Morgan started his second session of swimming lessons and is doing awesome! I decided to put him in a more advanced class to challenge him because he started getting bored at the end of his last session. Now, I'm not the type of mom who thinks her kid is a miniature einstein or sports star and so he needs special treatment and consideration or anything (though my posts may make you think so), but I do know my child and unfortunately when he gets bored he starts being naughty. While this is something we are definitely going to be working on, because getting bored is inevitable, we knew it wouldn't change in 2 weeks, so I put him in the harder class knowing that he would be the worst swimmer in the class. The first day, I thought I had made a big mistake. These kids were swimming more than half the width of the pool and doing different arm strokes, and while Morgan had been swimming about 4 or 5 feet by himself toward the end of his first session , that first day, he didn't even want to swim to the teacher without holding her hand. We stuck it out though, and he has made enormous strides! He is now swimming more than half the width of the pool, is the best knee diver in the class, and can dive in and swim to the side with no help most of the time. He is still the worst swimmer in the class, but he doesn't care one bit, it is only really hard for me to watch. Through the process he has learned a lot about trying new things even though they are hard and doing things that he doesn't want to do.
I have also become the sideline mom I didn't think I would be. My mom was always the loudest cheerer in the crowd, the one yelling positive instuctions and affirmations from the sidelines and the one clapping for even the smallest accomplishments. While this embarrassed me many times sitting next to her at the endless baseball, soccer and football games I attended to watch my brothers, I now appreciate it so much as a mother. Morgan thrives on verbal encouragement, and now I am the mom cheering like crazy so my kid knows I am proud of him even though his head is under the water. I am the mom who yells "you can do it" across the pool for an extra bit of encouragement before the next dive. And don't worry, I yell for other people's kids too!
We are coming along on our garage. The roof is on, the inspections are passed and now we are working on the grading, landscaping, finishing the fence, and running electrical to prepare for the driveway pour in 2 weeks (which we hired someone wonderful to do). After the pour, we will be able to lay sod, put up siding and we will be FINISHED!!! YAY!
Chloe has gotten to be quite the little cuddle-bug and a major Daddy's girl. She loves to come and give loves and kisses and just nuzzle on your shoulder, but she especially loves to say "Love you Daddy". Since Seth got home from scout camp, anytime he leaves when Chloe is awake she has a meltdown. Anyone else leaves, and she waves goodbye, but Seth leaves and it is the end of the world! And she is still completely obsessed with shoes!
Last week we went to the IKEA Crayfish Festival which was one of the coolest things we have done recently! We had to buy tickets in advance to reserve our spots and they completely sold out. The restaurant was decorated in fun and colorful crayfish party decor (apparently these parties are a sweedish tradition thing) and they had a table set up for us with hats and bibs and such. There was live music and all you can eat crayfish, sweedish meatballs and potatoes, breads, cheese, sweedish sparkling juice and amazing desserts! It was so yummy - we will definitely be going back next year!
Friday we went to our first Demolition Derby of the year (sadly we had not been able to make it to any others yet) at the County Fair. We were all decked out in our white trash outfits, we ate giant scones and kettle korn, there was a truck derby and mini car figure 8 race and lots of crashing - one car even got knocked completely over the dirt wall and tried to get back in the race! All the joys you expect from a demo derby. Chloe did not enjoy the derby nearly as much as I remember Morgan did at the same age.
Pregnancy is still miserable, and I officially have a little baby bump. We find out the gender early in September, and will keep you all posted. Sadly, we had chosen a girl name and a boy name and both have been recently used by close friends and family. I may just use them anyway because it is getting very difficult to find names I like and we have an enormous family and a lot of friends with kids! It is just unavoidable that there is going to be some crossover. At least we all have good taste in names, right!
Seth is less than 2 weeks away from school starting and we are getting nervous and excited all at the same time! He moves from the ICU to the ER in 2 weeks which is so exciting for us and we are looking forward to the increase in flexibility.
And finally, Seth and I have been enjoying what we think is a hillarious blog that I think a lot of you would appreciate. It is a spoof on mormon mommy bloggers by a fellow 25-year-old mormon mommy blogger, and if you haven't seen it and enjoy that kind of thing, check it out at seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com. Make sure you read the profile on the side and get ready to laugh!
So there you go...a long post to make up for my slacking! Congrats to you for making it through the whole thing!

I cant want to findout what you are having! Interested what your names are!!!
I am so glad you enjoyed the seriously so blessed sight. I think half the people I sent it to were offended and the others thought it was funny. Thanks for the info on the IKEA party...I had no idea! Looks like a lot of fun.
This is the Tates in Seal Beach. I found your site through Steve's blog. I subscribe to Seriously So Blessed. It is like a bad sit com. Reading it is fascinating but you might not admit it to your scholarly friends.
Fun to read about your family.
