)
