Busy boys and animals!

We found out Calvin will hold his bottle if it is less than 5 ounces.  I guess his 8 ouncers are too heavy for his delicate little fingers!  Plus when he's tired and we put the bottle in his mouth his arms automatically relax up by his head.

But we caught him and now we KNOW he CAN do it....we just have to convince him to!
Oh no- they're going to expect me to do this all the time now.  Maybe if I just do it really still they wont notice...

Well I'll just refuse to hold it.  After all that's their JOB isn't it?  What else is a parent good for?

Calvin is a busy  boy- have I mentioned that before?  It is getting hard to change his diaper without him wiggling away.  I was putting on his pajamas the other night and I reached over to get lotion for his belly.  When I looked back at him he was already on him tummy with a paci in his mouth!

And meanwhile Caleb was happy just grabbing his little toes!  If you tickle his feet he cracks up!

There is something about animal towels that just gets to me.  Look at little tiger Caleb.
 And froggy Calvin!

Weekend Weather

We have been spending as much time outside to enjoy and soak up these PERFECT temperatures.  And on days when it actually isn't crazy windy we spend the whole time outside.  Sunday was one of those days. We set up a pack-n-play outside for the boys and we enjoyed the weather too.  Here's how they enjoyed it!

Calvin wanted whatever toy Caleb had and was pretty good at just grabbing it!

Later this is how we found them.  It reminds me of how they always scooted towards each other until their heads touched when they shared a crib.  So sweet this brotherly love!

We learned early on that Caleb LOVES being outside. He becomes this extra giggly happy little boy when we're outside.  Just look at him after a walk (Calvin woke up while I took this picture).

The only thing I did inside last weekend was make baby food.  We stocked up on sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and acorn squash...for a couple of weeks.  These are hungry boys!  I discovered I love the portion sizes a muffin pan gives us - it is just around 3 ounces.  Yes it is kind of ghetto but it works!

Happy 1/2 Birthday

Let's all pretend I was on top of things this month and I actually posted it on the 15th...thanks.

If you have two halves does that make a whole year?  Our babies turned 6 months on the 15th!  I feel like time is picking up speed and moving faster and faster and faster as each week flies by!  This is my favorite age so far and the boys are SO MUCH FUN!!!  I love their laughters, watching them figure out toys, seeing their chunky legs and feet try to crawl, the dimples where their knuckles are supposed to be, how their smiles go from ear to ear, and seeing them smile when they see me, Scott, or eachother.  This time is precious and priceless and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  My how they have captured our hearts.

Caleb
You weigh 17 lbs 8.5 ounces and are 27 inches long.
You wear 9 month clothing (unless Dad dresses you and sometimes it can be as small as 3 months!)
You love to turn pages in books.  Your Dad reads to you every day and you will just grab the page and flip!
You love carrots and avocados and blowing bubbles while you eat!  Yes it sprays food everywhere but at least you eat!
Your eyes are getting irritated because you like to put your fingers in your mouth while eating and then rub your face and eyes.  I'm working on redirecting your interest away from your mouth!
You laugh at us all the time.  And I can't get enough of your laughter.
You give us hugs and kisses.
When something isn't exactly how you want it you squeal like a pig.  You get really mad and worked up over nothing!  At daycare they can't put you in one of the exersaucers because one of the toys is stuffed.  Apparently you think it should be hard plastic and get mad every time you see the toy!
You are just starting to scoot backwards.
The other night you ate 12 ounces before going to bed.  Then you woke up 4 hours later to eat again.  You're on a growth spurt and we're now feeding you three meals a day.
You still smile and get happy when we swaddle you at night.  I'm not sure how we're going to get you to sleep unswaddled but you also haven't tried to roll-over!
You will not stay in your crib alone unswaddled.  We can put you in your brother's crib with him and you'll happily play for awhile.
You start out most days in socks but always pull off your right one!  You like to feel your little toes and I guess you are more flexible reaching your right foot than your left!

Calvin
You weigh 17 lbs and are 28 inches long.
You wear 9 month clothing (unless Dad dresses you and sometimes it can be as small as 3 months!)
Drolling is your favorite thing to do.  Wait, you say it isn't?  Then why do you do it all the time???
You LOVE avocadoes and squash.  You will tolerate anything mixed with avocado.  I have a feeling you'll love Mexican food as much as your momma!
You are scooting backwards all over the room and are really trying to move forward.
Your eyes are getting irritated because you like to put your fingers in your mouth while eating and then rub your face and eyes.  I'm working on redirecting your interest away from your mouth!
You laugh at us all the time.  And I can't get enough of your laughter.
You give us hugs and slobbery kisses.
You love to talk and make lots of noises including your aa, ba, da, sounds and other random noises!

