Tripwire

Tripwire (Jack Reacher, #3)Tripwire by Lee Child
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved how this book got going right from the start!  I think I have found a new series to read.  I hope the next 10 books in the series don't disappoint.
The book had little swearing and no sex scenes.

Jumpin', Jumpin'

A few months ago Grant and I went to a jump house!  It was a ton of fun!  I was about 4 months pregnant at the time and I couldn't jump as long as I wanted to.  Grant had fun, but he wanted me to keep jumping with him.  I told him we could come back another day.  Grant has been begging us to go back to the jump place ever since.  When we asked him what he would like to do for his birthday he of course said, "the jump place."  We told him he could bring one friend with him to jump and he insisted on his cousin Evelyn.  I thought it was sweet!
This weekend my mom and Evelyn came up to celebrate Grant's birthday.  Grant's birthday isn't until the 24th, but it worked best for them to come over President's Day.
On Saturday they woke each other up at 7 AM and started practicing their jumping.  They drove us crazy for 4 hours until the jump place opened.  They had so much fun though!  I was a little bummed I couldn't jump because it is a lot of fun, but I decided now that I am nearly 7 months pregnant I better sit this one out.  I had fun taking pictures though!

Evelyn is showing me her leg kicks while she jumps!

Evelyn wasn't sure about the monkey bars at first.  She was afraid of falling!  I don't know why because she kept jumping into the foam pit below the monkey bars.  For some reason falling off the monkey bars was a totally different story.

This is Grant sliding down the big slide like a ninja.

Kyle had a ton of fun doing flips into the foam pit.

Grant of course had to try it out too.

Grant likes the trampoline basketball court the best!  He wishes he was a little taller so he could slam dunk it.

I tried to take a picture of everyone jumping at the same time. It was a total flop.  Oh well, it was hilarious watching them try.  I took 53 pictures of the group jumping before I just had them stand still.

Grant picked to go out to Chick-fil-a for lunch.  It was a great early birthday celebration!
Thanks for coming Granny and Evy!

Let It Snow!

The first few times it snowed it was melted by the middle of the afternoon.  I don't think anyone else minded, but Grant did.  He wanted to play in the snow so bad!  He was so frustrated when it kept melting.
In January we got quite the snow storm and thanks to below freezing temperatures the snow stuck around for ever!  Grant couldn't have been more pleased!  A few of the kids at daycare showed Grant how to make snowballs and it made him feel so big.  Grant had to show me how to make snowballs with the snow.

Zero Day

Zero Day (Puller, #1)Zero Day by David Baldacci
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book gets the 5 star status because it passed the "driveway test."  Meaning I was listening to this book in my car and would get so captured by the story I would park the car in the driveway and listen to the book.
I can't wait for more books in the Puller series!
It was a very well written story and captivating from chapter 1 all the way to chapter 97!  I couldn't believe all the twists and turns this book provided. It kept going all the way to the end.
I loved Puller's character!  He was such a stalwart individual who stood up for what he believed in.  I love that about a character.  I loved his little side romance with Sam Cole.  I was cheering for them the whole time!
One thing I love about Baldacci is he some how makes the reader like the villain.  Maybe I am just gullible, but I rarely suspect who the villain is until Baldacci pulls the curtain from off my eyes!
No swearing and no sex scenes.  Another great book by Baldacci!

Our Search for Happiness

Our Search for Happiness: An Invitation to Understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day SaintsOur Search for Happiness: An Invitation to Understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by M. Russell Ballard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this book as part of a challenge issued by our bishop.  I am so glad I took the time to read this book.  Elder M. Russell Ballard does such a great job explaining the basic principles of the LDS church.  I am glad to be reminded of the foundational principles of the gospel.  I have an extra copy of the book and can't wait to share the book with someone who is curious about the "Mormon" church!
I recommend this book to anyone who would like to know what I believe in!

Little Chef

I am seriously the luckiest woman in the world because I have a husband who knows how to cook.  I have thanked Kyle's parents a number of times for teaching him how to cook. (Thanks again Cindy!)
Kyle and I have decided to try and teach Grant how to cook for two big reasons.  The first obviously is so one day Grant's wife will not have to cook every night.  The second, is it helps Grant be a better eater.  Grant is already a great eater, but there are still a few foods he doesn't care for.  We are trying to encourage him to try new foods and he is a lot more willing if he helped prepare it.
Some of the foods we are working on are:

1. mashed potatoes
2. green peas
3. spaghetti sauce
4. lasagna
5. cauliflower
6. ice cream
7.  funeral potatoes
8.  stir fry vegetables

Some of the foods are most people's favorites, but Grant doesn't like them.  He does like a lot of good food such as:

1. broccoli
2.  green beans
3.  rice
4.  brussel sprouts
5.  tacos
6.  oatmeal
7.  chicken and broccoli casserole
8.  chips and salsa
9. raw spinach
10. corn on the cob
