Christmas Stocking

Bragging time!  I made this Christmas stocking for my nephew.  I didn't have a pattern, but I wish I would've so I could make some more.  I used glitter white yarn to add a little sparkle.  The 2011 is written in sequins.  I thought it turned out so cute.  The best part?  I whipped this up in about a day and a half.  Start to finish!  That includes having to redo part of it because I didn't like the shape.
I want to try making another one because it was pretty fun.

Flower Hat

I knitted these matching hats on a loom.  I then crocheted the flowers for the hats.  My niece LOVED her hat.  George loved his hat too!

Cars Blanket

Grant loved the Cars 2 movie before he even saw it.  I found this super cute Cars 2 fleece and decided to whip him up a blanket.  I got some blanket binding and sewed it around the edges.  Blanket binding is so easy!  It only took about an hour to make the whole blanket.   It is a little pricey to buy the binding pre-made, but with a good coupon at Joann's I consider it reasonable.

Crochet Cocoon

I made this cocoon for my nephew.  I made this cocoon using a knitting loom.  It was pretty easy to make.  I wish I would have done a different color.

Crochet Project

I taught myself to crochet about a year ago.  It was kind of a whim.  I looked up some "how to" videos on youtube to learn.  I watched a few videos and wa-lah!
This is actually my second afghan I have  done.  I didn't get pictures of the first one because I finished it about 2 minutes before the baby shower.
This afghan was a lot of fun. It was fun to do the waves.  The only thing I didn't like about this afghan was the yarn.  The orange was thicker than the green or blue.  It made the whole thing go a little lumpy.  I don't know why it was the case.  I bought the same brand of yarn for each color.  Oh, well.  I still think it is pretty cute.

Adding On

This is the back of the home I grew up in.  It's walls contain many wonderful memories.  It is an older home (1950's I think) with all new guts.  My parents finished the basement about 20 years ago. (I just realized 20 years isn't really all that new.  But it still feels new.  Moving on...)
When I was in jr. high my parents' remodeled the living room.  We tore down the ugly grey brick fireplace and put up a really nice wood one.
After I graduated from high school my parents' took on the biggest remodeling project ever.  They pretty much gutted the entire upstairs.  There was a short period of time when my parents' would get dressed, go out the front door, around to the back door, and downstairs to eat breakfast.  It was a horrific project, but good grief it has almost been 10 years ago.  Time flies by!
So now the next project begins.  The home is plenty big, but last year we found out there are no big rooms!  Trying to squeeze 9 adults and 2 babies into the living room with a Christmas tree, piano, couch,  plant stand, end table and chair is just too tight of quarters.   My parents got thinking that the family is only going to get bigger so we need a place for all of our bodies to dwell comfortably.

Ta Da!
This is the idea put into action!  A large room built onto the back of the house. The addition is further along now then this picture portrays, but it is still crazy to imagine it all done.
They had to rip out a part of the wall (where the bricks are torn off) to connect the addition to the house, so of course there was a mess inside the house.  All of the computer stuff that was in the room is all over the house.  It kind of stinks and my mom can't wait to have everything organized again.  The part I am jealous about is under the addition is a 3 foot high storage area as big as the entire addition.  (It was just a bi product of having to make the addition level with the upstairs level.)
My mom hates having her house turned upside down like a typhoon hit.  I don't blame her one bit.  Having to move the entire contents from one room to another would naturally create a huge mess.  I tease her about really craving the mess because we seem to do this kind of big project every 5-10 years.
Everyone hopes it will be done by the holidays this year so we can enjoy the big space!

The Latest Craft Project

I got this idea from a home decor magazine. I put my own spin on it and sha-bam! It is very easy to make and it didn't take very long at all. Now I can find all of my necklaces and they are easy to get to.

The Big Bedroom Project

The Master Bedroom before the project began.

The painting of the bedset begins.

There were over 20 drawers that needed painting. It was a little overwhelming to look at.

The bedset completely done and moved in to our bedroom.

In April I sponge painted the walls in our bedroom. I love the look. It is still neutral enough that it isn't too outlandish for Kyle, but I love the change of color. The furniture really adds to making the room complete. I still haven't put anything on the walls yet or hung curtains. I haven't decided what I want. But this is a great start.

My Latest Creations

I have managed to do a little bit of digital scrapbooking. I think it has helped my sanity. I thought I would share some of my favorite pages.
