I'm just glad it is over

I like Christmas and all, but I just am so glad when it is over and you can take back all the stuff that the kids didn't like or that did not fit. So fun. The kids had a great time and got almost everything they wanted, especially when Santa surprised them and Mom with Rock Band 2.

gingerbread men, women, babies, and a dog

My cute family making gingerbread men.

the finished product....

Tanner made the one on the top, said it was Jacob from New Moon. Notice the six pack

This is Santa and Mrs. Clause in a bikini. We stuck them in the freezer because those are what Kali wants to give Santa when he comes.
Tan got his stitches out, and things look good for now. He will be on antibiotic for 4 weeks and then get checked again.

The cold has finally hit NC

It got up to a steaming 41 degrees today, the coldest day so far this year. I guess we should expect it by now it is December after all, we are just so spoiled. Kali was out jumping on the tramp all bundled up.

WARNING!!!!! GROSS PICTURES

This is what Tanner's arm looked like a few days before we went in for surgery to clean up the infection and get the plates out.

Here it is now, we go in Monday to see what's next. He will for sure have to be on antibiotics for another 6 weeks.

This is the hardware they took out of Tan's arm

He is doing good now, his arm is still kind of sore but he is pretty much back to normal. Tomorrow is the year anniversary of his accident and he is hopefully on the road to recovery.

Tanner's surgery update

Tanner had surgery yesterday at 7:30 am. He was nervous as anyone would be, he was playing it cool until about 10 minutes before the surgery started. That's when he started to cry. It just broke my heart. Then the wonderful CRNA (one of Kevins friends) came in with the wonder drug Versaid (SP?) He was all smiles then, and was goofing around. Until they had to wheel him off, thats when the tears started again for him and me. The surgery took just over an hour. Me and Kevin went into a confrence room to talk to the Doctor. He told us that things went well, he was able to take the plates and screws out, clean and scrape the infection off his bone. The infection was deeper than he was hoping, so he will be put on an antibiotic until the results come back from the lab about what kind of bacteria was growing. Thats when we will find out if he will need to go to an infectious disease doctor and get a pick line put in so he can get antibiotic through an IV. We are hoping that the antibiotics by mouth will do the trick. He is home now and resting pretty comfortably with a dose Percocet every 4 hours. I sure hope we are all done with this broken arm stuff, it sure does make me feel so greatful that my kids are healthy. I hate to see him in so much pain and can't do anything about it.

Thanksgiving weekend

We hosted Thanksgiving for the first time this year, and I put Kevin in charge of the turkey, because I can't stand touching meat with bones in it. He was so excited and studied up on the best way to make it for at least a week in advance.
This is Kali grossed out by the sight of a uncooked turkey

He decided to do a bacon wrapped turkey it turned out delicious. We had Kevin's aunt and uncle over along with the Pinney's our good friends. It was nice but it is just not the same away from my family.

We have been wanting to go out of town for weeks now but we had soccer every weekend so this was our first weekend free. We went up to Raleigh to do some fun activities. We get an awesome discount from Kevin's mom for the Marriott. We stayed at the Renaissance It was a $300.00 a night room that we got for $30.00. This is the bathroom with a tv in the mirror.

Our room
the view form the hotel, it was at the back of a shopping center.Friday night we went to Adventure Landing and played mini golf, laser tag, and arcade games
Saturday we went to Marbles a children's museum, it was pretty fun sadly my kids are getting to old for them and were kind of board.

There was one activity that the kids loved, we were fashion designers.
Kali's creation
Kevin's dog dressed as a cow
Kaden's hip hop dude
Tanner's token black guy
My hippie

Then Sunday we went to the Imax and saw The Christmas Carol in 3D. It was really cool all the computer animated stuff. But kind of scary, I would not recommend it for anyone under 6 I think. Then we went to Pullen Park, it was such a nice day, we got Subway and had a picnic by the pond.
The leaves are still so pretty.

We took a little train ride around the park. It was kind of small and very short but it sure was pretty. We had such a great relaxing weekend thanks for the idea Kevin.

On a not such a happy note, Tanner's arm that he broke last December has been giving him trouble. The scar's have not healed right and he has now got an infection that came bubbling through the skin this weekend. So we have to get the plates and screws taken out asap, so he is going in on Friday the 6th, for his third surgery, and hopefully last.