If we unswaddle you in the morning when you wake up you'll happily play and talk in your crib for an hour!
You are busy.  Getting you to lay still to change your diaper or take a picture is really becoming a challenge.

Mr. Serious for the camera....we seriously need to break this habbit!

What's that?  You want me to smile?

Sorry Mom, too busy- there's something...

I just need to try to get to....

If I could just figure out how to move towards things instead of away...

Oh well, I'll get my chance at those piano keys!

When one gets sick so does the other!

We had RSV spread like wildfire through Bartlesville in late February.  Every kid except one was out of Caleb and Calvin's class sick with RSV.  Luckily for us our boys didn't have a severe case and recovered much quicker than I expected.  I am so thankful they didn't need breathing treatments and that their case was relatively mild.  At least now we've had it and we can move on!

The crazy thing is we just thought they were congested from a cold.  They weren't fussy at all but they sounded pitiful.  We could hear them breathing and they were starting to put forth extra effort to breath.  That's when I decided to take Caleb in to the doctor.  I think I officially got out of the runnings for the "Mom of the Year" award when Caleb had a fever at the doctor.  I had no idea, hadn't thought to check because he wasn't fussy, and didn't have tylenol on hand to give him.  Poor baby!  Now I'm a little OCD about checking for a fever...

We kept the boys home on a Thursday and Friday and spent the weekend at home.  Since RSV is so contagious we really couldn't go anywhere or have any visitors in for the weekend.  But we got in lots of play time and cuddling from the boys.

Calvin was happy all weekend playing on his tummy.  He's really working on crawling...

Caleb was just as happy rolling over to be on his back!  Every time we put him on his tummy he would roll right over.  I think as soon as his brother is leaving him behind he'll get serious about crawling!

Caleb decided he'd work for a little bit on his tummy.

Calvin LOVES these blocks- they keep both boys mesmerized for so long!  It is a daily toy for them right now (Thank you Uncle Todd and Aunt Melissa!).

We even got in some cuddle time over the weekend.

We stayed home with the boys on Thursday and Friday but by Monday morning they were more than ready to go back to school.  Just look at the excitement from their sweet faces!  I really missed them when I went back to work that Monday.  It was a big adjustment going from hanging out with them for 4 days to not seeing them for a full day.

St. Patrick's Day Festivities

We celebrated St. Patricks day in a big way.  Not by wearing green (that would take way too much planning and coordination for me right now!) but by spending the entire day in Tulsa with our family!  Uncle Jerry, Aunt Amy, Anniston, and Treyson came to visit us for the day and we had so much fun.  We met for lunch (and a quick shopping trip) then headed to the zoo!

Caleb LOVES and I mean L.O.V.E.S. his cousin Anniston.  Just listen to his laughter.  He was like this all day long around her.  He barely even napped because he had too much fun.

They LOVE riding in the stroller without car seats.  They usually end up playing with their feet!
Uncle Jerry got some play time in with Caleb during an Elephant Show!
 What a sweet smile!

And Caleb only took a nap while I was holding him.  Otherwise he wanted to look at everything and play!  They had so much fun at the zoo and playing with their cousins!

Anniston was working on making Calvin laugh too...but he just wanted to grab her face!

Scott with the kiddos- at least half are actually smiling in the same picture!

Calvin and Caleb with their visitors- Aunt Amy, Uncle Jerry, Anniston, and Treyson!
We had so much fun spending time with the siblings and kids!  Thank you Amy and Jerry for making the trip into Tulsa to see us!

Can't keep them away...

So far in the past 6 or so months we have gotten regular visits from MaMa and PaPa...wait did I say 'We'?  I totally meant Caleb and Calvin!  They just can't keep their grandparents away and can you blame them?  We love when MaMa and PaPa come to town because the boys get lots of love and attention and we get to go on a date!

There was lots of cuddling and napping on MaMa and PaPa...
 and play time and smiles...
 some sweet giggles...
 and ended in crashing out!

Thank you MaMa and PaPa for a great visit!  We are so thankful you make it a point to come see the boys regularly!  We can't wait until you see them at Easter and see how much they've changed already!
