I've Got Soul, But I'm Not a Soldier

This week has been a good week. Busy. But a good one.

On Tuesday I walked around at lunch and took pictures of happy flowers. And the redbud trees. I love redbud trees.

And then I saw this star tulip. I smiled.

It smiled back and nodded its pretty head at me.
All the sunshine is making me a bit crazy.
GOOD CRAZY.

Then I went home and baked a twirly bundt cake. Twirly bundt cakes are the best. And took it to my bff Lindsey. For her new baby!

Love the offspring. Connor is adorable and cute and perfect!

And just now while going through my pictures I found this girls' picture from Melinda's wedding (which I never blogged about), and it made me smile because I have great friends. They like me even when I have chipmunk cheeks!

So really, flowers, friends, and fat cheeks=a good week.

Back to Blogging

For awhile I haven't felt like blogging. I meant to. There were things to discuss, like Melinda getting married, but I didn't get around to them. But I'm here now. To fill your day with sweet nothings from the likes of me. Perhaps the big, fat, white, winter-like snowflakes outside kicked me into gear? Because I do love me a pretty snowstorm--preferably not in April--but at least it wasn't snowing on my birthday. And I'll cross my fingers that the tulips won't die a slow death like the ones I tried to grow in my house.

And for a really bad transition:

Rich is sweet. He didn't even list my age when announcing the day of my birth yesterday. Not that it is a big secret, but sweet nonetheless. Can I qualify as being an adult if I had a hard time turning 26? I'm coming to realize that all of the life lists I've made are slowly being thrown away due to either sheer laziness on my part or some gentle guiding by Heavenly Father. And I'm learning to be okay with this. This is my life. And I love it.

Last night we hit up the Red Iguana for some authentic Mexican food. Red Iguana=loud, cramped, wonderfully delicious dive. And their salsa is muy bueno! Not quite the fancy place I insisted on last year. Not even close. But it was exactly what I wanted. And though my tummy wasn't happy afterward because I insisted on eating all the food on my gigantic place, dinner was a complete success. I think I'll bring Rich over to the "I could eat Mexican food all day, any day" crowd yet!

After dinner we ran through the rain like crazy people! Not really. We were just running to the car. But I'm sure we looked a tad bit ridic. But getting to the car and going home meant--TIME FOR MY BIRTHDAY SURPRISE! I won't ruin the story by telling you I totally guessed the surprise, which just highlights my amazing guessing skills, but I will tell you that I was so SO happy! Rich had me close my eyes and then took me downstairs--don't worry, this is PG--and stood me in front of the TV, where he then unveiled the Super Nintendo hooked up--WITH MARIO KART IN PLACE READY TO GO. That's right people. He bought me Mario Kart circa 1992!!! We are not fancy people. We don't need no Wii Mario Kart with updated graphics and multiple racetracks. We are all about large pixels and graphics that make me slightly motion sick. I'M SO HAPPY. I've been meaning to buy this game forever. And ever. Seriously. I was just smiling. Then we played some raucous Mario Kart. And it was perfect.

I have the best husband, don't I?!

And for your enjoyment, I've pasted the ecard Faith sent me. Because I giggled for a long time upon receipt of said card. Honestly. This card, all the well wishes, and the amazing cake and ice cream from the people at work made the day absolutely wonderful.
