Day 1 finished well. The girls love the homemade pico de gallo (salsa) and love my spanish rice. I wasn't too impressed with how my rice turned out, but they thought it was great, so who cares??!?!? The oldest girl even went back 4 times for more. We went to Millhollow for frozen yogurt for our FHE and then talked for about two hours about their day and just fun girl talk. I love how they interact as sisters. I never had a sister growing up, so watching them is extra fun for me!
Day two was great. 10 year old and I went to the gym at 6:15 a.m. to get her swimming practice in and my running in for the day. I haven't gotten up that early in quite awhile, especially for exercise. :) It was great to have done! It was a blizzard Tuesday morning and we got about 3-4 inches of snow and plenty of wind to go with that. I have a deep respect for mothers that work. I was in my dress, nylons, high heals, ready for work...perfectly curled hair, etc...I walked (thinking I would be fine to run out without a coat on or HOOD)out to my car and scrape off my vehicle. The wind picked up and the snow that fell/was falling was so dense, I was pretty wet by the time I got back in the house. Wet freshly curled/hairsprayed hair looks real good. :) PS...my hair gets a little frizzy when it gets wet.
Well, I just looked in the mirror and thought, well, here we go! We had to get out the door to drop off girl 14 at school and to get me to work! When I got to work, I really felt like a wet dog, but wasn't too bad. Again, new respect for moms that work. I think I would always have an extra outfit, makeup, comb, etc...in my car for emergencies. Especially if I were to work in an office where you were expected to look presentable.
We had taco soup (their mom had frozen) which was really simple and I made more pico since we ate all of the day before's. The girls have chores and responsibilities and don't let me help. I offered to clean up after dinner while they did homework, and they said, "no way! our mom would be upset!" They are so helpful! After that, we ran errands and as soon as we got in bed, we all died. I love that feeling. So great to be tired from a full day!
If you couldn't tell, I have just really enjoyed this. It's great to try something new and be out of your comfort zone for awhile. Parents really sacrifice so much. That is one part I have loved. I haven't worried much at all about myself this week. I seem to constantly be thinking about what's best for them, what they would enjoy doing, what they would enjoy for dinner, etc...
Until day three...
